Cellular senescence contributes to a variety of pathologies associated with aging and is implicated as a cellular state in which cancer cells can survive treatment. Reported senolytic drug treatments act through varying molecular mechanisms, but heterogeneous efficacy across the diverse contexts of cellular senescence indicates a need for predictive biomarkers of senolytic activity. Using multi-parametric analyses of commonly reported molecular features of the senescent phenotype, we assayed a variety of models, including malignant and nonmalignant cells, using several triggers of senescence induction and found little univariate predictive power of these traditional senescence markers to identify senolytic drug sensitivity.

The characterization of tunnel wash water (TWW) from 12 Norwegian tunnels showed very high concentrations of total suspended solids (TSS), metals, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most prevalent endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age worldwide, and its related features like obesity, mental health issues and hyperandrogenism may contribute to inadequately investigated health problems such as sexual dysfunction (SD) and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Therefore, this study examined the impact of PCOS on sexual function (SF) and lower urinary tract in Syrian women by recruiting a total of 178 women of reproductive age, of whom 88 were diagnosed with PCOS according to the Rotterdam criteria and 90 without PCOS were considered as the control group. Female sexual function index (FSFI) and Bristol Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptom Questionnaire (BFLUTS) were used to assess SF and LUTS respectively.

Effective targeting of somatic cancer mutations to enhance the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy requires an individualized approach. Autogene cevumeran is a uridine messenger RNA lipoplex-based individualized neoantigen-specific immunotherapy designed from tumor-specific somatic mutation data obtained from tumor tissue of each individual patient to stimulate T cell responses against up to 20 neoantigens. This ongoing phase 1 study evaluated autogene cevumeran as monotherapy (n = 30) and in combination with atezolizumab (n = 183) in pretreated patients with advanced solid tumors.

Within the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) database (2008-2019), we tabulated IPC rates in metastatic testicular cancer patients receiving CCT, namely invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV), percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube (PEG), dialysis for acute kidney failure (AKF), total parenteral nutrition (TPN) or tracheostomy. Transition-metal carbides have been advocated as the promising alternatives to noble-metal platinum-based catalysts in electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction over half a century. However, the effectiveness of transition-metal carbides catalyzing hydrogen evolution in high-pH electrolyte is severely compromised due to the lowered proton activity and intractable alkaline-leaching issue of transition-metal centers. Herein, on the basis of validation of molybdenum-carbide model-catalyst system by taking advantage of surface science techniques, MoC micro-size spheres terminated by Al doped MoO layer exhibit a notable performance of alkaline hydrogen evolution with a near-zero onset-potential, a low overpotential (40 mV) at a typical current density of 10 mA/cm, and a small Tafel slope (45 mV/dec), as well as a long-term stability for continuous hydrogen production over 200 h.

A Schiff base of Chitosan was prepared by condensing of the Chitosan (CS) with six aromatic aldehydes and confirmed by FT-IR, NMR, XRD, TGA, and DSC. XRD results showed the disappeared of peaks at 2θ = 10° for CS and appeared one peaks at around 2θ of 23° for Schiff bases, while TGA was demonstrated that the thermal stability of CS has improved after the modification with the corresponding aldehyde. Also, DSC shows endothermal peak of CS at 100 °C due to the loss of water and second thermal event related to the decomposition of amine units with an exothermic peak at 295 °C, while Schiff bases shows endothermal peak around 70-95 °C which is related to the loss of water for all samples and the second exothermic peak around 260-280 °C is related to the decomposition of the amine group in the polymer units.

In this study, a sensitive and selective spectrofluorimetric method was developed for the determination of the antidiabetic drug nateglinide based on its reaction with the xanthene dye acid red 87 (AR87). A fluorescence quenching process was observed for the AR87 at 545 nm upon the addition of nateglinide, which was exploited for the quantitative analysis. The reaction mechanism was investigated using quantum mechanical calculations suggesting a transfer between the electron-rich AR87 and the electron-deficient nateglinide.

Introduction And Objectives: Patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention in vessels with moderate-to-severe tortuosity are at higher risk of adverse outcomes, but data are scarce in the era of newer-generation stents. We compared outcomes following percutaneous coronary intervention in vessels with moderate-to-severe tortuosity using a bioresorbable-polymer sirolimus-eluting stent (BP-SES) vs a durable-polymer everolimus-eluting stent.
