The Argentine stem weevil (ASW), a major pest in ryegrass pastures, causes significant agricultural losses. Ryegrass can establish a symbiotic association with endophytic fungi, which supply chemical defenses, including peramine. This symbiosis helps protect ryegrass by providing peramine, which acts as a primary defense.

The aim of the present research is the isolation and morphological and molecular-phenological identification of nematophagous fungi of Southern Kazakhstan for the production of effective bionematicides on their basis. Nematophagous fungi, which include nematode-trapping, ovicidal, endoparasitic, toxin-producing, and special substance-producing fungi, are among the most effective biological agents in controlling phytoparasitic nematodes. To isolate and characterize nematophagous fungi, soil samples were collected at 12 sites in three regions of Southern Kazakhstan.

Mental rotation is an important aspect of spatial ability. While the importance of measuring mental rotation has been explored, disputes still exist within the literature surrounding sources of item difficulty in mental rotation tests (MRTs). Furthermore, gender differences in MRT performance are often seen but not fully understood.

One of the most important formalisms used to describe membrane transport is Onsager-Peusner thermodynamics (TOP). Within the TOP framework, a procedure has been developed for the transformation of the Kedem-Katchalsky (K-K) equations for the transport of binary electrolytic solutions across a membrane into the Kedem-Katchalsky-Peusner (K-K-P) equations. The membrane system with an Ultra Flo 145 Dialyser membrane used for hemodialysis and aqueous NaCl solutions was used as experimental setup.

The large-scale implementation of 2D material-based membranes is hindered by mechanical stability and mass transport control challenges. This work describes the fabrication, characterisation, and testing of self-standing graphene oxide (GO) membranes cross-linked with oxides such as FeO, AlO, CaSO, NbO, and a carbide, SiC. These cross-linking agents enhance the mechanical stability of the membranes and modulate their mass transport properties.

Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are valuable metabolic intermediates that are produced during dark fermentation of sludge, which, when capitalized on, can be used as chemical precursors for biotechnological applications. However, high concentrations of solids with SCFAs in hydrolyzed sludge can be highly detrimental to downstream recovery processes. This pilot-scale study addresses this limitation and explores the recovery of SCFAs from primary sludge into a particle-free permeate through a combination of chamber filter-press (material: polyester; mesh size: 100 µm) and cross-flow microfiltration (material: α-AlO; pore size: 0.

Choroidal thickness (ChT) is an important measurement for evaluating eye and systemic disorders, but it is influenced by numerous elements, especially axial length (AL). It is known that the presence of a linear relationship between ChT and AL exists, but recently it has been shown that the AL measurement obtained with the current optical biometry is not very precise and needs to be corrected. This study aimed to verify if a similar correlation also persists with this corrected AL (ALc).

Understanding the ammonium (NH) uptake and transport systems, particularly genes, is important for plant growth and defense. However, there is a lack of research on identifying and analyzing genes in pomegranate, emphasizing the need for further investigation in this area. Five genes ( to ) were identified, all of which contain the PF00909 domain, a feature of ammonium transporters.

Extensive investigation has been conducted on plant-based resources for their pharmacological usefulness, including various cancer types. The scope of this review is wider than several studies with a particular focus on breast cancer, which is an international health concern while studying sources of flavonoids, carotenoids, polyphenols, saponins, phenolic compounds, terpenoids, and glycosides apart from focusing on nursing. Important findings from prior studies are synthesized to explore these compounds' sources, mechanisms of action, complementary and synergistic effects, and associated side effects.

Plastic pollution, particularly from microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs), has become a critical environmental and health concern due to their widespread distribution, persistence, and potential toxicity. MPs and NPs originate from primary sources, such as cosmetic microspheres or synthetic fibers, and secondary fragmentation of larger plastics through environmental degradation. These particles, typically less than 5 mm, are found globally, from deep seabeds to human tissues, and are known to adsorb and release harmful pollutants, exacerbating ecological and health risks.

Electrochemical glucose sensor holds significant promise for the monitoring of blood glucose levels in diabetic patients. In this study, we proposed a novel electrochemical glucose sensor based on 1,10-Phenanthroline-5,6-dione (PD)/Ru(III) as a dual redox mediator. The synergistic effect of PD and Ru(III) was utilized to efficiently facilitate the electron transfer between the enzyme-active center and the electrode.

Alginate is an important natural biopolymer and metal ion-induced gelation is one of its most significant functional properties. Alginate-based hydrogels crosslinked with metal ions are commonly utilized in the food, biomedical, tissue engineering, and environment fields. The process of metal ion-induced alginate gelation has been the subject of thorough research over the last few decades.

Vulvar cancer is one of the rarest gynecological malignancies. The development of this condition can be associated with either dysplasia linked to human papillomavirus (HPV), primarily affecting younger women, or vulvar dermatoses such as lichen sclerosus, which predominantly affect older women. Over the last decade, the incidence of vulvar cancer has risen by 0.
