Background/objectives: Evidence-based information is crucial for policymakers and providers of mental health and psychosocial services (MHPSS) for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC). However, there is a scarcity of national-level studies investigating the MHPSS needs of UASC and how these are addressed in Greece. The research objectives of this study were to explore: (a) the psychosocial and mental health needs of UASC living in Greek long-term accommodation facilities as perceived by MHPSS providers, and (b) the range of services across the country, highlighting gaps and best practices in service delivery.

Background: CACNA1A-related disorders are rare and progressive; to date, there is no approved treatment. Trials with N-acetyl-leucine (NAL) demonstrated efficacy in disorders featuring ataxia, cognitive impairment, and epilepsy. Accordingly, we hypothesized that NAL may be effective in CACNA1A-associated disorders.

Analysis of Circulating Tumor Cells Lab, Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, University of Athens, Greece.
Plasma cell-free DNA (cfDNA) analysis to track estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) mutations is highly beneficial for the identification of tumor molecular dynamics and the improvement of personalized treatments for patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Plasma-cfDNA is, up to now, the most frequent liquid biopsy analyte used to evaluate ESR1 mutational status. Circulating tumor cell (CTC) enumeration and molecular characterization analysis provides important clinical information in patients with MBC.

Remission of asthma can occur as part of the natural history of the disease; however, the use of biologics can result in disease remission in some patients. In this post hoc analysis of the RELIght study, we aimed to evaluate clinical remission in real life among patients treated with mepolizumab, to detect possible differences between "remitters" and "nonremitters," and to evaluate possible predictors of remission. Clinical remission was defined as the absence of asthma exacerbations, discontinuation of oral corticosteroids (OCS), achievement of asthma control (Asthma Control Test [ACT] ≥ 20), and stable or improved lung function.

Background: Bipartite medial cuneiform bone (BMC) is located at the Lisfranc joint of the midfoot, and it represents a rare variant involving two separate ossification centers in the medial cuneiform bone. Although BMC is typically asymptomatic, it can become clinically relevant under conditions of trauma or chronic stress, affecting foot stability.
Case Report: The current imaging report describes a 48-year-old female presenting with chronic dorsal midfoot pain, worsened by extended standing and ambulation.

1: ESGE recommends the combination of endoscopic ultrasound-guided tissue acquisition (EUS-TA) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)-based tissue acquisition as the preferred diagnostic approach for tissue acquisition in patients with jaundice and distal extrahepatic biliary stricture in the absence of a pancreatic mass. 2: ESGE suggests that brushing cytology should be completed along with fluoroscopy-guided biopsies, wherever technically feasible, in patients with perihilar biliary strictures. 3: ESGE suggests EUS-TA for perihilar strictures when ERCP-based modalities yield insufficient results, provided that curative resection is not feasible and/or when cross-sectional imaging has shown accessible extraluminal disease.

BackgroundLate HIV diagnosis (CD4+ T-cell count < 350 cells/μL, or with an AIDS-defining event) remains a persistent challenge in Greece, indicating potential missed opportunities (MOs) for earlier testing.AimTo determine the frequency of HIV indicator conditions (ICs) preceding diagnosis and to quantify MOs for earlier testing at a nationwide level in Greece.MethodsThis multicentre retrospective study analysed data on 823 antiretroviral therapy-naive adults (≥ 18 years) diagnosed with HIV during 2019-21.

Background: Mycosis fungoides (MF) is the most common form of cutaneous T cell lymphoma. While multiple guidelines provide treatment recommendations, there are currently no clear treatment algorithms for MF. Chlormethine gel is recommended by major treatment guidelines as a first-line option for stage IA-IIA disease, and, on the basis of these guidelines, used in combination with other therapies in patients with advanced-stage MF in clinical practice.

Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH) constitutes a rare bone marrow failure syndrome characterized by hemolytic anemia, thrombotic events (TEs), and bone marrow aplasia of variable degrees. Thrombosis is one of the major clinical manifestations of the disease, affecting up to 40% of individuals with PNH. Venous thrombosis is more prevalent, affecting mainly unusual sites, such as intrabdominal and hepatic veins.

Background Digital subtraction angiography and thrill palpation demonstrate limitations when used to assess the outcomes of angioplasty in autologous arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs). Purpose To investigate a new functional quantifiable index of successful angioplasty for failing AVFs using intraprocedural percutaneous US volume flow (VF) measurements. Materials and Methods This prospective, multicenter, single-arm, cohort clinical trial included consecutive patients with indications for fluoroscopically guided balloon angioplasty due to AVF dysfunction between June 2020 and May 2022.

Background: Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a multifactorial disorder as its development may be based on several different pathophysiological mechanisms. Interaction of gut microbiome with the host has been proposed as a potential mechanism involved in the disease's pathogenesis.
Aim/methods: We aimed to characterize microbiome profiling on duodenal luminal content (DLC) of FD patients and compare it to that of controls (CG) and patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Background & Aims: The effect of lipid-lowering treatment (LLT) on metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is unclear. This is relevant for patients with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) who are on lifelong LLT. We aimed to evaluate the effect of LLT on MASLD indices in this population.

MiRNAs have been identified as participants in leukemogenesis by controlling several cellular functions, such as differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis. Their role in myelodysplastic neoplasms (MDS) pathogenesis is researched due to implementations in early identification, classification, and therapeutical options. IPSS-R, being the most widely used MDS classification, underestimates early biological events that can alter the disease's prognosis.

Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a severe, irreversible lung disease characterized by progressive scarring, with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) being the most prevalent form. IPF's pathogenesis involves repetitive lung epithelial injury leading to fibroblast activation and excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition. The prognosis for IPF is poor, with limited therapeutic options like nintedanib and pirfenidone offering only modest benefits.
