An ethnobotanical field study focusing on traditional wild food botanical taxa was carried out in Kaniguram, South Waziristan, Pakistan, among Ormur (or Burki or Baraki) peoples, which represent a diasporic minority group, as well as among the surrounding Pashtuns. Through sixty semi-structured interviews, fifty-two wild food plants (taxa) were recorded, and they were primarily used raw as snacks and cooked as vegetables. Comparative analysis found a remarkable overlap of the quoted plant uses between the two studied groups, which may reflect complex socio-cultural adaptations Ormur speakers faced.

This study describes, for the first time, the experimental and computational investigations for evaluation of kolliphor RH 40 as a fluorescence enhancer surfactant in development of a spectrofluorimetric method for determination of lapatinib (LAP), a tyrosine kinase-inhibitor drug approved for targeted therapy of breast cancer. The investigations involved the ability of kolliphor RH 40 to form micelles with LAP and its enhancing effect on the weak native fluorescence of LAP at 420 nm after its excitation at 292 nm. Different variables were experimentally investigated: types of organized media, diluting solvent, buffer type and its pH value.

Large parts of the Sahara Desert and Arabia are covered by sand seas and sand dunes, which are inhabited by specialized animal communities. For example, many lizards have developed adaptations to life in loose sand, including sand-swimming behavior. The best-known sand swimmers of the Saharo-Arabia are the sandfish skinks (genus Scincus).

Despite being the most effective hypolipidemic agent, poor physicochemical properties of Rosuvastatin calcium (RCa) remain challenging obstacles in the development of pharmaceutical dosage forms. Inclusion complexes (ICs) of RCa with cyclodextrin (CD) derivatives; methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (M-β-CD) and sulfobutylether-beta-cyclodextrin (SBE-β-CD; Captisol) were formulated by kneading and freeze-drying (lyophilization) methods. Pysicochemical properties of ICs were evaluated by SEM, DSC, XRD, FT-IR, H-NMR analyses.
