This study aims to evaluate the clinical and radiological features, histopathological characteristics, treatment modalities, and their effectiveness, as well as long-term follow-up results of pediatric spinal ependymomas treated at a single institution. In this retrospective study, medical records of 14 pediatric patients (3 females and 11 males) who were surgically treated for spinal ependymoma in our institution between 1995 and 2020 were reviewed. Data regarding age, gender, presenting symptoms and signs, radiological findings, postoperative status, extent of resection, histopathological grading, recurrence, tumor growth, seeding, and adjuvant treatment were collected and analyzed.

Introduction: Spinal metastases are a significant concern for patients with advanced cancer, leading to pain, neurological deficits, and reduced quality of life. They occur in up to 70% of cancer patients, with the vertebral column being the most common osseous site for metastatic disease. An approximate 10% of patients with vertebral body metastases eventually develop spinal cord compression, which can potentially cause severe and permanent disability.

Background: PD is marked by both motor and non-motor symptoms, with its pathophysiology involving many neural pathways and brain regions beyond the dopaminergic system. While mainly gray matter changes have been noted, white matter changes also exist in PD. Habenula, known for its role in reward processing, mood regulation, motor functions, and cognition, is of interest due to its connection to mood disorders in PD.

Quadro-iliac plane block (QIPB) is a novel regional anesthesia technique that provides analgesia in the abdominal, lumbar, and hip regions. Case reports about the efficacy of this block in the literature are limited. In this report, we would like to share our successful QIPB experience with a patient with chronic myofascial low back pain.

Chrysin, a flavone nutraceutical, possesses several beneficial pharmacological properties, which has gained much emphasis in recent years. The biological effects of chrysin are exerted due to impeding or activating multifarious cellular and molecular pathways. Our findings indicated that chrysin inhibited tumor progression in various cancer cell lines by repressing the formation of a sphere and upregulated protein expression of Src homology region 2 domain-containing phosphatase-1 (SHP-1), alleviating phosphorylated-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (p-STAT3) and transaction workflow innovation standards team1 (Twist1), sustaining phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) and endorsing mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase1 (MEK1) overexpression, increasing the cytochrome c release, mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) collapse, and caspase-3 activity, modulating p53/ B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2)/caspase-9 cascade, cyclooxygenase- 2 (COX-2), nuclear factor kappa B proposition 65 (NF-kB p65) expression and also decreasing the expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2).

Purpose: This report aims to present a case of a child with holocord pilocytic astrocytoma and review the existing literature to provide insights into current management strategies.
Case Presentation: An 11-month-old patient presented with progressive quadriplegia and was initially diagnosed with a spinal abscess. MRI revealed a heterogeneously enhancing cystic intramedullary lesion extending from the cervicomedullary region to the conus medullaris.

Purpose: Our study aimed to evaluate the incidence and anatomical locations of cerebral venous malformations (CVMs), their alterations over time, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of their relationships with each other in patients who underwent magnetic susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) and contrast-enhanced MRI.
Methods: The drainage pattern of developmental venous anomalies (DVAs), the number of collecting veins, DVA thrombosis, signal-intensity abnormalities, and hemosiderin deposits (nodular, diffuse, or both) related to the DVA, were examined. The alterations over time in cavernomas (type and size) were assessed.

Purpose Of Review: Although there are a lot of studies examining the effects of different blocks for postoperative analgesia after video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), the results are controversial.
Recent Findings: Paravertebral block, serratus anterior plane block and erector spinae plane block appear to be effective and beneficial for post-VATS analgesia, but probably in different manners.
Summary: All three blocks can be suggested for daily practice, the choice should be based on personal experience and preference of the anesthetist.

Total resection of glioblastoma (GB) tumors is nearly impossible, and systemic administration of temozolomide (TMZ) is often inadequate. This study presents a hybrid layered composite nanofiber mesh (LHN) designed for localized treatment in GB tumor bed. The LHN, consisting of polyvinyl alcohol and core-shell polylactic acid layers, was loaded with TMZ and rutin.

Background: Arachnoid cysts are extra parenchymal, intra-arachnoid fluid collections of unknown origin, similar in content to cerebrospinal fluid. Suprasellar arachnoid cysts are a rarer localization resulting from abnormalities of the Liliequist membrane or cystic dilatation of the interpeduncular cisterna. We aimed to contribute to the literature by presenting a series of suprasellar arachnoid cyst cases with endoscopic intervention and long-term results.

Introduction: Craniosynostosis, marked by premature skull suture closure, manifests as isolated or syndromic cases. While isolated cases are more common, syndromic craniosynostoses are associated with a range of complications. This study aims to compare postoperative outcomes in isolated and syndromic craniosynostosis, hypothesizing greater complications in the latter.

Scientific discoveries often hinge on synthesizing decades of research, a task that potentially outstrips human information processing capacities. Large language models (LLMs) offer a solution. LLMs trained on the vast scientific literature could potentially integrate noisy yet interrelated findings to forecast novel results better than human experts.

Objective: Despite the growing number of female medical students, there remains a significant disparity between the number of female and male neurosurgeons. This study aims to determine if this trend is also evident among medical students, examine how various medical schools worldwide are addressing this issue, and propose potential solutions.
Methods: The data includes anonymous baseline information from congress registrations, the abstract submission system, and 2 surveys designed to assess student experiences before and after the congress.

Background And Objectives: Endovascular therapy (EVT) has recently become the most widely used treatment method for intracranial aneurysms (IAs). However, the literature on this topic is heterogeneous, with studies assessing and reporting surgical and clinical outcomes in different ways, lacking standardization. We aimed to evaluate the quality of these studies and propose a reporting guideline focusing on essential elements to ensure reproducibility and comparability.

Gram-negative bacilli and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) are rare causative agents in the etiology of bacterial meningitis and can lead to significant mortality due to the difficulty of treatment. This article reports three successive cases of different meningitis clinical presentations in an immunosuppressed patient diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. A 65-year-old male patient was initially followed with Morganella morganii meningitis.

Background: Our aim is to explore silymarin's protective effects against endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress via protein kinase R-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase (PERK) modulation and elucidate potential enriched pathways through in silico analysis of silymarin-associated PERK protein interactors in cerebral ischaemia-reperfusion (IR) injury.
Materials And Methods: 30 rats were categorized into three groups: sham, IR and IR + silymarin groups. Cerebral IR damage was not induced.

Aims: We aimed to evaluate the treatment outcomes and associated prognostic factors in breast cancer (BC) patients who had bone-only oligometastatic disease (OMD) and we tried to determine the subgroup that would benefit most from stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR).
Materials And Methods: We enrolled 47 patients with a total of 63 lesions with bone-only oligometastatic BC who underwent SABR for all bone lesions between July 2013 and March 2022. Cases with bone-only metastatic disease with up to 5 metastatic lesions that can be safely treated with SABR were included in this study.
