Objective: Popliteal artery puncture, which makes possible the use of lower profile sheaths and devices, has gained popularity as an alternative to the antegrade approach, due to the reduction in vascular complications at the access site. The present study aimed to analyze the safety of the procedure and long-term patency of the superficial femoral artery (SFA) and popliteal artery (PA) and in subjects undergoing recanalization with the popliteal retrograde approach.
Methods: Forty-three subjects, who underwent endovascular therapy (EVT) of the SFA or PA with retrograde popliteal approach, were enrolled in this retrospective study.

Objective: To compare the antegrade and retrograde approaches, in terms of access site complications and long-term patency in subjects undergoing EVT for symptomatic SFA or popliteal artery stenosis or occlusions.
Methods: All consecutive patients who underwent retrograde recanalization for partial stenosis or chronic total occlusion of the SFA or PA at 2 centers were enrolled in this retrospective analysis. Subjects were divided into 2 groups, according to the approach selected for EVT as antegrade approach group or retrograde approach group.

Aim: To observe the protective effect of astaxanthin (AST) against hydroquinone (HQ) mediated cell death in the apoptotic cascade and evaluate intracellular Ca release, caspase-3, and -9 activation, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in ARPE-19 cells.
Methods: We cultured ARPE-19 cells in special mediums and performed MTT tests to determine protective effect of AST, before exposing the cells to HQ in an incubator. We analyzed intracellular Ca release experiments, mitochondrial membrane depolarization, glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and ROS experiments, and apoptosis assay.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a life-long neurodevelopmental disorder and treatment depends on pharmacotherapy because of its biological origin. Stimulant drugs are the most commonly used treatment for ADHD and they have various side effects. Herein, we report a case who bit off the tip of her tongue with Osmotic Release Oral System methylphenidate (OROS MPH) 36 mg/day, bit the tip of her lower lip with immediate release (IR) MPH 10 mg/day and lateral part of her tongue with IR MPH 20 mg/day.

Objective: Among the various neurosurgical techniques currently being used in chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) surgery, bur hole craniostomy is the most popular worldwide. Recent studies have strongly recommended that a drain be placed after surgical evacuation of a hematoma, and a broad spectrum of preformed surgical drains is widely available for this purpose. If preformed drains are unavailable, a surgeon-made drain can be used and various methods are available to develop a drain in the operating room.

The etiology of primary nasolacrimal duct obstruction (NLDO) is unknown, and the disease may exist bilaterally in a small number of patients. Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) surgery is the recommended treatment for these patients, but concomitant nasal pathologies are believed to be related to decreased surgical success. The authors aim to assess the concomitant required nasal surgical procedure frequency for endoscopic surgical access retrospectively in bilateral and unilateral NLDO patients.

Tinnitus is defined as perception of sound with no external stimulus, and can separate into pulsatile and non-pulsatile types. The etiology of primary nasolacrimal duct obstruction is largely unknown, and this disease may occur bilaterally in a small percentage of patients. In this retrospective study, the authors aimed to discuss the cost, operation time, complications, and success rate of simultaneous bilateral endonasal endoscopic surgery. Twenty-eight patients (16 female, 12 male) were enrolled in this study, with a mean age of 55 years old (range: 43-76).

Long-term use of topical nasal steroids (especially older generation steroids) has been shown to elevate intraocular pressure (IOP), but newer intranasal steroids are thought to have a minimal effect on IOP because of their low bioavailability. This study aimed to investigate alterations in IOP with two commonly used intranasal steroids for a 6-month period of time. One-hundred allergic rhinitis patients, divided equally into two groups, used mometasone furoate and fluticasone furoate intranasal steroids for 6 months.

Background: Repeated in vitro Fertilization (IVF) failure together with Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) is one of the distressing situations leading couples to search for alternative treatment options. For such patients with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) who have experienced Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome, mild ovarian stimulation with in vitro oocyte maturation could be a promising alternative. Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA) of spermatozoa from a known obstructive azoospermic patient is a limiting factor for IVM (in vitro maturation) but the couple reported here accepted mild IVF -IVM with TESA.
