Sarcopenia, being prevalent in up to 70% of cancer patients, is associated with adverse clinical outcomes. The use of the Simple Questionnaire for Rapidly Diagnose of Sarcopenia (SARC-F), a questionnaire developed to screen for sarcopenia, remains to be investigated in cancer patients. The aim in this study was to assess the prognostic value of SARC-F on one-year mortality in cancer patients at high nutritional risk.

Background: This study was designed to assess if thiol-disulfide homeostasis could be used as diagnostic biomarker in noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) in a laboratory animal model.
Methods: The study was carried out with a total of 28 female albino rats in 4 groups: group 1 (control group) included rats that were not exposed to noise or any study treatment; in group 2, following noise exposure, rats received 2 mg of dexamethasone per kilogram of body weight via the intramuscular route for 5 days; in Group 3, rats were exposed to noise and received a saline solution for 5 days, in a volume (0.15 cc) matched to that of dexamethasone administered in group 2; and in group 4, rats were exposed to noise, and blood samples were collected during the early phase to assess thiol-disulfide homeostasis without administering any treatment.

Objectives: To determine the effects of hyperandrogenemia and other phenotypic parameters on endometrial vitamin D receptor (VDR-X2 and VDR-X4) expression in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) undergoing ovarian stimulation and total embryo freezing.
Methods: Forty-four PCOS patients were divided into four phenotypes according to the criteria for hyperandrogenemia (HA), ovulatory dysfunction (OD), and polycystic ovary morphology (PCOM): phenotype A (HA+OD+PCOM), phenotype B (HA+OD), phenotype C (HA+PCOM), and phenotype D (OD+PCOM). Endometrial VDR expression was determined by real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry.

Objective: Our institutional data revealed high pneumothorax rates in term neonates resuscitated in the delivery room (DR). Other studies have reported that high rates of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in the DR are associated with increased pneumothorax rates. We sought to test the hypothesis that quality improvement efforts to reduce the use of CPAP in the DR would be associated with a reduced incidence of pneumothorax.

This case series included 10 patients who underwent clavicular fracture surgery under general anesthesia. A novel analgesic approach combining 2 distinct nerve block techniques-serratus posterior superior intercostal plane block (SPSIPB) and clavipectoral plane block (CPPB)-was used for postoperative pain management. SPSIPB provided sensory blockade for the innervation of the clavicular skin, whereas CPPB targeted the clavipectoral fascia.

Acute appendicitis is an abrupt inflammation of the appendix, which causes symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever. Computed tomography (CT) is a useful tool in accurate diagnosis of acute appendicitis; however, it causes challenges due to factors such as the anatomical structure of the colon and localization of the appendix in CT images. In this paper, a novel Convolutional Neural Network model, namely, LesionScanNet for the computer-aided detection of acute appendicitis has been proposed.

Introduction: Rosacea, a chronic inflammatory disease primarily affecting the central area of the face, is a complex condition whose mechanisms are still not fully understood. However, research has indicated a positive correlation between two molecules: hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). The levels of HIF-1α in rosacea patients have yet to be assessed.

Although the bifrontal approach provides good bilateral visual access to the anterior cranial fossa, it is associated with the risk of injury to the frontal bridging veins and superior sagittal sinus, infection, and CSF leakage due to the frontal sinus neighborhood.
Material And Methods: This was a retrospective review of 16patients (nine men and seven women) with large and giant OGMs operated through unilateral extended pterional craniotomy between 2010 and 2022.

Brexpirazole was approved for the treatment of nonpsychotic agitation in Alzheimer's disease (AD) dementia by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in May 2023 after three phase 3 clinical trials found brexpiprazole 2 to 3 mg/day to be an effective and well-tolerated treatment for agitation in AD dementia, albeit with small effect sizes. It appeared to especially benefit dementia patients with severe agitation/aggression, but it took between 6 and 12 weeks across the three studies for the medication to separate from placebo. However, much remains unknown about its place in the psychopharmacological armamentarium for the treatment of AD dementia-related agitation, including the optimal duration of a brexpiprazole trial, bridging options during the time it takes for brexpiprazole to become effective, and whether it should be continued in the presence of or upon emergence of psychosis during treatment.

: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is the most common idiopathic interstitial pneumonia. Multiple genetic factors, environmental exposures, micro-aspirations secondary to gastroesophageal reflux, age, sex, smoking habit, and infections contribute to its etiology; consequently, its pathogenesis remains unclear. The homeostasis of gut microbiota, including bacteria, archaea, and fungi, can influence the functions of both the intestine and remote organs.

Objective: Ideal volume of 5% dextrose (D5W) for median nerve hydrodissection (HD) for treating carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is still unknown. This study assessed the efficacy of nerve hydrodissection using varying volumes of D5W for treating mild to moderate CTS.
Design: Eighty participants with unilateral mild to moderate CTS were randomized into groups to receive either 5 ml of normal saline (NS), 5 ml of D5W, 10 ml of NS, and 10 ml of D5W, with each group undergoing one session of ultrasound-guided HD.
