Objectives: Three-tesla MRI with gadolinium-based contrast agents is important in diagnosing Ménière's disease. However, contrast agents cannot be used in some patients. By using the compositional difference between the inner ear endolymph and perilymph, we performed basic and clinical research focused on potassium ions and protein to find the optimal parameters for visualizing endolymphatic hydrops on MRI without contrast.

Background: Challenges persist in achieving automatic and efficient inflammation quantification using dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients.

Purpose: To investigate an automatic artificial intelligence (AI) approach and an optimized dynamic MRI protocol for quantifying disease activity in RA in whole hands while excluding arterial pixels.

Study Type: Retrospective.

Purpose: A classification-based segmentation method is proposed to quantify synovium in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients using a deep learning (DL) method based on time-intensity curve (TIC) analysis in dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI).

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study analyzed a hand MR dataset of 28 RA patients (six males, mean age 53.7 years).

Globus sensation and pain causes are difficult to identify by conventional examination methods. With technology advances, new imaging methods including swallowing computed tomography (CT) and virtual reality (VR) have emerged and are contributing to definite diagnoses. We report two cases of cervical discomfort diagnosed as clicking larynx using swallowing CT/VR .

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the use of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) to estimate capillary blood volume in the kidneys, which could help predict renal function after surgery in patients with upper-tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC).
  • Researchers analyzed images from 48 patients who underwent surgery, creating detailed maps of kidney blood volume, and calculated the split renal function using these DWI signals.
  • The results showed a strong correlation between DWI-based assessments and actual postoperative kidney function, indicating that this noninvasive imaging technique can effectively aid in managing UTUC patients post-surgery.

Several visual scoring methods are currently used to assess progression of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) on radiography. However, they are limited by its subjectivity and insufficient sensitivity. We have developed an original measurement system which uses a technique called phase-only correlation (POC).

Article Synopsis
  • Intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid (IAHA) was studied for its impact on cartilage degeneration in knee osteoarthritis (OA) using MRI T1ρ mapping, which provided objective measurements over time.
  • The study involved 60 patients and classified changes in cartilage health into three groups: Improvement, No Change, and Deterioration, revealing a correlation between the number of IAHA injections and the degree of cartilage degeneration.
  • Results indicate that more frequent IAHA treatments may lead to better cartilage health, suggesting potential benefits of repeated IAHA injections for managing knee OA.

Background: METastasis Reporting and Data System for Prostate Cancer (MET-RADS-P) has been proposed as a standard of data acquisition and interpretation for whole-body diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (WB-DWI) performed in men with advanced prostate cancer. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the clinical significance of the scores in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC).

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated WB-DWI obtained from 72 patients with CRPC between 2014 and 2017, when disease progression was suspected at the time of starting a new line of anticancer therapy.

The objective of this study is to investigate computed DWI (cDWI) as an alternative method to contrast-enhanced MRI in comparison with directory measured DWI (mDWI) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) for differentiating synovial proliferation from joint effusion. Nine patients suspected with RA (5 women) were included in this study. A radiologist identified region of interest (ROI) based on STIR, and evaluated using a 5-point grading scale of 0 (fluid) to 4 (synovial proliferation) according to the degree of contrast enhancement within the ROI.

Objectives: Desmoplastic ameloblastoma (DA) is one of the rare pathological variants of ameloblastoma. The purpose of this study is to investigate CT and MR imaging findings of DA.

Methods: We retrospectively evaluated six DA cases that were gathered from four different hospitals and confirmed histopathologically with resected specimens.

Background: Postcontrast-enhanced MRI is currently the reference standard for synovial proliferation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the technique is somewhat invasive due to the use of gadolinium contrast agents, which may cause severe adverse/side effects. Intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) simultaneously permits quantification of perfusion as well as diffusion using a single imaging scan.

Infrapatellar fat pad has been implicated in knee osteoarthritis. We examined whether infrapatellar fat pad volume is associated with quantitative cartilage changes using magnetic resonance imaging T1ρ mapping. Fifty-eight knees of knee pain patients (19 men, 39 women, mean age 57.

Background: Synovitis, which is a hallmark of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), needs to be precisely quantified to determine the treatment plan. Time-intensity curve (TIC) shape analysis is an objective assessment method for characterizing the pixels as artery, inflamed synovium, or other tissues using dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI).

Purpose/hypothesis: To assess the feasibility of our original arterial mask subtraction method (AMSM) with mutual information (MI) for quantification of synovitis in RA.

Objectives: Morphological features of the distal femur and proximal tibia associated with cartilage degeneration are unknown. This study aimed to elucidate local anatomical parameters of the knee which correlate with articular cartilage degeneration using MRI T1ρ mapping.

Methods: This study involved 200 subjects with knee pain (mean age, 48.
