In order to improve the fluorescence quantum yield (QY) of NIR-II-emitting nanoparticles, D-A-D fluorophores are typically linked to intramolecular rotatable units to reduce aggregation-induced quenching. However, incorporating such units often leads to a twisted molecular backbone, which affects the coupling within the D-A-D unit and, as a result, lowers the absorption. Here, we overcome this limitation by cross-linking the NIR-II fluorophores to form a 2D polymer network, which simultaneously achieves a high QY by well-controlled fluorophore separation and strong absorption by restricting intramolecular distortion.

Background: Heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) has an influential but insufficiently investigated effect on ferroptosis, which is a novel form of programmed cell death and may play an effect on nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). However, the understanding of the mechanism is limited. Herein, our study aimed to explore the mechanism and role of HO-1 in NASH ferroptosis.

Purpose: As the major subtype of liver cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) suffers from high mortality and is prone to recurrence. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are well characterized to be pivotal players contributing to HCC pathogenesis and progression. Therefore, this study intended to probe the biological functions of LINC00886 in hepatocarcinogenesis.

Dentin hypersensitivity (DH) is a common symptom of various dental diseases that usually produces abnormal pain with external stimuli. Various desensitizers are developed to treat DH by occluding dentine tubules (DTs) or blocking intersynaptic connections of dental sensory nerve cells. However, the main limitations of currently available techniques are the chronic toxic effects of chemically active ingredients and their insufficiently durable efficacy.

Objectives: To evaluate the multiparametric diagnostic performance with non-enhancing tumor volume, apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), and arterial spin labeling (ASL) to differentiate between atypical primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) and glioblastoma (GBM).
Methods: One hundred and fifty-eight patients with pathologically confirmed typical PCNSL (n = 59), atypical PCNSL (hemorrhage, necrosis, or heterogeneous contrast enhancement, n = 29), and GBM (n = 70) were selected. Relative minimum ADC (rADC), mean (rADC), maximum (rADC), and rADC (rADC) were obtained by standardization of the contralateral white matter.

Locally routing the exciton emissions in two-dimensional (2D) transition-metal dichalcogenides along different directions at the nanophotonic interface is of great interest in exploiting the promising 2D excitonic systems for functional nano-optical components. However, such control has remained elusive. Herein we report on a facile plasmonic approach for electrically controlled spatial modulation of the exciton emissions in a WS monolayer.

Objective: This study examined the epidermal genetic profiles of actinic keratosis and SCC through non-invasive techniques seeking to develop a biopsy-free method for AK monitoring and aid in the early diagnosis of developing SCC.
Design: Ribonucleic acid (RNA) was collected from adhesive tape strips and gene expression levels were measured.

Infant-type hemispheric glioma, a new subtype of pediatric high-grade glioma, arises in the cerebral hemispheres. Despite better survival outcomes, the treatment of infant-type hemispheric glioma is still facing challenges. Here, we reported a case of QKI-ALK fusion, infant-type hemispheric glioma with lung metastasis who achieved a complete clinical response after lorlatinib treatment.

Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) are recognized as one of the second-generation electrochemical energy storage systems with the most potential due to their high theoretical specific capacity of the sulfur cathode (1675 mAhg), abundant elemental sulfur energy storage, low price, and green friendliness. However, the shuttle effect of polysulfides results in the passivation of the lithium metal anode, resulting in a decrease in battery capacity, Coulombic efficiency, and cycle stability, which seriously restricts the commercialization of LSBs. Starting from the separator layer before the positive sulfur cathode and lithium metal anode, introducing a barrier layer for the shuttle of polysulfides is considered an extremely effective research strategy.

The integration of two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides with plasmonic nanostructures is extremely attractive for the investigation of the resonance coupling between plasmons and excitons, which offers a framework for the study of cavity quantum electrodynamics and is of great potential for exploring diverse quantum technologies. Herein we report on the coupling between the magnetic plasmons supported by individual asymmetric Au nanocups and the excitons in WS monolayer and multilayer. Resonance coupling with the strength varying from weak to strong regimes is realized by adjusting the orientation of the individual Au nanocups on WS monolayer.

Objective: To investigate the clinical application value of radiomics features based on preoperative magnetic resonance imaging for predicting B-Raf proto-oncogene serine/threonine-protein (BRAF) V600E mutation in pediatric low-grade gliomas.
Materials And Methods: The clinical, imaging, and pathological data from 113 pediatric patients with low-grade gliomas patients were retrospectively analyzed. Using open-source software, three-dimensional imaging features were extracted on the basis of FLAIR sequences, and the radiomics process was analyzed to dichotomize BRAFV600E mutant and wild type.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common type of lung cancer. Although significant advances have been achieved in the treatment of NSCLC during the past two decades, the 5-year survival rate of patients with NSCLC remains <20%. Thus, there is an urgent requirement to further understand the molecular mechanisms that promote NSCLC development and to identify novel therapeutic targets.

Conventional chemically amplified resists (CARs) rely on the usage of photoacid generators to serve as the source of chemical amplification. However, acid diffusion inevitably accompanies CARs and has led to the resolution, line edge roughness, and sensitivity (RLS) trade-off, which is the most challenging technical problem for modern photoresists. Herein, we take advantage of the self-immolative property of polyphthalaldehyde (PPA) derivatives to create end-cap enabled chain scissionable resists for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify and validate novel biomarkers for distinguishing among hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), liver fibrosis/liver cirrhosis (LF/LC) and chronic hepatitis B (CHB).
Patients And Methods: Transcriptomic sequencing was conducted on the liver tissues of 5 patients with HCC, 5 patients with LF/LC, 5 patients with CHB, and 4 healthy controls. The expression levels of selected mRNAs and proteins were assessed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and immunohistochemical (IHC) staining, and were verified in validation set (n=200) and testing set (n=400) via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
