Pediatric-type follicular lymphoma (PTFL) is an extremely rare B-cell lymphoma that primarily affects children and young adults, typically in individuals under 25 years old, with a median age of 15 years. Here, we report a rare case of PTFL in a 27-year-old adult male who presented with a slow-growing mass near his left ear. Initial CT scans of the neck revealed two oval-shaped, smooth, well-defined, homogeneously enhancing soft tissue density lesions in the superficial lobe of the left parotid gland.

Intradural disc herniation (IDDH) is a rare condition, accounting for less than 0.5% of herniated disc cases, primarily affecting the lumbar region and often presenting with severe nerve compression or cauda equina syndrome. This paper presents the case of a 60-year-old female with a history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, stroke, and hypothyroidism, who arrived with severe lower back pain, lower limb weakness, and urinary retention.

Background The incidence of pregnancy-associated diabetes has increased in recent decades, leading to neonatal adverse outcomes like metabolic and hematologic disorders, respiratory distress, cardiac disorders, and neurologic impairment. Macrosomia, a common consequence of diabetes, is influenced by maternal blood glucose levels, impacting adverse neonatal outcomes. Aim The current study aimed to assess the neonatal and maternal outcomes of the infants of diabetic mothers.

Objective: To investigate the dynamics of collaborative learning in team-based learning (TBL) through students' reflections and feedback.
Methods: A phenomenological mixed-methods approach was adopted where the survey and reflections were conducted concurrently after the TBL session and the results were analyzed. The study employed a mini-cluster technique to include all first-year MBBS students of batch 2023-24 with an age range between 19 and 22 years.

Background: The Optilume paclitaxel drug-coated balloon (DCB) is a relatively new-to-market alternative in the management of male anterior urethral stricture disease. The pivotal trial excluded patients with a history of urethroplasty, although these strictures may be amenable to endoscopic management. Therefore, we sought to assess the efficacy of the DCB in the management of recurrent strictures following urethroplasty.

Unlabelled: Since the inception of transplantation, it has been crucial to ensure that organ or tissue donations are made with valid informed consent to avoid concerns about coercion or exploitation. This issue is particularly challenging when it comes to infants and younger children, insofar as they are unable to provide consent. Despite their vulnerability, infants' organs and tissues are considered valuable for biomedical purposes due to their size and unique properties.

Background: The increasing prevalence and burden of chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), the challenges in implementing pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) programs and the limited availability of alternatives and supportive programs to serve patients with COPD necessitate the development of pulmonary telerehabilitation (PTR) systems to provide patients with COPD with PR programs.
Objective: This study aimed to design and develop the ChestCare mobile Health app using user-centred design (UCD) approach. Thus, it provided PTR for patients with COPD, enhancing their self-management of symptoms and improving their compliance with PR programs.

This article discusses the recent study written by Koizumi . Alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) is a major cause of liver-related morbidity and mortality, which is driven by complex mechanisms, including lipid accumulation, apoptosis, and inflammatory responses exacerbated by gut barrier dysfunction. The study explored the therapeutic potential of elafibranor, a dual peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha/delta agonist.

Liver cancer, and in particular hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a disease of rising prevalence and incidence. To date, definitive treatment options include either surgical excision or ablation of the affected area. With increasing research on several pathways that could be involved in the progression of HCC, new elements within these pathways emerge as potential targets for novel therapies.

Prognostication of compensated advanced chronic liver disease (cACLD) is of paramount importance for the physician-and-patient communication and for rational clinical decisions. The paper published by Dallio reports on red cell distribution width (RDW)/platelet ratio (RPR) as a non-invasive biomarker in predicting decompensation of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)-related cACLD. Differently from other biomarkers and algorithms, RPR is inexpensive and widely available, based on parameters which are included in a complete blood count.

This letter critically evaluates Jiang 's article on the differentiation of benign and malignant liver lesions using Emax and platelet count. Despite notable findings, significant methodological and interpretative limitations are identified. The study lacks detailed assay conditions for Emax measurement, employs inadequate statistical methods without robust multivariate analysis, and does not provide clinically relevant threshold values.

In this article, we provide commentary on the recent article by Zhao . We focus on the shifts in the gut microbiota of patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV)-associated cirrhosis/portal hypertension (PH) following transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) and the implications for understanding the mechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment. By comparing the gut microbiota composition and dynamic changes before and after TIPS in patients with and without hepatic encephalopathy, the authors found an increase in non-probiotic bacteria in those who developed hepatic encephalopathy post-TIPS, with species present only in the hepatic encephalopathy group.

Hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths globally, and effective treatments are urgently needed. The present study aimed to investigate the inhibitory effect of Calculus Bovis (CB) on liver cancer and the underlying mechanisms. CB inhibited M2 tumor-associated macrophage polarization and modulated the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, thereby suppressing the proliferation of liver cancer cells.

Intermittent or transient right bundle branch block (RBBB) can occur in various clinical situations but is rarely described in acute pulmonary embolism. We present a unique case involving a 57-year-old male who experienced a syncopal episode during transit. He displayed signs of a transient right bundle branch block (RBBB) and S1Q3T3 on the initial EMS ECG, which reverted to normal ECG later.

Purulent bacterial pericarditis is a rare and progressive infection with a high mortality. It is rarely due to , a commensal bacteria found in the oral cavity, gastrointestinal tract, and the genitourinary tract. Here we present a 71-year-old man with history of esophageal adenocarcinoma, status post distal esophagectomy and proximal gastrectomy 2 years prior, who developed cardiac tamponade secondary to primary purulent bacterial pericarditis in the absence of an esophago-pericardial fistula.

Objective: This study aims to explore the differences in ocular parameters among adult myopic patients with different degrees of myopia and axial lengths, and to investigate the correlations between these ocular parameters.
Methods: This single-center observational study collected clinical data from myopic patients aged 18-45 years who visited the Eye Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between January and June 2023. The data included laterality, diopter of spherical power (DS), diopter of cylindrical power (DC), spherical equivalent (SE), axial length (AL), central corneal thickness (CCT), flat meridian keratometry (K1), steep meridian keratometry (K2), mean keratometry (Km), anterior chamber depth (ACD), corneal radius of curvature (CRC), and axial length/corneal radius of curvature ratio (AL/CRC).

Purpose: Biodiesel is a non-toxic, renewable, and environmentally friendly fuel used in compression ignition engines. This work aimed to develop FeO/SiO as a cheap, magnetic, and easy separable catalyst for biodiesel production from waste oil by sono-catalytic transesterification.
Methods: Fe₃O₄-SiO₂ was prepared using a modified Stober method and used as a heterogeneous catalyst in an ultrasound-assisted transesterification reaction to produce biodiesel.
