Background: Understanding the severity of the disease from the parents' perspective can lead to better patient outcomes, improving both the child's health-related quality of life and the family's quality of life. The implementation of 3-dimensional (3D) modeling technology in care is critical from a translational science perspective.

Aim: The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of 3D modeling on family quality of life, surgical success, and patient outcomes in congenital heart diseases.

Introduction: Concomitant use of drugs in the same or different indications can sometimes lead to undesirable interactions. The prevalence of drug interactions is high in cancer patients. In this study, we aimed to determine the frequency and clinical severity of drug interactions in outpatient lung cancer patients.

Evaluation of Dry Eye Disease Characteristics of Children With Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and MODY.

Purpose: To assess dry eye disease characteristics of pediatric patients with diabetes.

Methods: Twenty-one patients with type-1 diabetes mellitus (DM), 20 with type-2 DM, 19 with maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY), and 20 control participants were included in the study. Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire, tear film break-up time (TBUT) analysis, Schirmer test with anesthesia, and conjunctival impression cytologic analysis were performed.

Effect of levetiracetam on ocular perfusion measure with optical coherence tomography angiography.

Purpose: To evaluate using optical coherence tomography angiography the macular and optic nerve head blood flow in pediatric patients with epilepsy treated with levetiracetam for at least 12 months.

Methods: This study included 33 pediatric patients with epilepsy and 30 sex- and age-matched healthy volunteer children were included in the study. Optical coherence tomography angiography was used to evaluate the optic nerve head and macular perfusion changes.

Background: Evidence-based medicine (EBM) was introduced as a concept in the early 1990s as an integration of the best available evidence with clinical expertise and patient values.

Objective: To evaluate the current status of EBM training and EBM perception, attitudes, and self-perceived skills among European urology residents.

Design Setting And Participants: Our online open survey comprised 28 multiple-choice items, including ten questions with responses on a five-point Likert scale ranging from 1 = strongly disagree to 5 = strongly agree.

Hand-assisted laparoscopic donor nephrectomy: 1864 cases in 15 years of experience.

Background: To evaluate hand-assisted laparoscopic donor nephrectomy (HALDN) in terms of intraoperative and postoperative results.

Methods: After institutional review board approval was obtained, a total of 1864 HALDN operations performed between March 2007 and January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. Age, sex, body mass index (BMI), status of smoking and presence of previous abdominal surgery, laterality, operative time, transfusion requirement, port counts, length of extraction incision, time until mobilization, time until oral intake, donor serum creatinine levels before and one week after the surgery, length of postoperative hospital stay, intraoperative complications, and postoperative recovery and complications were recorded and statistically analyzed.

Erector spinae plane block in chronic pain: a retrospective study.

Patients with various aetiology of pain who underwent erector spinae plane block at different levels were evaluated at the tertiary Algology clinic. Visual analog scale (VAS) values were recorded before the block; 30 min, two weeks, and two months after the block. Medical records of fifteen patients have been obtained.

Nucleolus assessment in invasive breast carcinoma, an objective parameter for histological grading.

Background: The nucleolus has the potential to provide insight into how many types of cancer will progress. In this study, we examined the evaluation of the nucleolus with a microscope in widespread breast cancer tumors and whether this value contributes to tumor grading as an objective clinicopathological parameter.

Methods: In our study, the nucleolus was evaluated retrospectively in resections with a diagnosis of invasive breast carcinoma of the cases between January 2010 and April 2021.

The pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) in 2019-2022 leads to a multisystem illness that results in damage to numerous organ systems. In this review, our goal was to assess current research on long-term respiratory, cardiac, neurological, digestive, rheumatological, urogenital, and dermatological system complications of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Bibliographic searches were conducted in December 2021 using PubMed and Google Scholar, retrospectively, covering all COVID-19 literature to determine the consequences of the disease.

Comparison of 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT and mp-MRI in regard to local staging for prostate cancer with histopathological results: A retrospective study.

Background: Imaging modalities are used to diagnose and clinical grading of clinically significant prostate cancer. In this study, 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT (PSMA) and multiparametric prostate MRI (mp-MRI) were compared in regard to locating intraprostatic tumor and locoregional staging.

Methods: After ethics committee approval, a total of 49 patients with prostate cancer who had mp-MRI and PSMA before radical prostatectomy were included.

Conjunctival Histopathological Changes in Children With Vitamin D Deficiency.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate tear function-associated clinical findings and conjunctival histopathological changes in children with vitamin D (Vit-D) deficiency.

Methods: This study used a prospective case-control design. Group 1 (n=38) comprised pediatric patients with Vit-D deficiency, and group 2 (n=45) was the control group.

Changes in the macular choroidal thickness of children who have type-1 diabetes mellitus, with and without vitamin D deficiency.

Purpose: To assess the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and macular choroidal thickness (CT) of children who have Type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM), both with and without vitamin D deficiency (VDD).

Methods: The prospective, case-control study herein comprised that included 46 children with DM and VDD (Group 1), 42 children with DM and normal vitamin D levels (Group 2), and 73 healthy children (Control group). The peripapillary RNFL thickness and macular CT were measured at three different points (subfoveal, 1500 μm nasal, and 1500 μm temporal from the fovea) and compared.

Case controlled study on diagnostic predictive value of inflammatory markers of complete blood count in pregnant women with acute appendicitis.

The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare the diagnostic ability of platelet-related parameters and white cell-based parameters in pregnant women with appendicitis. This is a retrospective case-controlled study. Women aged between 18 and 50-years-old who had undergone appendectomy between January 2010 and January 2021 were enrolled in the study.

Changes in Tear Meniscus Analysis of Children Who Have Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, With and Without Vitamin D Deficiency.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to quantitatively evaluate dry eye test parameters of pediatric patients with and without vitamin D deficiency (VDD) in type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Methods: In this prospective cross-sectional study, the Ocular Surface Disease Index, Schirmer test, tear film breakup time, corneal staining score, and anterior segment optical coherence tomography were used to determine the dry eye test parameters of pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1-DMPs) (group 1) and a healthy pediatric control group (group 2). Group 1 was divided into 2 subgroups based on their vitamin D status: group 1a, who had a VDD, and group 1b, who had vitamin D levels that were within the normal range.

Changes in Tear Meniscus Analysis After Ptosis Procedure and Upper Blepharoplasty.

Introduction: To quantitatively evaluate dry eye test and tear measurements following oculoplastic surgery.

Methods: This comparative prospective clinical study comprised three groups of adult patients: the 1) blepharoplasty group: those with dermatochalasis; and 2) the blepharoplasty + Muller's muscle-conjunctival resection and 3) blepharoplasty + anterior levator resection groups: those with dermatochalasis and ptosis showing significant improvement after 10% phenylephrine administration. Ocular Surface Disease Index, tear film break-up time, corneal staining, and Schirmer test values were recorded.
