The widespread use of pharmaceuticals, including paracetamol, has raised concerns about their impact on the environment and non-target species. The aim of this study was to investigate the biochemical and molecular responses of Spinacia oleracea (spinach) to high paracetamol concentrations in order to understand the plant's stress responses and underlying mechanisms. Under controlled conditions, spinach plants were exposed to different paracetamol concentrations (0, 50, 100, and 200 mg/L).

, a ubiquitous zoonotic parasite infecting warm-blooded animals, poses a significant health threat to workers with occupational animal exposure (WOEA) due to their frequent contact with potential reservoirs. Existing data on seroprevalence in the WOEA exhibits substantial global variation. This systematic review and meta-analysis, adhering to PRISMA guidelines, aimed to quantify the global seroprevalence of infection among WOEA over the past five decades (1972-2023).

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), is a seriously increasing liver disorder affecting nearly 32% of adults globally. Hepatic triglycerides (TG) accumulation is the hallmark of MASLD, which results from dysregulated lipid and fatty acid uptake, increased de novo lipogenesis (DNL), and decreased lipid removal. More recently, selective autophagy of lipid droplets (LDs), termed lipophagy, has emerged to be closely associated with disrupted hepatic lipid homeostasis.

An innovative, simple, accurate, sensitive, and eco-friendly synchronous fluorescence spectrofluorimetric method has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of montelukast sodium (MON) and fexofenadine hydrochloride (FEX). The method relies on measuring the relative synchronous fluorescence intensity of both drugs using Δλ of 60 nm in methanol at 405 nm for MON and 288 nm for FEX. The experimental parameters influencing the developed method were investigated and optimized.

Recently, significant attention has been directed towards digital image colorimetry DIC using mobile applications or available software programs, which offer the advantage of analyzing samples without the need for sophisticated instruments. One such image processing program is Image J, widely used for obtaining quantitative information from scientific images. Image J could measure the color intensities by quantifying of the RGB (red-green-blue) gray levels across the images of colored substances.

Objective: We determined the association between sacrum displacement and ground reaction force (GRF) during walking on a level surface and identify the sub-phase of gait cycle most affected by GRF. The kinematic parameters of angular displacement of sacrum bone in three directions were measured and a correlation was derived to integrate the effect of GRF to sacrum displacement. Furthermore, gender variation in the sacrum bone configuration that induces the GRF to shift in one direction was determined.

Whole-body vibration (WBV) training is used for ankle rehabilitation as it stimulates muscle spindles to excite tonic vibration reflexes, and improves muscle strength, power, joint proprioception, balance, and flexibility. Thus, this study aims to determine the impact of whole-body vibration on the degree of the toe angle and the correlation between the toe angle and knee osteoarthritis index during level walking among female university students. A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 42 participants divided into two groups.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a public health concern and the second most common disease worldwide. This is due to genetic coding and is influenced by environmental aspects, in which the gut microbiota plays a significant role. The purpose of this study was to compare the microbiota makeup of CRC patients with that of healthy control and to identify upregulated and downregulated proteins and metabolites in CRC patients.

Camel brucellosis is a major public health concern in Sudan; however, there is no overall estimation of the prevalence of camel brucellosis in Sudan. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, this study aimed to perform a meta-analysis of 30 eligible studies published before December 31, 2022, with a total of 70059 dromedary camels, to estimate the pooled prevalence of camel brucellosis and its risk factors in Sudan. The random effect model was used for the final analysis due to the significantly high heterogeneity among the included studies, and the results showed that the overall pooled prevalence of camel brucellosis was 17%, with a confidence interval (CI) of 12%-21%.

Many image-processing applications heavily depend on the quality of medical images. Due to the unpredictable variation in the captured images, medical images frequently have problems with noise or low contrast; therefore, improving medical imaging is a challenging task. For better treatment, physicians need images with good contrast to provide the most detailed picture of the disease.

Trichinosis is a foodborne parasitic infection that results from ingestion of raw or under-cooked pork meat infected by parasitic nematode Trichinella spiralis with cosmopolitan distribution. Anthelmintic drugs are used to eliminate intestinal adult parasites and larvae as well as tissue-migrating newborn and in-turn encysted larvae. However, eliminating the infection or averting it from transmission is rarely possible using anthelmintic groups of benzimidazole derivatives.

Cancer accounts for more than 10 million deaths in the year 2020. Development of drugs that specifically target cancer signaling pathways and proteins attain significant importance in the recent past. The p21-activated kinase 4 enzyme, which plays diverse functions in cancer and is reported in elevated expression makes this enzyme an attractive anti-cancer drug target.
