Diabetic wound healing remains a significant clinical challenge for the complex wound microenvironment characterized by oxidative stress, inflammation, and bacterial infection. To address these challenges, we present a novel hydrogel incorporates tea polyphenol-stabilized silver nanoparticles (TP@Ag NPs) into a dynamic hyaluronic acid-phenylboronic acid network crosslinked via borate ester bonds. This design leverages the inherent biocompatibility and biodegradability of hyaluronic acid alongside the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties of tea polyphenols and silver nanoparticles.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have emerged as promising biomaterials for the treatment of different disease. However, only handful types of EVs with clinical transformation potential have been reported to date, and their preparation on a large scale under biosafety-controlled conditions is limited. In this study, we characterize a novel type of EV with promising clinical application potential: dehydration-induced extracellular vesicles (DIMVs).

Objective: Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology is featured by the extracellular accumulation of amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques and intracellular tau neurofibrillary tangles in the brain. We studied whether Aβ and tau accumulation are independently associated with future cognitive decline in the AD continuum.
Methods: Data were acquired from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) public database.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of high intracranial burden and symptomatic presentation of brain metastases on treatment outcomes in patients with HER-2 positive breast cancer. Through a retrospective analysis, we explored the intracranial responses following the application of HER-2 targeted therapy alone or in combination with other modalities and further elucidated the relationship between treatment efficacy, intracranial progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and the burden of intracranial lesions and symptomatic presentations.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on cases of HER-2 overexpressing breast cancer patients with brain metastases.
Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) stands as a predominant and perilous malignant neoplasm globally, with the majority of cases originating from oral potential malignant disorders (OPMDs). Despite this, effective strategies to impede the progression of OPMDs to OSCC remain elusive. In this study, we established mouse models of oral carcinogenesis via 4-nitroquinoline 1-oxide induction, mirroring the sequential transformation from normal oral mucosa to OPMDs, culminating in OSCC development.

This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of the effect of TREM2 on cognitive function in autistic mice. TREM2 overexpression and knockdown viruses were given to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) mice and BV2 microglia cell line. To assess cognitive performance, all groups of mice took part in the open field, new object recognition, Morris water maze, and three-box social experiments.

Layered transition metal oxides are highly promising host materials for K ions, owing to their high theoretical capacities and appropriate operational potentials. To address the intrinsic issues of KMnO cathodes and optimize their electrochemical properties, a novel P3-type oxide doped with carefully chosen cost-effective, electrochemically active and multi-functional elements is proposed, namely KCuFeMnO. Compared to the pristine KMnO, its reversible specific is increased from 104 to 135 mAh g.

Skin cancer risk is increased by exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR). Because UVR exposure accumulates over time and lighter skin is more susceptible to UVR, age and skin tone are risk factors for skin cancer. However, measurements of somatic mutations in healthy-appearing skin have not been used to calculate skin cancer risk.

Understanding the formation process and pattern of production-living-ecological spaces (PLES) is crucial for sustainable land-use management and adaptive city governance. However, previous studies have neglected the symbiotic relationships between land-use functions (LUFs) in identifying and optimizing PLES. To address this gap, this paper proposes a technical framework for assessing PLES from a LUF symbiosis perspective.

Objective: The aim of this study was to find novel biomarkers and develop a non-invasive, effective diagnostic model for hepatitis B Virus-related chronic hepatitis and liver fibrosis/cirrhosis.
Method: Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was utilized to assess the expression of differentially expressed genes ( and ) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from healthy subjects, chronic hepatitis B (CHB), and liver fibrosis/cirrhosis (LF/LC) patients. The molecular mechanisms underlying AGRN-regulated CHB were further explored and verified in LX2 cells, in which small interfering RNA (siRNA) was used to block AGRN gene expression.

Molecular markers of autoimmunity, such as antibodies to citrullinated protein antigens (ACPA), are detectable prior to inflammatory arthritis (IA) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and may define a state that is 'at-risk' for future RA. Here we present a cross-sectional comparative analysis among three groups that include ACPA positive individuals without IA (At-Risk), ACPA negative individuals and individuals with early, ACPA positive clinical RA (Early RA). Differential methylation analysis among the groups identifies non-specific dysregulation in peripheral B, memory and naïve T cells in At-Risk participants, with more specific immunological pathway abnormalities in Early RA.

Background: Despite extensive work to identify diagnostic plasma markers for Parkinson's disease (PD), there are still no accepted and validated surrogate biomarkers. Mitophagy-associated proteins (MAPs), including PTEN-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1), Parkin, phosphoglycerate mutase 5 (PGAM5), BCL2 interacting protein 3 (BNIP3), and phosphorylated-TBK1 (p-TBK1), are, to our best knowledge, not well studied as a panel of biomarkers of neurodegeneration in PD.
Methods: The study population comprised 116 age-matched controls (HC), 179 PD patients, alongside and 90 PD syndromes (PDs) divided between two cohorts: (i) the modeling cohort (cohort 1), including 150 PD, 97 HC, and 80 PDs; and (ii) the validated cohort (cohort 2), including 29 PD, 19 HC, and 10 PDs.

In order to improve the fluorescence quantum yield (QY) of NIR-II-emitting nanoparticles, D-A-D fluorophores are typically linked to intramolecular rotatable units to reduce aggregation-induced quenching. However, incorporating such units often leads to a twisted molecular backbone, which affects the coupling within the D-A-D unit and, as a result, lowers the absorption. Here, we overcome this limitation by cross-linking the NIR-II fluorophores to form a 2D polymer network, which simultaneously achieves a high QY by well-controlled fluorophore separation and strong absorption by restricting intramolecular distortion.
