Background: Pain is impacted by bio-psycho-social factors and is closely related to disability and poor quality of life. Therefore, a patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) is needed to capture these aspects effectively. The Short Form Brief Pain Inventory (SF-BPI) serves this purpose as a tool for pain assessment.

Efficacy and Safety of Fluocinolone Acetonide 0.19 mg Intravitreal Implant for the Treatment of Non-Infectious Uveitis: A Systematic Review of Real-World Evidence.

This systematic review evaluates the real-world efficacy and safety of the 0.19 mg fluocinolone acetonide (FAc) sustained-release intravitreal implant for treating non-infectious uveitis affecting the posterior segment of the eye (NIU-PS). Following PRISMA guidelines, a search was conducted in PubMed, Embase and Web of Science, with the latest update on September 20, 2024.

Circulating biomarkers of macrophage activation in different stages of chronic pancreatitis: A pilot study.

Objectives: Activation of type M2 macrophages has been implicated in the pathogenesis of chronic pancreatitis (CP). In a clinical pilot study, we investigated blood-based markers of macrophage activation at different stages of CP.

Methods: We performed a cross-sectional analysis of prospectively collected plasma samples from healthy controls and patients with suspected or definitive CP according to the M-ANNHEIM criteria.

Treatment regimens and glycaemic outcomes in more than 100 000 children with type 1 diabetes (2013-22): a longitudinal analysis of data from paediatric diabetes registries.

Background: Advances in paediatric type 1 diabetes management and increased use of diabetes technology have led to improvements in glycaemia, reduced risk of severe hypoglycaemia, and improved quality of life. Since 1993, progressively lower HbA targets have been set. The aim of this study was to perform a longitudinal analysis of HbA, treatment regimens, and acute complications between 2013 and 2022 using data from eight national and one international paediatric diabetes registries.

Efficacy of esketamine nasal spray over quetiapine extended release over the short and long term: sensitivity analyses of ESCAPE-TRD, a randomised phase IIIb clinical trial.

Background: In patients with treatment resistant depression (TRD), the ESCAPE-TRD study showed esketamine nasal spray was superior to quetiapine extended release.

Aims: To determine the robustness of the ESCAPE-TRD results and confirm the superiority of esketamine nasal spray over quetiapine extended release.

Method: ESCAPE-TRD was a randomised, open-label, rater-blinded, active-controlled phase IIIb trial.

No associations between neuroborreliosis in children and psychiatric neurodevelopmental disorders: a nationwide, population-based, matched cohort study.

Background: It has been suggested that neuroborreliosis in children can manifest as psychiatric neurodevelopmental disorders or cause long-term neurodevelopmental sequelae. However, previous studies were limited by size and design.

Methods: We performed a nationwide, population-based, matched cohort study in Denmark between 1995 and 2021.

How to Improve Attendance for Diabetic Retinopathy Screening: Ideas and Perspectives From People With Type 2 Diabetes and Health-care Professionals.

Objectives: Our aim in this study was to identify how to improve diabetic retinopathy screening from the perspectives of people with type 2 diabetes and health-care professionals and to elicit their thoughts on initiatives to increase attendance.

Methods: A total of 38 semistructured interviews were conducted with people with type 2 diabetes (n=20), general practitioners (n=10), and ophthalmic staff (n=8). The interviews examined ideas for improving screening and elicited feedback on 3 initiatives: getting a fixed appointment; same-day screening; and outsourcing screening to general practice, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Simultaneous ortho-surgical expansion and protraction of the maxilla in patients with mature midpalatal suture: A technical note.

The authors aim to propose combination of Surgically Assisted Miniscrew-Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion (SAMARPE) with orthopedic traction miniplates placement in cases where a sagittal deficiency coexists with the necessity of carrying out a surgical maxillary expansion. Unlike the conventional orthopedic traction technique, where the miniplates are placed bilaterally in the infrazygomatic crest of the maxillary buttress, in this scenario the upper miniplates should be placed below the LeFort I osteotomy, and therefore a little bit angulated.

Family caregiver involvement in forensic mental health care - A qualitative study of healthcare professionals' perceptions.

