Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) is curative for myelofibrosis (MF) but assessing risk-benefit in individual patients is challenging. This complexity is amplified in CALR-mutated MF patients, as they live longer with conventional treatments compared to other molecular subtypes. We analyzed outcomes of 346 CALR-mutated MF patients who underwent allo-HCT in 123 EBMT centers between 2005 and 2019.

What does not look like celiac disease and instead it is.

Gastroenterol Hepatol Bed Bench

Department of Medicine and Surgery, Section of Anatomic Pathology and Histology, Medical School, University of Perugia, Perugia, Italy.

The celiac disease (CD) diagnosis sometimes is challenging and diagnostic process cannot always follow a simple algorithm but it requires a close collaboration between histo-pathologists, clinicians, laboratory and genetic experts. The genetic predisposition for CD is related to HLA-DQ2 and/or DQ8 but other HLA haplotypes and non-HLA genes may be involved in genetic predisposition. In particular DQ7 may represent an additive and independent CD risk associated haplotype.

Mucosal healing (MH) is the main treatment target in ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease, and it is defined by the combination of complete endoscopic and histologic remission. The complete resolution of mucosal inflammation should be confirmed by histology but its assessment is not always univocal. Neutrophil infiltration represents the unique histological marker in discriminating the active vs.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) are neurodegenerative disorders, related by deterioration of motor and cognitive functions and short survival. Aside from cases with an inherited pathogenic mutation, the causes of the disorders are still largely unknown and no effective treatment currently exists. It has been shown that FTD may coexist with ALS and this overlap occurs at clinical, genetic, and molecular levels.
