Skutterudites are of high interest in current research due to their diversity of structures comprising empty, partially filled and filled variants, mostly based on metallic compounds. We herein present Ba [BN ] H , forming a non-metallic filled anti-skutterudite. It is accessed in a solid-state ampoule reaction from barium subnitride, boron nitride and barium hydride at 750 °C.

Ultra-long silver nanowires (AgNWs) with an aspect ratio of >2000 were prepared by the hydrothermal synthesis method. The influence of reaction time (4-32 h), reaction temperature (150-180 °C), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) molecular weight (10 000-1 300 000 g mol), PVP concentration (50-125 mM), glucose concentration (5.6-22.

The four compounds AMOH (A = Rb, Cs; M = Mo, W) are introduced as the first members of the new material class of the transition oxometalate hydrides. The compounds are accessible a thermal synthesis route with carefully controlled conditions. Their crystal structures were solved by neutron diffraction of the deuterated analogues.

Cu and Ag precursors that are volatile, reactive, and thermally stable are currently of high interest for their application in atomic-layer deposition (ALD) of thin metal films. In pursuit of new precursors for coinage metals, namely Cu and Ag, a series of new N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-based Cu and Ag complexes were synthesized. Modifications in the substitution pattern of diketonate-based anionic backbones led to five monomeric Cu complexes and four closely related Ag complexes with the general formula [M( NHC)(R)] (M=Cu, Ag; NHC=1,3-di-tert-butyl-imidazolin-2-ylidene; R=diketonate).

This kind of device imposes novel design principles for antifouling coatings, such as optical transparency and resistance to significant constant bending. To reach this goal we deposited on poly(dimethylsiloxane) a PEO-based layer with negligible thickness compared to the curvature radius of the cochlea.

Metabolic engineering has the potential to steadily enhance product titers by inducing changes in metabolism. Especially, availability of cofactors plays a crucial role in improving efficacy of product conversion. Hence, the effect of certain trace elements was studied individually or in combinations, to enhance butanol flux during its biological production.

Iron-doped tetrahedral amorphous carbon thin films (Fe/ta-C) were deposited with varying iron content using a pulsed filtered cathodic vacuum arc system (p-FCVA). The aim of this study was to understand effects of iron on both the physical and electrochemical properties of the otherwise inert sp-rich ta-C matrix. As indicated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), even ∼0.
