Professor believes that the stagnation in the thoroughfare and conception vessels, retarded circulation of and blood, and the obstruction of blood flow in the uterus are implicated in the pathogenesis of pelvic congestion syndrome. In clinical practice, according to the pathogenesis, focusing on regulating the functions of the thoroughfare and conception vessels, the thinking of treatment is summarized as "resolving the stasis and stopping pain by regulating the thoroughfare and conception vessels", "selecting the points based on their indications" and "tranquilizing the mind and harmonizing the physical and mental states".

Radix Bupleuri-Radix Paeoniae Alba herb pair (RB-RPA) is the fundamental medication combination of many classic antidepressant prescriptions, and RB-RPA's antidepressant effect is well established. For an extended period, the involvement of intestinal flora in the progression of depression has been widely acknowledged. However, it remains unclear whether RB-RPA could modulate intestinal microbiota disturbances and metabolic abnormalities induced by depression.

GABA modulate NF-κB/NLRP3 pathways in electroacupuncture prevention of depression in CUMS rats.

Brain Res Bull

November 2024

Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiangan Hospital of Xiamen University, School of Medicine, Xiamen University, Xiamen, PR China; Shenzhen Research Institute of Xiamen University, Shenzhen, PR China. Electronic address:

Background: Our previous research has demonstrated that electroacupuncture (EA) has the potential to mitigate depression-like symptoms resulting from chronic stress. However, further investigation is required to fully understand the underlying mechanisms. The regulatory role of γ-aminobutyric acid type B (GABA) in synaptic plasticity and the involvement of NF-κB/NLRP3-mediated inflammation in the lateral habenula nucleus (LHb) are key factors in the development of depression.

Background: Emerging evidence from observational studies and clinical trials suggests a connection between the gut microbiota and variations in bone mineral density (BMD). Nonetheless, the specific association between gut microbiota and BMD alterations at different skeletal sites has not been comprehensively explored. To address this, we employed Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) summary statistics from a publicly accessible database, conducting a two-sample Mendelian Randomization analysis to elucidate the potential causal relationship between gut microbiota composition and BMD.

Background: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) has a high clinical prevalence and frequently interferes with patients normal lives. In KOA patients, evidence suggests that intra-articular (IA) injection improves joint function and decreases discomfort. Several IA injection treatments are used in daily practice to improve symptomatic control of knee osteoarthritis, but their efficacy is frequently disputed.

Article Synopsis
  • The study looked at how moxibustion, a type of heat therapy, affects a specific signaling pathway and immune function in rats with a type of diarrhea called IBS-D.
  • Researchers used a group of young rats, some healthy and some made to have IBS-D through different stress methods, and then divided them into three treatment groups: one with moxibustion, one with medication, and a model group without treatment.
  • After testing, they found changes in body weight, stool consistency, and immune responses in the rats, suggesting moxibustion might help improve some symptoms of IBS-D.
