This review seeks to establish a baseline on the current knowledge and gaps in the scientific literature on the invasive macroalgae Rugulopteryx okamurae. Through a systematic literature analysis we summarize the insights regarding distribution and potential impacts as non-indigenous species associated with its expansion from the Strait of Gibraltar since first detected by 2015. After 10 years, this invasive alien macroalgae has broadly expanded across the Mediterranean Sea (France, Spain, Morocco and Italy) and the Atlantic coasts (Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Madeira, Azores and Canary Islands).

This study reviews advances in chemical detection methods applied to the metabolic products known as uric acid (UA) and xanthine (XA), which are residues of purine metabolism, with XA being an important intermediate preceding UA. UA and XA play crucial roles in maintaining physiological homeostasis in organisms. Chemical modification of electrodes is a widely used method to address the issues of poor sensitivity and selectivity encountered with bare electrodes.

Water resources, particularly rivers, are increasingly exposed to pollutants, especially heavy metals of chemical origin, which are difficult to monitor and can pose risks to both ecosystems and human health. This study assesses heavy metal contamination in the Oued Fez River, focusing on the bioaccumulation by the invasive plant Pistia stratiotes. The methodology involves measuring and comparing metal concentrations in water and plant tissues.

Monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) plays a pivotal role in the deamination process of monoamines, encompassing crucial neurotransmitters like dopamine and norepinephrine. The heightened interest in MAO-B inhibitors emerged after the revelation that this enzyme could potentially catalyze the formation of neurotoxic compounds from endogenous and exogenous sources. Computational screening methodologies serve as valuable tools in the quest for novel inhibitors, enhancing the efficiency of this pursuit.

The study aims to evaluate the behavioral and insecticidal effects of Ruta angustifolia EO (RAEO) against larvae and adults of a major pest insect, Tribolium castaneum. RAEO exhibited a strong repellency against both adults and larvae where percentages as high as 74 and 72 % of PR (Percentage of Repellency) were recorded respectively, at 0.47 μL/cm after 2 h.

Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a distinct cancer of the head and neck that is highly prevalent in Southeast Asia and North Africa. Though an extensive analysis of environmental and genetic contributors has been performed, very little is known about the proteome of this disease. A proteomic analysis of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues can provide valuable information on protein expression and molecular patterns for both increasing our understanding of the disease and for biomarker discovery.

Emphysematous hepatitis (EH) is a recently described gas forming liver infection, often associated with diabetes mellitus. It is often associated with poor prognosis, with rapidly fatal course in most reported cases. Its diagnosis is based on CT findings when an extensive gas replacing the liver parenchyma is present.

Heart rate variability (HRV) is widely recognized as an effective and valuable tool for evaluating cardiac autonomic modulation. However, various factors can influence HRV before and during assessment, complicating the interpretation and comparability of results. This review outlines the different factors affecting HRV and underscores the importance of considering them to ensure consistent and reliable HRV outcomes.

Blood-feeding arthropods are involved in the transmission of several pathogens that have a major impact on public health. Entomological investigations highlighted the composition, abundance, and diversity of flying hematophagous arthropods at four dog shelters located in central Morocco during an eight-month study, with the aim of discussing their vectorial roles and assessing the risk of these shelters as foci for zoonotic diseases. Monitoring of the arthropod fauna for 64 catch nights resulted in the collection of 2,321 biting midges (Ceratopogonidae), 570 mosquitoes (Culicidae), and 475 sand flies (Psychodidae).

This study aims to investigate the impact of carvacrol and thymol on the quality of Beni Arouss buck semen stored in skim milk at 4 °C. Ejaculates were collected from eight Beni Arouss bucks weekly for 11 weeks, pooled, and then divided into three equal parts. Samples were diluted to 400 × 10 sperm/mL in skim milk (control) and skim milk supplemented with a single dose of 200 µM carvacrol and thymol each.

Introduction: Due to its geographical proximity to Europe, Morocco experiences a significant influx of migrants from neighboring Sub-Saharan African countries. Attempts to cross the Strait of Gibraltar make Northern Morocco a stopover for Sub-Saharan migrants. However, faced with increasingly restrictive measures from European Union countries, many of these migrants are compelled to turn this transit into a prolonged stay in Morocco, often in irregular status and facing challenging socio-economic conditions that threaten their health and their quality of life-related to health.

Background: Medication adherence is one of the key elements of the management of patients with chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases (CIRDs), adherence/medication regimes are prone to being influenced by beliefs about medicines; such beliefs can influence the management and quality of life of patients. Several factors may be associated with these beliefs, including demographic and clinical factors, as well as socio-psychological factors. The aim of this study is to assess beliefs regarding medications among Moroccan patients with CIRDs, the factors associated with these beliefs, and the correlation of these factors with medication adherence.

Accurate measurement at low temperatures is essential for both gaining a fundamental understanding of physical processes and developing technological applications. In this paper, we propose a theoretical framework for quantum temperature sensing in a composite environment with non-Markovian dynamics. Our suggested system uses a single qubit as a temperature sensor to test its sensitivity in calculating the temperature of a composite environment.
