Role, education, policies and competencies for advanced practice in paediatric haematology-oncology nursing in Europe: A scoping review.

The aim of this scoping review is to describe the role, education, policies/regulation, skills and competencies required for advanced practice in paediatric haematology-oncology nursing in Europe, highlighting the differences in development between the different European countries. A scoping review was conducted following the methodological framework of guidelines by Arksey and O'Malley and the recommendations for advancing the methodology by Levac et al. We searched MEDLINE/PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Scopus, grey literature, webpages, reference lists and performed a manual search, without any restrictions on language or time.

Background: Cerebrovascular events remain one of the most devastating complications of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). Data from real-world contemporary cohorts on longitudinal trends and outcomes remain limited. Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation in patients with CALR-mutated myelofibrosis: a study of the Chronic Malignancies Working Party of EBMT.

Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) is curative for myelofibrosis (MF) but assessing risk-benefit in individual patients is challenging. This complexity is amplified in CALR-mutated MF patients, as they live longer with conventional treatments compared to other molecular subtypes. We analyzed outcomes of 346 CALR-mutated MF patients who underwent allo-HCT in 123 EBMT centers between 2005 and 2019.

Background: Aim of this study is to investigate the prevalence of cervical nodal metastasis at presentation and as disease relapse in primary, treatment-naive olfactory neuroblastoma (ONB), and to review treatment modalities, risk factors for regional failure and survival outcomes according to nodal status.

Methods: A systematic review and proportion meta-analysis were conducted following PRISMA guidelines based on PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus.

Organizational Challenges in the Pediatric Onco-hematology Units During the First and Second Wave of the COVID-19 Pandemic: A National Survey in Italy.

This study aimed to describe and compare, at a national level, the measures implemented in the pediatric onco-hematology units and the number of infections among patients and healthcare staff during the first and second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy. A multicenter, descriptive, online survey was conducted between15th March and 15th April 2020 (T1) and between 1 and 31st January 2021 (T2). All the Italian Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Association (AIEOP) centers were invited to participate in the study.

From basic research to the clinic: innovative therapies for ALS and FTD in the pipeline.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) are neurodegenerative disorders, related by deterioration of motor and cognitive functions and short survival. Aside from cases with an inherited pathogenic mutation, the causes of the disorders are still largely unknown and no effective treatment currently exists. It has been shown that FTD may coexist with ALS and this overlap occurs at clinical, genetic, and molecular levels.
