WHERE DO WE STAND? Sleep specialists have proposed measures to counter the short- and long-term negative consequences of sleep deprivation, suggesting that the recovery nap could be a "powerful physiological public health tool". This article focus on napping as a "countermeasure" to the current epidemic of sleep debt. We review the restorative functions of naps explored in laboratory studies (alertness, memory, stress, immune function, pain sensitivity) with definite public health ramifications (sleep-related accidents, school and work performance, cardiovascular risk).

Smoking is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVD), in particular in women, but smoking cessation (SC) reduces or even cancels the risk for both sexes. Using a nationwide SC services database, we aimed to determine the predictive factors of SC in men and women smokers with CV risk factors (CVRF) or CVD. A retrospective study from the French CDTnet database was conducted.

The microbial contamination of eye drop tips and caps varies between 7.7% and 100%. In seeking patient protection and continuous improvement, the Pharmacy Department in the Sterile Ophthalmological and Oncological Preparations Unit at Cochin Hospital AP-HP, Paris, France, conducted a two-phase study to compare the antimicrobial efficiency and practical use of standard packaging and a marketed eye drop container incorporating a self-decontaminating antimicrobial green technology by Pylote SAS at the tip and cap sites.

Aims: Because tobacco smoking is a major risk factor of mortality in diabetes and guidelines suggest evaluating smoking behavior among individuals with diabetes and helping smokers quit, we aimed to assess knowledge about the tobacco smoking - diabetes relationship among diabetologists and smoking cessation specialists (SCS).
Methods: An online cross sectional survey was conceived by the Working Group on Smoking and Diabetes, France. The questionnaire was tested by the members of the Working Group and deemed to be completed in less than 5 min.

Unlabelled: Management of respiratory distress (RD) in the extremely preterm newborn meets recommendations. Few data are available concerning the management and the clinical course of moderate and late preterms with RD. Clinical course and management among moderate (30-33 weeks (wks) of gestation) and late preterms (34-36 wks) were assessed in the Neobs study, a French neonatal observational cohort study (2018) of preterms with RD in the first 24 h of life.

Although anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 antibody kinetics have been described in large populations of vaccinated individuals, we still poorly understand how they evolve during a natural infection and how this impacts viral clearance. For that purpose, we analyzed the kinetics of both viral load and neutralizing antibody levels in a prospective cohort of individuals during acute infection with alpha variant. Using a mathematical model, we show that the progressive increase in neutralizing antibodies leads to a shortening of the half-life of both infected cells and infectious viral particles.

Drug facilitated-crime or chemical submission (DFC/CS) is defined as the concealed or forced administration of psychoactive substances to a victim for criminal purposes. This is a national program set up in the early 2000 s in the form of a prospective multicenter survey, the results of which this manuscript presents. Over this 19-year period, 5487 cases were collected, analyzed and classified into 54 % of suspected cases, 29 % of chemical vulnerability (CV) cases and 17 % of proven DFC/CS cases.

Recommendations for clinical practice Nice/Saint-Paul-de-Vence 2022-2023 : Management of advanced/relapsing endometrial cancer Since the first recommendations in 2020 concerning metastatic and/or relapsed endometrial cancer, new treatment options have shown a benefit on patients' life expectancy, justifying their update. In first line, the choice will be made between chemotherapy with carboplatin/paclitaxel or hormone therapy with progestin, depending on tumor characteristics (histological type, grade, expression of hormone receptors, rate of progression). In case of a dMMR tumors, the use of immunotherapy within the framework of a therapeutic trial is an option.

Introduction: Adherence to controller medication is a major problem in asthma management, being difficult to assess and tackle. mHealth apps can be used to assess adherence. We aimed to assess the adherence to inhaled corticosteroids+long-acting β2-agonists (ICS+LABA) in users of the MASK-air® app, comparing the adherence to ICS+formoterol (ICS+F) with that to ICS+other LABA.

Recurrent oncogenic drivers have been identified in a variety of sweat gland tumors. Recently, integration of human papillomavirus type 42 (HPV42) has been reported in digital papillary adenocarcinoma (DPA). The main objectives of the present study were (i) to provide an overview of the prevalence of previously identified oncogenic drivers in acral sweat gland tumors and (ii) to genetically characterize tumors in which no recurrent genetic alteration has been identified yet.

Background: The gene is part of the DNA mismatch repair system, but has never been shown to be involved in Lynch syndrome. A first report of four patients from two families, bearing biallelic germline variants, with a phenotype of attenuated colorectal adenomatous polyposis raised the question of its involvement in hereditary cancer predisposition. The patients' tumours exhibited elevated microsatellite alterations at selected tetranucleotide repeats (EMAST), a hallmark of deficiency.
