Objective: Inflammation plays an important role in the initiation of postoperative atrial fibrillation (PoAF) in individuals undergoing cardiac surgery, Thus, this study aimed to investigate the predictive value of the systemic immune inflammation index (SII) to develop PoAF in such patients.
Methods: In total, 391 consecutive patients undergoing an isolated coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) were retrospectively analyzed. PoAF was defined according to the current guideline.

Purpose: To investigate the relationship between failure to insert a ureteral access sheath (UAS) with inflammation and other clinical parameters in patients treated with flexible ureteroscopy for renal stones.
Methods: This study included patients who underwent flexible ureteroscopy for the treatment of renal stones in our centre between 2015 and 2020. Patients who underwent any surgical procedure on the ipsilateral ureter and had a history of spontaneous stone passage were excluded.

In current practice, it is not well-known whether the development of air bubbles spontaneously in the heart during routine transthoracic echocardiography examination has a clinical consequence. Even though there have been published case reports regarding the formation of air bubbles due to iatrogenic reasons, we could not find a case of a patient demonstrating spontaneous air bubbles formation due to only coughing. Thus, in this report, we present a case of an adult patient who had unexpected air bubbles in the heart after coughing.

Objective: This research aimed to evaluate whether the neutrophil to lymphocyte and platelet (N/LP) ratio may be used to predict the risk of admission to the intensive care unit (ICU), the need for mechanical ventilation and in-hospital mortality in Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.
Methods: The study was conducted retrospectively on the data of 134 COVID-19 patients who were admitted to the ICU. The N/LP ratio was calculated as follows: neutrophil count x 100 / (lymphocyte count x platelet count).

Introduction: We aimed to evaluate the impact of the resection technique (tumor enucleation (TE) or standard partial nephrectomy (SPN)) on trifecta outcomes in patients having undergone partial nephrectomy (PN).
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical and pathologic parameters in patients with localized renal cell carcinoma (pT1-2N0M0) who had undergone PN between January 2001-December 2018 at one of 15 different tertiary referral centers. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was applied to investigate independent predictors of trifecta failure, decreased postoperative renal functions (decreased estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) > 10%), perioperative complications (Clavien-Dindo > 1), and positive surgical margins.

Objective: Patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) constitute a significant portion of hip fracture patients, and both diseases tend to present more frequently in older age. Our goal was to evaluate the long-term mortality of patients with AF who were free from heart failure undergoing hip fracture surgery.
Methods: This observational, retrospective study was done in a single research and training hospital setting.

Objective: The Pain Sensitivity Questionnaire (PSQ) is a clinically beneficial instrument that has been proven to be correlated with various experimental pain sensitivity assessments in healthy people and in patients with chronic pain. In this study, we aimed to translate the PSQ into Turkish (PSQ-T) and validate it for the measurement of pain sensitivity among Turkish people.
Methods: Seventy-three patients with chronic back pain who were planning to undergo an interventional procedure completed the Brief Pain Inventory-Short Form (BPI-SF), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory, Pain Catastrophizing Scale, and PSQ prior to their procedure.

Objective: To assess the biometric features of keratoconic eyes using the Lenstar LS900 and Pentacam systems relative to healthy myopic eyes.
Materials And Methods: Seventy-three eyes of keratoconic subjects and 83 eyes of control subjects were enrolled. To evaluate the reproducibility of the Lenstar and Pentacam devices' measurements, keratometric readings [in flattest meridian (Kf), in steepest meridian (Ks), and mean (Km)], central corneal thickness (CCT), and anterior chamber depth (ACD) were obtained using both systems.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) disease leads to a hypercoagulable state and associated with thrombotic events that can cause mortality and morbidity. Thrombotic events include both venous and arterial thrombosis. In this case report, we present a 68-year-old COVID-19 patient with multisystemic infarction who was admitted to the hospital by splenic infarction and later pulmonary embolism diagnosed during the stay in hospital despite anticoagulant use.

The tuck-and-pull technique was developed for practical and safe explantations of posterior chamber phakic intraocular lenses (PCPIOLs). In this technique, after the creation of a side port, viscoelastic (or OVD [ophthalmic viscosurgical device]) is initially injected behind the PCPIOL to widen the space between PCPIOL and the crystalline lens. The old incisions can be used after recent implantations rendering the enlargement of the main incision unnecessary.

Background: Galactose-deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1) has an increased tendency to form immunocomplexes with IgG in the serum, contributing to IgAN pathogenesis by accumulating in the glomerular mesangium. Several studies showed that glomerular IgG deposition in IgAN is an important cause of mesangial proliferation and glomerular damage. This study aims to determine the association of the positivity of IgG and the intensity of IgG staining with a poor renal prognosis.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate and compare the effects of conventional and robot-assisted gait training (RAGT) programs on fatigue, mood, and quality of life in patients with multiple sclerosis who have fatigue.
Methods: In this single-blinded, randomized controlled study, 37 patients with multiple sclerosis were randomized into two groups: RAGT ( n = 18) and conventional gait training ( n = 19). The RAGT group had gait training with RoboGait, whereas the conventional gait training group received conventional physiotherapist-assisted gait training.

Whole blood viscosity (WBV) is considered as a reasonable proxy measure of blood flow, and it has been investigated in different cohort settings, including in patients with deep venous thrombosis, arterial thrombosis, acute stent thrombosis, and left ventricular apical thrombus formation following acute coronary syndrome. To determine the association between WBV and the presence of thrombus in the left atrium (LA) or left atrial appendage (LAA) in individuals who had transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE). The clinical data from 262 consecutive patients who had TEE at our facility were included in this retrospective cohort study.

In the emergency departments (ED), the incidence of admission is increasing gradually due to gastrointestinal system (GIS) complications of hemodialysis (HD) patients. With this increasing number of patients, there are many classification systems developed in early risk assessment before endoscopy. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the Glasgow-Blatchford Score's (GBS) effectiveness in HD patients with suspected GIS hemorrhage in the ED.

P-wave dispersion (PWD) obtained from the standard 12-lead electrocardiography (ECG) is considered to reflect the homogeneity of the atrial electrical activity. The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the effect of percutaneous chronic total occlusion (CTO) revascularization on the parameters of P wave duration and PWD on ECG in cases before and after procedure at 12 months. We analyzed 90 consecutive CTO cases who were on sinus rhythm and underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy on choroidal structural changes and choroidal vascularity index (CVI) in patients with OSAS.
Methods: Choroidal structural changes in patients with OSAS immediately after diagnosis and 12 months after CPAP treatment were evaluated and compared with healthy controls. The choroidal images on enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) were binarized into luminal area (LA) and stromal area (SA) using the ImageJ software.
