The title compound is a germanium-based hybrid metal halide that represents a less-toxic alternative to more popular lead-based analogues in optoelectronic applications. {(2-ICHNH)[GeI]} is composed of infinite inorganic layers that are formed by [GeI] octa-hedra connected in a corner-sharing manner with four equatorial I atoms. The organic (2-ICHNH) cations inter-leave the inorganic layers.

Background: Lipid vesicles, especially those utilizing biocompatible materials like chitosan (CHIT), hold significant promise for enhancing the stability and release characteristics of drugs such as indomethacin (IND), effectively overcoming the drawbacks associated with conventional drug formulations.
Objectives: This study seeks to develop and characterize novel lipid vesicles composed of phosphatidylcholine and CHIT that encapsulate indomethacin (IND-ves), as well as to evaluate their in vitro hemocompatibility.
Methods: The systems encapsulating IND were prepared using a molecular droplet self-assembly technique, involving the dissolution of lipids, cholesterol, and indomethacin in ethanol, followed by sonication and the gradual incorporation of a CHIT solution to form stable vesicular structures.

Acute compartment syndrome is a major surgical emergency with complex pathophysiology and a highly unpredictable pattern of evolution. We hypothesized that the onset of acute compartment syndrome of the leg or forearm is associated with variations in the surface temperature of the distal segment (foot or hand) with a distinct pattern, which acts as an early warning sign. We developed a monitoring device that consists of two thermic sensors attached to a modular limb splint, which continuously measure the temperature difference between the proximal and distal regions of the limb (i.

The study analyzes with priority the bioclimatic conditions for tourist activities in two famous tourist areas in western Romania [(Băile Felix-Băile 1 Mai (BF_1 M) - Stâna de Vale - Vlădeasa and, respectively Băile Herculane (BH) - Semenic], from the perspective of the potential of health tourism and in the subsidiary of sports and camping tourism. Such researches are missing for western Romania. The main working tools in the evaluation of the tourist valences of the bioclimate include: the spatio-temporal analysis of the Physiologically Equivalent Temperature (PET) bioclimatic index, of the TCI climate-tourism index and of the climate-tourism schemes (CTIS).

Our study was designed to acquire, characterize and evaluate the biocompatibility of novel lipid vesicles loaded with acetaminophen (APAP) and coated with chitosan (CS). We investigated the in vitro and in vivo drug release kinetics from these systems, and we conducted assessments for both in vitro hemocompatibility and in vivo biocompatibility. For the in vivo biocompatibility evaluation, the mice were randomly divided into four groups of six animals and were treated orally as follows: control group: 0.

Community pharmacy has evolved a lot in recent years in terms of pharmaceutical services and marketing policies applied in Romania. This study aimed to evaluate the degree of patient satisfaction in community pharmacies in Iași, Romania correlated with the frequency of returning to the pharmacy, level of education, gender, and stress level at the time when the pharmacist dispenses the medication. A total of 30 community pharmacies were involved, and in a period of three months, they issued questionnaires to patients.

Structural studies involving single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction analysis have been performed on dehydrated coordination networks of the [NiCo(bpy)][LiCr(ox)] series, 0 ≤ ≤ 1, (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine). The high-symmetry cubic 3D structure of these materials is formed by oxalate anions bridging alternating Cr and Li ions into an anionic framework, which contains large cavities that incorporate the [NiCo(bpy)] cations. Irrespective of the Co/Ni ratio, all of the mixed samples are phase-pure and retain the high-symmetry cubic structure, with the lattice parameters gradually decreasing upon increasing Ni(II) concentration.

This study analyzes for the first time uniformly and causally the level of pollution and air quality for the NE-Romania Region, one of the poorest region in the European Union. Knowing the level of pollution and air quality in this region, which can be taken as a benchmark due to its positional and economic-geographical attributes, responds to current scientific and practical needs. The study uses an hourly database (for five pollutants and five climate elements), from 2009 to 2020, from 19 air quality monitoring stations in northeastern Romania.

Nevertheless, the evolution of the donating activity and of organ transplantation in Romania has been confronted with a certain inconsistency and a lack of resources necessary to the development of the system.
Method: The aim of this study is to analyze the dynamics of the transplantation activity in Romania between 2000 and 2020.

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) or hydrotalcite-like compounds have attracted great attention for the delivery of anticancer drugs due to their 2D structure, exhibiting a high surface-to-volume ratio and a high chemical versatility. The drug is protected between the layers from which it is slowly released, thus increasing the therapeutic effect and minimizing the side effects associated to nonspecific targeting. This work aimed to design LDHs with Mg and Al (molar ratio of 2/1) in brucite-like layers, which retained fluorouracil (5-FU; 5-FU/Al = 1, molar ratio) in the interlayer gallery as the layers grow during the co-precipitation step of the synthesis.

(1) Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS), a chronic progressive neurological disorder which affects the central nervous system (CNS), can result in disorders of all the functions controlled by the CNS: motor, sensory, cognitive and emotional. Physical therapy (PT), conducted through proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) techniques, can be customized to the individual patient's needs and has the potential to improve the patient's evolution. This study aims to establish if PT based on PNF techniques has a beneficial role in MS treatment.

BaTiO (BTO) nanoparticles produced by wet chemistry methods were embedded in several types of flexible materials in order to fabricate flexible electronic devices. Starting from the produced nanoparticle dielectric properties, flexible material dielectric properties were tested for high electromagnetic frequencies (30 GHz-2 THz) using time domain spectroscopy. Dielectric performances of the different materials obtained with variable nanoparticle concentrations up to 40 wt.

The paper presents a study concerning the role of ferroelectric filler size and clustering in the dielectric properties of 20%BaTiO-80%PVDF and of 20% (2%Ag-98%BaTiO)-PVDF hybrid nanocomposites. By finite element calculations, it was shown that using fillers with ε > 10 does not provide a permittivity rise in the composites and the effective dielectric constant tends to saturate to specific values determined by the filler size and agglomeration degree. Irrespective of the ferroelectric filler sizes, the addition of metallic ultrafine nanoparticles (Ag) results in permittivity intensification and the effect is even stronger if the metallic nanoparticles are connected to a higher degree with the ferroelectric particles' surfaces.

Lead-free piezoelectric ceramics with nominal composition at morphotropic phase boundary BaCaTiZrO (BCTZ) prepared by different processing routes and sintered either by conventional solid-state reaction or by spark plasma sintering (SPS) techniques were comparatively investigated to observe the role of structural modifications and of microstructures on the dielectric, ferroelectric, piezoelectric and electrocaloric responses. The ceramics presented relative densities from 75% to 97% and showed variations in their phase composition as a result of variable mixing and different synthesis and sintering parameters providing local compositional heterogeneity. As result, all of the ceramics showed diffuse phase transition and ferroelectric switching responses, with parameters affected mostly by density ( between 3.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by abnormal extracellular amyloid-beta (Aβ) peptide depositions in the brain. Among amorphous aggregates, altered metal homeostasis is considered a common risk factor for neurodegeneration known to accelerate plaque formation. Recently, peptide-based drugs capable of inhibiting amyloid aggregation have achieved unprecedented scientific and pharmaceutical interest.