This qualitative study aims to explore healthcare professionals' (HCPs) perceptions of facilitators and barriers in their collaboration with family caregivers in forensic mental health care (FMHC). A thematic analysis resulted in two interrelated themes: (1): Organizational constraints, with subthemes Resource-driven time and staffing constraints, Duty of confidentiality, and External substance use treatment, and (2) Collaboration with family caregivers, with subthemes Alliance in collaboration, and Overinvolvement. The findings show that HCPs prefer family caregivers to support care and treatment, reflecting a unilateral direction of support.

Outcomes and outcome measurement instruments in lower-limb lengthening surgery: a scoping review to inform core outcome set development.

Background And Purpose:  The heterogeneous outcomes used in lower-limb lengthening surgery (LLLS) complicate evidence synthesis, weakening systematic reviews and clinical recommendations, and reducing research impact. This scoping review maps the outcomes and outcome measurement instruments (OMIs) used in LLLS.

Methods: This pre-registered review systematically identified studies reporting outcomes in adults or children who underwent LLLS.

Pembrolizumab followed by irreversible electroporation of a liver metastasis in pancreatic cancer patients.

Preclinical studies suggest that irreversible electroporation (IRE) increases the effect of immune checkpoint inhibition in pancreatic cancer (PC). Patients with PC received PD-1 inhibitor pembrolizumab and, on day 10, percutaneous IRE of a liver metastasis. Blood samples were analyzed for immune cell subsets and inflammation related proteins.

A successful clinical trial ecosystem offers equal opportunities for all citizens.

An inclusive clinical trial ecosystem is essential to obtain scientific results that can be generalized to a broad patient population. When possible, all efforts should be made to remove geographic, demographic, cultural and ethnic barriers for enrolment in clinical trials. However, to do this effectively, we need more knowledge about factors influencing clinical trial participation and practical frameworks to enhance diversity in clinical trials.

A novel multiple marker microarray analyzer and methodology to predict major obstetric syndromes using surface markers of circulating extracellular vesicles from maternal plasma.

Introduction: Placental-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nano-organelles that facilitate intercellular communication between the feto-placental unit and the mother. We evaluated a novel Multiple Microarray analyzer for identifying surface markers on plasma EVs that predict preterm delivery and preeclampsia compared to term delivery controls.

Material And Methods: In this prospective exploratory cohort study pregnant women between 24 and 40 gestational weeks with preterm delivery (n = 16), preeclampsia (n = 19), and matched term delivery controls (n = 15) were recruited from Bnai Zion Medical Center, Haifa, Israel.

Electronic Nudge Letters to Increase Influenza Vaccination Uptake in Younger and Middle-Aged Individuals With Diabetes.

Background: Despite evidence demonstrating that influenza vaccination is associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality in individuals with diabetes mellitus (DM), vaccine uptake remains suboptimal.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of electronically delivered nudges on influenza vaccine uptake according to the presence of DM status versus other chronic diseases.

Methods: NUDGE-FLU-CHRONIC was a nationwide, randomized, pragmatic implementation trial among younger and middle-aged (18-64 years) Danish citizens with chronic disease during the 2023/2024 influenza season.

The Prognostic Potential of circRNAs in Multiple Myeloma: Insights From Whole Bone Marrow and Purified Plasma Cells.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a haematological malignancy with abnormal proliferation of plasma cells in the bone marrow (BM), and MM patients with highly proliferative plasma cells have reduced overall survival. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are endogenous, non-coding molecules that are promising biomarkers in cancer. Here, we present the largest study of circRNAs in MM to date and explore the prognostic potential of circRNAs and the link between proliferation and circRNA expression in MM.

Ovarian Clear Cell Adenocarcinoma With Low 68 Ga-FAPI-46 and Low 18 F-FDG Uptake on PET/CT : A Case Report.

A 67-year-old woman presented with a 12 × 20 × 24-cm adnexal tumor. Ultrasonography revealed an irregular, multilocular tumor, with increased flow in the solid components, and ascites-features that are consistent with ovarian cancer. The patient underwent 18 F-FDG PET/CT and 68 Ga-FAPI-46 PET/CT, both of which showed low uptake values.

Use of non-barrier contraceptives among women with human immunodeficiency virus; a nationwide, matched cohort study.

Objective: To investigate the use of non-barrier contraceptives among women with HIV (WWH) compared to women from the general population (WGP) in Denmark.

Design: Nationwide population-based matched cohort study.

Methods: We included WWH aged 16-50, treated at an HIV specialized clinic, and included in The Danish HIV Cohort Study between 1995-2021 and an age-matched comparison cohort of WGP.
