Objectives: The association between immune-mediated thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (iTTP) and Sjögren disease (SjD) has been poorly investigated. This study presents the first retrospective cohort of iTTP-SjD aiming to identify risk factors for iTTP occurrence in SjD patients and examine their clinical course.
Methods: Patients with iTTP-SjD were identified within the French TTP Registry based on American College of Rheumatology/European League Against Rheumatism 2016 criteria.

Primary liver tumours, including benign liver tumours, hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma, present a multifaceted challenge, necessitating a collaborative approach, as evidenced by the role of the multidisciplinary tumour board (MDTB). The approach to managing primary liver tumours involves specialised teams, including surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, pathologists, hepatologists, and radiation oncologists, coming together to propose individualised treatment plans. The evolving landscape of primary liver cancer treatment introduces complexities, particularly with the expanding array of systemic and locoregional therapies, alongside the potential integration of molecular biology and artificial intelligence (AI) into MDTBs in the future.

Purpose: To evaluate the performance of a rapid multiplex microarray-based method (Unyvero BCU system, BCU) to identify microorganisms and detect antimicrobial resistance directly from positive blood culture (BC) bottles with polymicrobial growth, and to assess relevance of information provided for timely guidance of polymicrobial bloodstream infection treatment.
Methods: Accuracy, time-to-actionable results and potential impact of BCU on antimicrobial treatment were compared with those of standard of care during a prospective study for the sample analysis (November 2017-November 2018) and a retrospective study for the clinical data analysis and the time-to-result analysis. The study was complemented with an experimental study, based on spiked blood cultures to assess the ability of the method to detect antimicrobial resistance genes.

Introduction: We aim to assess the long-term outcomes of percutaneous multi-bipolar radiofrequency (mbpRFA) as the first treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in transplant-eligible cirrhotic patients, followed by salvage transplantation for intrahepatic distant tumour recurrence or liver failure.
Materials And Methods: We included transplant-eligible patients with cirrhosis and a first diagnosis of HCC within Milan criteria treated by upfront mbp RFA. Transplantability was defined by age <70 years, social support, absence of significant comorbidities, no active alcohol use and no recent extrahepatic cancer.

The transmission risk of SARS-CoV-2 within hospitals can exceed that in the general community because of more frequent close proximity interactions (CPIs). However, epidemic risk across wards is still poorly described. We measured CPIs directly using wearable sensors given to all present in a clinical ward over a 36-h period, across 15 wards in three hospitals in April-June 2020.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the incidence and clinical implications of bile duct changes following multibipolar radiofrequency ablation (mbpRFA) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Materials And Methods: Radiological, clinical, and biological data from consecutive cirrhotic patients who underwent first-line mbpRFA between 2007 and 2014 for uninodular HCC ≤ 5 cm were retrospectively collected. Follow-up imaging was reviewed to identify bile duct changes and factors associated with biliary changes were assessed using multivariable analysis.

Introduction: To investigate the association between social deprivation and COVID-19 among hospitalized patients in an underprivileged department of the greater Paris area.
Methods: Individuals hospitalized for COVID-19 between March 1st and October 31, 2020, were included, matched on age and sex, and compared with patients hospitalized for any other reason with negative RT-PCR for SARS-CoV-2, through a case-control study. Clinical, socio-demographic characteristics, health literacy, and social deprivation, assessed by the EPICES score, were collected.

The early administration of appropriate antibiotic therapy is crucial for the survival of patients with bacteremia. Current research focuses on improving analytical times through technology, whereas there have been very few efforts to improve postanalytical times even though they represent 40% of the time between blood taking and appropriate treatment administration. One of the clues is the efficiency and appropriateness of the result communication system.

Background: Clinical benefits of atezolizumab plus bevacizumab (atezolizumab-bevacizumab) are observed only in a subset of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and the development of biomarkers is needed to improve therapeutic strategies. The atezolizumab-bevacizumab response signature (ABRS), assessed by molecular biology profiling techniques, has been shown to be associated with progression-free survival after treatment initiation. The primary objective of our study was to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) model able to estimate ABRS expression directly from histological slides, and to evaluate if model predictions were associated with progression-free survival.

Background And Aims: HCC surveillance is challenged by the detection of hepatic focal lesions (HFLs) of other types. This study aimed to describe the incidence, characteristics, outcomes, and costs of non-HCC HFL detected during surveillance.
Approach And Results: We retrospectively analyzed nonstandardized workup performed in French patients included in HCC surveillance programs recruited in 57 French tertiary centers (ANRS CirVir and CIRRAL cohorts, HCC 2000 trial).

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a heterogeneous disease, the prognosis of which varies according to the cytogenetic group. We characterized a rare chromosomal abnormality (del(8p), deletion of the short arm of chromosome 8) in the context of CLL. By comparing the largest cohort of del(8p) CLL to date (n = 57) with a non-del(8p) cohort (n = 155), del(8p) was significantly associated with a poor prognosis, a shorter time to first treatment, worse overall survival (OS), and a higher risk of Richter transformation.

Tracheobronchomalacia is usually characterized by more than 50% expiratory narrowing in diameter of the trachea and the bronchi. The expiratory collapse includes two entities: (1) the TBM related to the weakness of the cartilaginous rings, and (2) the Excessive Dynamic Airway Collapse (EDAC) due to the excessive bulging of the posterior membrane. Patients have nonspecific respiratory symptoms like dyspnea and cough.

Background & Aims: The "French Medicine Genomic program 2025" has been designed to give patients with cancers that are refractory to systemic treatments access to off-label therapies adapted to their specific genomic profile. Herein, we reported the results of this program in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and hepato-cholangiocarcinoma (H-CCK).
Methods: In one center, all patients with HCC or H-CCK who progressed under atezolizumab/bevacizumab with available tumor frozen samples benefited from whole-genome/-exome and RNA sequencing.

Introduction And Objectives: The lockdown policy introduced in 2020 to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, significantly affected the management and care of patients affected by hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The aim of this follow-up study was to determine the 12 months impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the cohort of patients affected by HCC during the lockdown, within six French academic referral centers in the metropolitan area of Paris.
Materials And Methods: We performed a 12 months follow-up of the cross-sectional study cohort included in 2020 on the management of patients affected by HCC during the first six weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic (exposed), compared to the same period in 2019 (unexposed).

Background & Aims: In patients with compensated alcohol-related cirrhosis, reliable prognostic biomarkers are lacking. Keratin-18 and hepatocyte-derived large extracellular vesicle (lEV) concentrations reflect disease activity, but their ability to predict liver-related events is unknown.
Methods: We measured plasma keratin-18 and hepatocyte lEV concentrations in 500 patients with Child-Pugh class A alcohol-related cirrhosis.
