Background: This systematic review and meta-analysis assesses the association between metabolic syndrome and breast cancer (BC) outcomes in BC survivors.
Methods: Systematic searches were carried out in PubMed and Embase using variations of the search terms: breast neoplasms (population), metabolic syndrome (exposure), and survival (outcome). Metabolic syndrome was characterized according to the American Heart Association, which includes the presence of three out of five abnormal findings among the risk factors: high blood pressure, high triglycerides, low high-density lipoprotein, high fasting glucose, and central obesity.
Background: Oral treatment with the exogenous ketone body 3-hydroxybutyrate improves cardiac function in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, but ketosis is limited to 3 to 4 hours. Treatment with (R)-1,3-butanediol (BD) provides prolonged ketosis in healthy controls, but the hemodynamic and metabolic profile is unexplored in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.
Methods And Results: This was a randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study.
Introduction: Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a known complication after anthracyclines and radiotherapy for classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL). Contemporary cHL treatment may be associated with less risk because radiotherapy use and techniques have changed substantially over time.
Methods: In this study, Swedish cHL patients diagnosed in 2000-2018, and treated with adriamycin [doxorubicin], bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine (ABVD) or bleomycin, etoposide, Adriamycin [doxorubicin], cyclophosphamide, vincristine, procarbazine, and prednisone (BEACOPP), were matched 1:10 to the general population on birth year and sex to investigate relative rates and cumulative risks of CHF.
Vitamin B deficiency is usually simple to diagnose. However, our patient demonstrates that in difficult cases, the ordinary clinician may need a transdisciplinary approach. The finding of a double haploinsufficiency as a possible cause of vitamin B deficiency in our patient, illustrates the usefulness of performing large panel clinical exome sequencing.

Activation of the sympathetic nervous system is observed in pulmonary arterial hypertension patients. This study investigates whether inhibiting the conversion of dopamine into noradrenaline by dopamine -hydroxylase (DH) inhibition with BIA 21-5337 improved right ventricular (RV) function or remodeling in pressure overload-induced RV failure. RV failure was induced in male Wistar rats by pulmonary trunk banding (PTB).

Few studies report on absolute quantitative variables derived from the images, and the methods are varied with mixed results. Dual-energy CTPA (DE-CTPA) enables automatic quantification of lung and lobar perfusion with minimal user interaction by utilizing machine learning based software.

Background: Although genetic variants in are the most frequent cause of pediatric genetic dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), there are no studies available describing this entity. We sought to describe clinical features, analyze variant location, and explore predictors of bad prognosis in pediatric -related DCM.
Methods And Results: We evaluated clinical records from 44 patients (24 men; median age at diagnosis, 0.
Purpose: Absorbable interference screws for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) can lead to tunnel widening and cyst formation. The Biosure Regenesorb interference screw (Smith & Nephew). has been developed with an optimised calcium phosphate/polymer composition to promote bone formation during resorption.

Purpose: Radial head arthroplasty (RHA) reestablishes elbow stability after complex radial head fracture, but complication rates are high, possibly due to inappropriate implant sizing. Knowledge of impact of radial head implant diameter on elbow kinematics is limited and warranted. This study evaluated elbow kinematics of different radial head implant diameters after RHA using dynamic radiostereometric analysis (dRSA).

Transbronchial lung cryobiopsy (TBLC) is a relatively new technique for obtaining lung biopsies, known for being the least invasive method while offering a high diagnostic yield, a favourable safety profile, and a significant reduction in morbidity, mortality, and hospital stay length compared to surgical lung biopsy. Radial-EBUS (r-EBUS) represent a cornerstone modality for accessing 'invisible' peripheral pulmonary lesions. However, a major drawback of these techniques is the lack of 'real-time' visualization of the biopsy being obtained.

Background And Aims: The diagnosis of acute kidney injury (AKI) is of importance among patients with ST segment elevation (STEMI) undergoing primary coronary intervention (PCI). It is often delayed given the need in serial measurements of creatinine or other serum markers. Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) is a proven marker for AKI, although its role as an early predictor in this setting was scarcely addressed before and was the aim of our study.

Objective: To evaluate risk factors contributing to side-specific benign ureteroenteric strictures following radical cystectomy with an ileal conduit.
Materials And Methods: Data obtained from patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy with ileal conduit surgery between 2015 and 2018 were retrospectively analysed. Imaging prior to surgery was analysed, regarding calcifications in the aorta, sarcopenia and postoperatively for length of remaining left ureter.
Purpose: The majority of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLr) patients wish to return to sport. Clinical evaluations after ACLr often do not include physical testing, making it difficult to determine the patient's readiness to return to sport. Thus, it would be helpful to identify easily assessable factors associated with physical function in ACLr patients that could inform planning of patients' return to sport.
