Background: Biliary fistula is one of the most important complications in liver transplantation. Complications can vary from simple local peritonitis to death, and various techniques have been described to prevent them. We aimed to assess whether ovarian reserve test including serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol (E2), anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) levels, and antral follicle count (AFC) which are ovarian reserve markers are affected by ultraviolet (UV) radiation or not.Women between the ages of 25 and 40 who served as flight crew constituted the study population in this prospective case-control study. Age-matched women having no risk factor for low ovarian reserve were selected as control group.

Improvement of Work Productivity and Quality of Life with Anti-Tumor Necrosis Factor Treatment Used in Crohn's Disease in Routine Clinical Practice in Turkey.

Background: Patients with Crohn's disease experience major deterioration in work productivity and quality of life. We aimed to provide the long-term effects of anti-tumor necrosis factor agents on work productivity and activity impairment and quality of life in patients with Crohn's disease using the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire and the Short-Form Health Survey-36.

Methods: Patients with Crohn's disease and initiated an anti-tumor necrosis factor treatment were included and followed up for 12 months in this observational study.

Does anterolateral ligament internal bracing improve the outcomes of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in patients with generalized joint hypermobility?

Background: Generalized joint hypermobility (GJH) is a risk factor for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and ACL graft failure and is considered an indication for anterolateral ligament (ALL) reconstruction. The aim of this retrospective study was to compare functional outcomes, rupture rates, and residual instability in patients with GJH undergoing isolated ACL reconstruction or combined ACL reconstruction and ALL augmentation with internal bracing (ALL-IB).

Methods: Sixty-eight patients with GJH and unilateral ACL injury were randomly assigned to undergo either isolated ACL reconstruction (Group 1) or combined ACL reconstruction and ALL-IB (Group 2).

Arthroscopic coracoclavicular button fixation versus anatomic locking plate fixation for unstable distal clavicular fractures.

Hypothesis: Neer type II distal clavicle fractures are unstable and associated with high nonunion rates. The aim of this retrospective study was to compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes of anatomic locking plate fixation and arthroscopic coracoclavicular button fixation for unstable distal clavicle fractures.

Methods: Forty-seven patients with Neer type II distal clavicle fractures were treated surgically using either anatomic locking plate fixation (group 1, n = 20) or all arthroscopic coracoclavicular button fixation (group 2, n = 27) between 2012 and 2019 in 2 centers.

Can the arterial clamp method be used safely where a tourniquet cannot be used?

Background: Clamp application is safe and widely used in the visceral organs. This raises the question: why not use clamping in orthopaedic, oncological, fracture and revision surgeries of areas where tourniquets are not suitable. This experimental animal study aimed to compare tourniquet and arterial clamp applications with regard to their histological effects and inflammatory responses on a molecular level, on the artery, vein, nerve and muscle tissue.

Recurrent implantation failure (RIF) is diagnosed when good-quality embryos repeatedly fail to implant after transfer in several in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment cycles. A rare presentation of Susac syndrome: Report of three pediatric cases.

Susac syndrome is a rare disorder that is clinically characterized by encephalopathy, retinopathy and hearing loss. Most of the reported cases in the literature are adult patients, pediatric presentation is extremely rare. Here we present three pediatric patients aged between 10-15; diagnosed as Susac syndrome.

Surgical treatment and outcomes of intramedullary tumors by minimally invasive approach.

Intramedullary tumors are uncommon neoplasms which, without treatment, can cause neurologic morbidity or mortality. The goal of the treatment is complete surgical resection with a minimally invasive approach while preserving neurological status and also spinal stability. Out of 1972 patients with tumors of the spinal canal treated between 1994 and 2017, 168 intramedullary tumors of 417 intradural tumors have been presented.

Porto-mesenteric vein thrombosis after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. A case report.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Transforaminal Epidural Steroid Injection in Lumbar Spinal Stenosis.

Objectives: Transforaminal epidural steroid injection reduces the low back-leg pain and enables daily activities of the patients. In this study, we aim to evaluate the treatment of transforaminal epidural steroid injection for lumbar spinal stenosis, which was mainly performed for lumbar disc herniation and share our diagnostic experience for lumbar spinal stenosis which is treated surgically.

Methods: In our study, 37 patients were included who were treated by transforaminal epidural steroid injection for Grade B lumbar spinal stenosis in our clinic between June-2014 and June-2018.

Epidural hemostasis by autologous fat graft in minimally invasive surgery for lumbar spinal stenosis: In vivo experimental study.

Background: Epidural hemostasis needs to use small, adapted material in minimally invasive surgery, including bilateral decompression via a unilateral approach for lumbar spinal stenosis. Most surgeons avoid external material for hemostasis because of possible neural tissue damage or complications. We compared epidural hemostasis in minimally invasive surgery by fat graft versus gelatin sponge.

Surgical Outcomes of Extraforaminal Microdiskectomy by Midline Incision for Far-Lateral Lumbar Disk Herniation.

Background:  Far-lateral lumbar disk herniation (FLDH) is defined as a disk herniation located laterally to the medial wall of the pedicle. The aim of our study is to describe the extraforaminal microdiskectomy by midline incision for FLDH, which does not include laminotomy-partial facetectomy, and to evaluate mid-term surgical outcomes.

Outcome of Corticosteroid Injections, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy, and Radiofrequency Thermal Lesioning for Chronic Plantar Fasciitis.

Background: Chronic heel pain with plantar fasciitis is relatively common and can affect adults of all ages regardless of an active or sedentary lifestyle. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of corticosteroid injection (CSI), extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), and radiofrequency thermal lesioning (RTL) treatments in chronic plantar heel pain that has been unresponsive to other conservative treatments.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the results of 217 patients treated with CSI ( = 73), ESWT ( = 75), and RTL ( = 69).
