In our study on the effect of cadmium (Cd) toxicity (200 µM) on the growth of (L.) Moench plants, cultivated with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) () and/or under seaweed treatment (3% extract) (), we found that AMF increased the tolerance of sorghum to cadmium stress, either alone or in combination with the seaweed treatment. Morphological parameters were higher in these two culture conditions, with increased chlorophyll content.

Nomex honeycomb composites (NHCs) are commonly used in various industrial sectors such as aerospace and automotive sectors due to their excellent material properties. However, when machining this type of structure, problems can arise due to significant cutting forces and unwanted cell vibrations. In order to remedy these shortcomings, this study proposes to integrate RUM (rotary ultrasonic machining) technology, which consists of applying ultrasonic vibrations along the axis of rotation of the cutter.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) comprises a broad range of liver disease including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with is no FDA-approved drug. Liver pyruvate kinase (PKL) is a major regulator of metabolic flux and ATP generation in liver presenting a potential target for the treatment of NAFLD. Based on our recent finding of JNK-5A's effectiveness in inhibiting PKLR expression through a drug repositioning pipeline, this study aims to improve its efficacy further.

Diabetic retinopathy is considered one of the most common diseases that can lead to blindness in the working age, and the chance of developing it increases as long as a person suffers from diabetes. Protecting the sight of the patient or decelerating the evolution of this disease depends on its early detection as well as identifying the exact levels of this pathology, which is done manually by ophthalmologists. This manual process is very consuming in terms of the time and experience of an expert ophthalmologist, which makes developing an automated method to aid in the diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy an essential and urgent need.

  • This study focuses on creating an effective electrochemical electrode by adding potassium montmorillonite (MMT) clay to a carbon matrix, aimed at accurately detecting paracetamol (PAR) in pharmaceuticals.
  • The electrode's performance is characterized using methods like cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry, showing a responsive detection range for PAR and a low limit of detection (0.46 μM) with around 94% recovery.
  • The research utilizes density functional theory (DFT) and Monte Carlo simulations to explore PAR's interactions on the electrode surface, confirming strong correlations between theoretical predictions and experimental findings, leading to a sensor with rapid response, high sensitivity, and durability.

Dynamics of quantum coherence and nonlocality of a two-spin system in the chemical compass.

Phys Rev E

March 2024

Laboratory of R&D in Engineering Sciences, Faculty of Sciences and Techniques Al-Hoceima, Abdelmalek Essaadi University, BP 34. Ajdir 32003, Tetouan, Morocco.

In this paper a system consisting of two electron spins has been prepared initially in a singlet state using the chemical compass model is considered. It is assumed that each electron spin interacts symmetrically and/or asymmetrically with its respective private nuclear environment in the presence of an external magnetic field. We discussed the effect of the interaction parameters and the external magnetic field on some quantifiers of quantum correlations as entanglement, coherence, Bell inequality, as well as the steerability inequality.

This study tackles the complex task of integrating wind energy systems into the electric grid, facing challenges such as power oscillations and unreliable energy generation due to fluctuating wind speeds. Focused on wind energy conversion systems, particularly those utilizing double-fed induction generators (DFIGs), the research introduces a novel approach to enhance Direct Power Control (DPC) effectiveness. Traditional DPC, while simple, encounters issues like torque ripples and reduced power quality due to a hysteresis controller.
