Background: The hypoxic microenvironment is a key component of the gastric tumour niche. Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 6 (CEACAM6) is upregulated in gastric cancer and is considered a novel biomarker for the disease. However, no prior studies have elaborated on the status of CEACAM6 and its role in the hypoxic gastric cancer niche.

Importance: Metastases to the submandibular gland (SMG) from oral cavity primaries are very rare. Hence, a gland-preserving level IB dissection technique is a feasible option without compromising the lymph node yield (LNY).
Objective: To assess the feasibility and noninferiority of the SMG-preserving dissection technique to the conventional en bloc removal of level IB in terms of LNY in patients with cN0 oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) undergoing elective neck dissection.

A crucial parameter in determining the prognosis of oral cavity cancer is depth of invasion (DOI). This research aimed to correlate pathological DOI at different intra-oral anatomical sites for oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) with the risk of regional lymph node metastasis (LNM). This study also investigated the correlation of 3-year overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS) with tumor depth.

Lalatendu Moharana The Anaplastic lymphoma kinase inhibitors (ALKi) represent the standard of care for metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with EML4-ALK rearrangements. Various ALKi agents are available; however, not all eligible patients receive treatment with them due to various reasons. Given the limited real-world data available in our country, we aimed to assess treatment outcomes through a multicenter collaboration.

Background: Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is a highly aggressive malignant tumor with a poor prognosis. Despite being first described two centuries ago, there are no targeted therapies available beyond conventional cytotoxic therapy. Epidemiological studies have shown that the incidence of gallbladder cancer is higher in females than males.

Introduction: Although sevoflurane and desflurane have nearly identical blood-gas solubilities, current research suggests that airway reflexes recover more quickly with desflurane than sevoflurane; however, cognitive function recovery varies substantially. The current study was piloted to appraise the lengths of time needed to recover from anesthesia following desflurane and sevoflurane anesthesia.
Materials And Methods: A prospective clinical trial was piloted among 70 adult non-obese subjects who underwent elective surgery and were classified I-II by the " (ASA)".

Background: Itolizumab downregulates the synthesis of proinflammatory cytokines and adhesion molecules by inhibiting CD6 leading to lower levels of interferon-γ, interleukin-6, and tumor necrotic factor-α and reduced T-cell infiltration at inflammatory sites. This study aims to compare the effects of tocilizumab and itolizumab in the management of severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Methods: The study population was adults (>18 years) with severe COVID-19 pneumonia admitted to the intensive care unit receiving either tocilizumab or itolizumab during their stay.

Background: Tumor immunology plays a significant role in predicting tumor biology and how a tumor is going to respond to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are the easiest and by far the cheapest method of assessing tumor immunity. Many studies have suggested that TILs play an important role in tumor regression in breast cancer.

Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the incidence of micrometastasis (MMs) and isolated tumor cells (ITCs) in node-negative early-stage oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (T1-T2 N0). The secondary objective was to correlate the incidence with the clinicopathologic parameters of age, sex, depth of invasion, pattern of invasion, host lymphocytic response, and size and grade of primary tumor.
Study Design: Micrometastasis and ITCs in cervical nodes of 30 patients with early-stage oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma were detected and compared using 3 methods: routine hematoxylin and eosin staining, serial-sectioning at intervals of 150 microns employing hematoxylin and eosin, and serial sectioning pan-cytokeratin immunostaining.

Introduction Cervical cancer is the most common gynaecological malignancy worldwide, with a higher prevalence in middle- and low-income countries. Chemoradiotherapy, followed by intracavitary brachytherapy, is the treatment of choice in locally advanced cervical cancer. The most common acute side effect of external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) is bowel toxicity in the form of diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

Purpose: To determine if video-based educational intervention compared to the standard verbal guidelines, provided to caregivers on home-based palliative care could enhance the quality of life (QoL) in advanced head and neck cancer (HNC) patients.
Methods: The study employed a prospective, two-arm parallel-group, randomized controlled trial design. Investigators prepared a real-world demonstrational video of ten minutes duration regarding home-based care for family caregivers, with voice-over in Odia language (Eastern India).

The pathogenesis of gallbladder cancer is complex, involving environmental and genetic risk factors. The matrix metallopeptidase 14 (MMP14) alters the tumor microenvironment and promotes tumorigenesis. In this study, we have characterized the role of the MMP14 promoter variants rs1004030 and rs1003049 in gallbladder cancer pathogenesis.

Introduction: Omentectomy is an essential part of cytoreductive surgery (CRS). However, removal of perigastric arcade (PGA) of the omentum is a controversial aspect of omentectomy in view of the fear of injury, vascular compromise and gastroparesis. Hence, we conducted a study to evaluate the necessity and effect of removal of PGA during omentectomy.

Background And Aims: Sedation in paediatric cancer for fractionated radiation treatment (RT) is unique as the child has to be still for accurate delivery of RT, monitoring of the child is from a remote location and sedation is repeated for multiple sessions of RT. The present study was undertaken to compare the efficacy of intranasal dexmedetomidine with oral midazolam and ketamine combination for repeated sedation during fractionated RT in paediatric oncology.
Methods: Ninety children aged between 3-6 years, planned for 21 fractions of RT, were randomised to receive intranasal dexmedetomidine 2 μg/kg (group D) or oral midazolam 0.

Background: The aim of the study was to assess the dosimetric comparison of bone marrow between standard IMRT(SD-IMRT) and bone marrow sparing IMRT (BMS-IMRT) among carcinoma cervix patients who underwent radical or adjuvant chemoradiation in a tertiary cancer center.
Materials And Methods: Forty eligible patients of histo-pathologically proven carcinoma cervix were enrolled in the study that was randomized on a 1:1 basis between SD-IMRT and BMS-IMRT from July 2018 to October 2019. The whole pelvis, bilateral femoral heads, and upper 1/3 femur were contoured using the whole bone technique as a surrogate marker for the bone marrow.
