Objective: Disentangle the temporal relationships between frequency of cannabis use and alcohol consumption.
Methods: A cross-lagged model providing standardised coefficients (SCs)±their standard errors in 13 255 men and 13 696 women enrolled in 2015 or 2016 in the French population-based 'CONSulTANts des Centres d'Examens de Santé' (CONSTANCES) cohort. Cannabis use was categorised as follows: 'No use during the past 12 months', 'Use during the past 12 months but not in the past month' and 'Use in the past month' for cannabis use at baseline, and No use during the past 12 months, 'Use less than once per month' and 'Use once per month or more' for cannabis use at 1 year of follow-up.

Measuring the quality of movement is a need and a challenge for clinicians. Jerk, defined as the quantity of acceleration variation, is a kinematic parameter used to assess the smoothness of movement. We aimed to assess and compare jerk metrics in asymptomatic participants for 3 important movement characteristics that are considered by clinicians during shoulder examination: dominant and non-dominant side, concentric and eccentric contraction mode, and arm elevation plane.

Objectives: To provide clinical practice guidelines about fertility preservation (FP) for women with benign gynecologic disease (BGD) developed by a modified Delphi consensus process for oocyte vitrification in women with benign gynecologic disease.
Methods: A steering committee composed of 14 healthcare professionals and a patient representative with lived experience of endometriosis identified 42 potential practices related to FP for BGD. Then 114 key stakeholders including various healthcare professionals (n=108) and patient representatives (n=6) were asked to participate in a modified Delphi process via two online survey rounds from February to September 2020 and a final meeting.

We report 21 cases of trichogerminoma harbouring previously undescribed FOXK1::GRHL1/2 or GPS2::GRHL1/2/3 in-frame fusion transcripts. Microscopic examination of a preliminary set of five cases revealed well-delimitated tumours located in the dermis with frequent extension to the subcutaneous tissue. Tumours presented a massive and nodular architecture and consisted of a proliferation of basaloid cells.

We examined the prospective association of physical exertion at work with subsequent tobacco, cannabis, alcohol use, and sugar and fat consumption. Volunteers of the French population-based CONSTANCES cohort currently employed were included from 2012 to 2017 for tobacco and cannabis outcomes (n = 100,612), and from 2012 to 2016 for alcohol and sugar and fat outcomes (n = 75,414). High level of physical exertion at work was defined as a score ≥ 12 at the Rating Perceived Exertion Borg scale.

Background: Major therapeutic advances including immunotherapy and targeted therapies have been changing the face of oncology and resulted in improved prognosis as well as in new toxic complications. The aim of this study is to appraise the trends in intensive care unit (ICU) admissions and outcomes of critically ill patients with solid malignancies. We performed a retrospective single-centre study over a 12-year period (2007-2018) including adult patients with solid malignancies requiring unplanned ICU admission.

(1) Background: Based on its antiviral activity, anti-inflammatory properties, and functional inhibition effects on the acid sphingomyelinase/ceramide system (FIASMA), we sought to examine the potential usefulness of the H1 antihistamine hydroxyzine in patients hospitalized for COVID-19. (2) Methods: In a multicenter observational study, we included 15,103 adults hospitalized for COVID-19, of which 164 (1.1%) received hydroxyzine within the first 48 h of hospitalization, administered orally at a median daily dose of 25.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a main cause of death due to interplaying factors, including comorbidities that interfere with symptoms and response to therapy. It is now admitted that COPD management should be based on clinical symptoms and health status and should consider the heterogeneity of patients' phenotypes and treatable traits. This precision medicine approach involves a regular assessment of the patient's status and of the expected benefits and risks of therapy.

Myocarditis and pericarditis may constitute adverse reactions of mRNA coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines. This study aimed to document these reactions and to assess the association with patient sex and age. This is as an observational retrospective study using a case-non-case design (also called disproportionality study) on inflammatory heart reactions reported with mRNA COVID-19 vaccines within the World Health Organization (WHO) global safety database (VigiBase), up to June 30, 2021.

Background: Mass indoor gatherings were banned in early 2020 to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2. We aimed to assess, under controlled conditions, whether infection rates among attendees at a large, indoor gathering event would be similar to those in non-attendees, given implementation of a comprehensive prevention strategy including antigen-screening within 3 days, medical mask wearing, and optimised ventilation.
Methods: The non-inferiority, prospective, open-label, randomised, controlled SPRING trial was done on attendees at a live indoor concert held in the Accor Arena on May 29, 2021 in Paris, France.

Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is associated with a high risk of cardiovascular (CV) complications, even after controlling for traditional CV risk factors. Therefore, determinants of the residual increased CV morbidity and mortality remain to be discovered. This prospective cohort of people living with T1DM in France (SFDT1) will include adults and children aged over six years living with T1DM, recruited throughout metropolitan France and overseas French departments and territories.

Background: The incidence of pulmonary embolism has been increasing, but its case-fatality rate is decreasing, suggesting a lesser severity of illness. The clinical importance of patients with pulmonary embolism isolated to the subsegmental vessels is unknown.
Objective: To determine the rate of recurrent venous thromboembolism in patients with subsegmental pulmonary embolism managed without anticoagulation.
Objectives: Lumacaftor-ivacaftor is a cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) modulator known to improve clinical status in people with cystic fibrosis (CF). The aim of this study was to assess lung structural changes after 1 year of lumacaftor-ivacaftor treatment and to use unsupervised machine learning to identify morphological phenotypes of lung disease that are associated with response to lumacaftor-ivacaftor.
Methods: Adolescents and adults with CF from a French multicentre real-world prospective observational study evaluating the first year of treatment with lumacaftor-ivacaftor were included if they had pre-therapeutic and follow-up chest computed tomography (CT) scans available.

Central (aortic) systolic blood pressure (cSBP) is the pressure seen by the heart, the brain, and the kidneys. If properly measured, cSBP is closer associated with hypertension-mediated organ damage and prognosis, as compared with brachial SBP (bSBP). We investigated 24-hour profiles of bSBP and cSBP, measured simultaneously using Mobilograph devices, in 2423 untreated adults (1275 women; age, 18-94 years), free from overt cardiovascular disease, aiming to develop reference values and to analyze daytime-nighttime variability.

Cystic fibrosis is a severe autosomal recessive disorder caused by mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator () gene encoding the CFTR protein, a chloride channel expressed in many epithelial cells. New drugs called CFTR modulators aim at restoring the CFTR protein function, and they will benefit many patients with cystic fibrosis in the near future. However, some patients bear rare mutations that are not yet eligible for CFTR modulators, although they might be amenable to these new disease-modifying drugs.

Inorganic antigens may contribute to paediatric sarcoidosis. Thirty-six patients matched with 36 healthy controls as well as a group of 21 sickle-cell disease (SCD) controls answered an environmental questionnaire. Patients' indirect exposure to inorganic particles, through coresidents' occupations, was higher than in healthy and SCD controls (median score: 2.
