The aim of this study was to analyze the long-term results of different locoregional treatments for colorectal cancer liver metastases (CRLM), including transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), laser-induced thermotherapy (LITT) and microwave ablation (MWA). A total of 2140 patients with CRLM treated at our department between 1993 and 2020 were included in this retrospective study. The patients were divided into the following groups: LITT (573 patients; median age: 62 years), TACE + LITT (346 patients; median age: 62 years), MWA (67 patients; median age: 59 years), TACE + MWA (152 patients; median age: 65 years), and TACE (1002 patients; median age: 62 years).

The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the effects of conventional transarterial chemoembolization (cTACE) for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma over 20 years regarding overall survival (OS) and prognostic factors for OS. During the period from 1996 to 2016, 836 patients with HCC were treated with cTACE. Data evaluation was performed on the basis of pre- and postinterventional MRI and CT scans.

Article Synopsis
  • The study assesses advancements in local treatments for breast cancer liver metastasis (BCLM) using techniques like laser interstitial thermotherapy (LITT), microwave ablation (MWA), and transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) from 1993 to 2020.
  • Cox regression analysis indicates that various treatment methods significantly affect patient survival, with median survival times being longest for MWA and combined MWA+TACE treatments.
  • Survival probabilities for LITT and MWA treatments show differing outcomes: LITT had a notable decline over time, whereas MWA had high initial survival rates, though its sample size was small and impacts future interpretations.

Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Frankfurt University Hospital, Germany; Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Cairo University, Egypt. Electronic address:

Aim: To study the incidence, extent and fate of uterine ischaemia as one of the forms of non-target embolisation following uterine artery embolisation (UAE), as detected on immediate post-embolisation and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations at the 3-month follow-up.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective study was undertaken comprising 43 women (mean age: 44.8 ± 3.

Objective: Ultrasound elastography is increasingly used in the diagnosis of prostate cancer, however results are heterogeneous. We correlate in a large sample-size prospective study the accuracy of elastography, aiming to settle an accurate cut-off point for diagnosis and possibility of use as a screening tool.

Methods: Prospective study that included 120 patients with mean age 59.

Objectives: Early diagnosis of congenital hearing loss is fundamental to minimize the negative consequences on the speech development. To lower the age at diagnosis and at intervention in hearing impaired children, not only universal newborn hearing screening (NHS) but also tracking is considered essential. The aim of the study was to evaluate the first six years after implementation of the population based newborn hearing screening program in Saxony-Anhalt, one German Federal State.

Orthognathic surgery has always been a classical focus of maxillofacial surgery. Since more than 100 years, various surgical techniques for mandibular repositioning have been developed and clinically tested. Since the establishment of plate and screw osteosynthesis, orthognathic surgery became more stable and safe.
