Multifunctional dual-layer wound dressings hold significant promise for comprehensive full-thickness wound management by closely mimicking the native skin structure and features. Herein, we employed an innovative approach utilizing electrospinning techniques to develop a dual-layer dressing comprising a microfibrous Ecoflex®-Vanillin (Ex-Vnil) top layer (TL) and a nanofibrous Soluplus®-Insulin-like growth factor-1 (Sol-IGF1) bottom layer (BL). The tensile properties of dual-layer wound dressings were within the standard range for use in skin tissue regeneration.

Septic shock involves severe systemic inflammatory reaction toward various invading species, such as microorganisms and microbial toxins. Such a response is complicated and characterized as being a dynamic and time-dependent phenomenon. During this response, a significant amount of pro-inflammatory cytokines may be produced, causing a rapid death rate in septic victims and occasionally leading to apoptosis of immune cells within the first hours of septic reaction.

Background And Objective: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a hematological malignancy marked by the abnormal proliferation of myeloid precursor cells (blasts) in the bone marrow and peripheral blood, leading to disrupted blood cell production. The telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT), a key component of the telomerase enzyme, is often overexpressed in various cancers, including AML, contributing to cellular immortality. This study aimed to investigate the expression levels of the hTERT gene, serum protein concentrations, and hematological parameters in newly diagnosed AML patients, comparing these findings to AML patients in remission and healthy controls.

Background: The term 'remote diagnosis' in telemedicine describes the procedure wherein medical practitioners diagnose patients remotely by using telecommunications technology. With this method, patients can obtain medical care without having to physically visit a hospital, which can be helpful for people who live in distant places or have restricted mobility. When people in the past had health issues, they were usually sent to the hospital, where they received clinical examinations, diagnoses, and treatment at the facility.

Long surgical instruments, particularly in brain endoscopy, often compromise precision and control due to the physical distance between the surgeon's hand and the instrument's tip, increasing the likelihood of tremors. Various technological solutions, including robotics, have been proposed to address this issue. This report outlines the development of a pseudo-perception system aimed at improving control over long instruments in neurosurgical procedures by manipulating visual feedback to enhance the surgeon's sense of proximity to the instrument's tip.

In this investigation, to determine their potential as specific antibacterial agents, Schiff's bases (LT-SB1-23 and SB1-SB12) and novel quinoline-isatin hybrids were subjected to microbiological testing. The in-vitro screening against bacterial strains (Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Salmonella typhi) exhibited their antibacterial potential with many of the compounds showing inhibition range of 90-100 % at 200 μg/mL, against most of the tested strains. The MIC values of some of the compounds showed good antibacterial efficacy with values ranging from 32 to 128 μg/mL.
