Background & Aims: Validated prognostic tools for estimating short-term bile duct disease progression in primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) are lacking. We evaluated the predictive value of serum and biliary biochemistry for the progression of bile duct disease in PSC using repeated endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) examinations to identify surrogate markers for more personalized surveillance.
Methods: We conducted a prospective analysis including patients with PSC who underwent ERCP for confirmation of diagnosis, monitoring of disease progression, or dysplasia surveillance.

Obesity is a major global health issue with various metabolic complications. Both bariatric surgery and dieting achieve weight loss and improve whole-body metabolism, but vary in their ability to maintain these improvements over time. Adipose tissue and skeletal muscle metabolism are crucial in weight regulation, and obesity is linked to mitochondrial dysfunction in both tissues.

Purpose: Laser ablation is one of the newest and most advanced minimally invasive techniques in treating pilonidal sinus disease (PSD). Most studies on the subject have small sample sizes and relatively short follow-up times, making evaluation of long-term healing rates and recurrences difficult. Furthermore, long-term results for laser surgery of PSD are still lacking.

Background: Surgical de-escalation aims to reduce morbidity without compromising oncological outcomes. Trials to de-escalate breast cancer (BC) surgery among exceptional responders after neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) are ongoing. Combined patient and clinician insights on this strategy are unknown.

Background: There are currently limited data regarding the effect of semaglutide 2·4 mg in individuals with obesity and prediabetes in clinical trials. We aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of semaglutide 2·4 mg for weight management and glycaemic control in participants with obesity and prediabetes.
Methods: STEP 10 was a randomised, double-blind, parallel-group, phase 3 trial done across 30 trial sites in Canada, Denmark, Finland, Spain, and the UK and included participants aged 18 years or older with a BMI of 30 kg/m or higher and prediabetes according to UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence criteria (defined as having at least one of the following at screening: HbA of 6·0-6·4% [42-47 mmol/mol] or fasting plasma glucose [FPG] of 5·5-6·9 mmol/L).

Background: Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) compared to tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) leads to lower body weight and plasma lipids by an unknown mechanism. We hypothesize that TDF, when absorbed, may damage enterocytes of the proximal duodenum, leading to reduced absorption of nutrients.
Methods: People living with HIV, without significant gastrointestinal symptoms, receiving TDF (n=12) or TAF (n=12) containing regimen underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopies with duodenal biopsies.

Objectives: Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreaticography (MRCP) has supplanted endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreaticography (ERCP) as the preferred imaging modality for primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). However, data about the accuracy of MRCP in assessing disease severity are limited, particularly in children. We assessed the accuracy of MRCP in disease severity evaluation and investigated the correlation between imaging findings and biochemical parameters (including the multivariate risk index SCOPE) in patients with pediatric-onset PSC.

Purpose: To analyze treatment persistence and treatment outcomes of vedolizumab as first-line biological treatment in Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) patients in a Finnish real-world setting.
Methods: Observational, retrospective, multi-center chart review study that included adult CD and UC patients initiating vedolizumab as first-line biological treatment between 2014 and 2020.
Results: The cohort consisted of 54 CD and 69 UC patients.

Background: A few prospective cohort studies support the safety of switching from intravenous to subcutaneous administration of vedolizumab during maintenance therapy in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Real-life data on switching after intravenous induction therapy are lacking.
Objective: The aim was to obtain real-world data on subcutaneous vedolizumab treatment in patients with inflammatory bowel disease after switching from intravenous vedolizumab induction or maintenance therapy, and to evaluate treatment persistence, safety, and changes in disease activity and serum vedolizumab concentrations.

Background And Aims: A new definition of dominant stricture (NDS) has recently been defined for patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). Prevalence and clinical features of this, compared to traditional dominant stricture (TDS), have not been reported.
Methods: In this single-centre longitudinal prospective cohort study, all PSC patients who underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) between October 2021 and 2022 were recruited.

Background And Aims: In retrospective studies, wound healing and leg salvage have been better if revascularization is targeted to the crural artery supplying arterial flow to the wound angiosome. No data exist on how revascularization changes the blood flow in foot angiosomes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the change in perfusion after infrapopliteal artery revascularization in all foot angiosomes and to compare directly revascularized (DR) angiosomes to the indirectly revascularized (IR) angiosomes.

Background: Chronic kidney disease affects 10% of the population worldwide, and the number of patients receiving treatment for end-stage kidney disease is forecasted to increase. Therefore, there is a pressing need for innovative digital solutions that increase the efficiency of care and improve patients' quality of life. The aim of the eHealth in Home Dialysis project is to create a novel eHealth solution, called eC4Me, to facilitate predialysis and home dialysis care for patients with chronic kidney disease.

We evaluated whether previous inguinal hernia repair may affect the choice of prostate carcinoma treatment in a population-based cohort. It has been suggested that previous laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair (LIHR) could limit the subsequent possibility of performing a prostatectomy. Several small studies have suggested otherwise.
