Background Smokeless tobacco (SLT) use, particularly gutkha, is prevalent in India, with cultural acceptance contributing to widespread use, especially among tribal populations. Despite awareness programs, there is limited assessment of their effectiveness, leading to continued vulnerability, even among educated groups. This study aims to evaluate public health strategies by developing and validating the SLT Awareness, Attitude, and Response Knowledge (STAARK) scale, which assesses knowledge and attitudes post-awareness programs on SLT usage through questionnaires, identifying vulnerable individuals, and enabling targeted interventions to reduce SLT use and associated health risks, particularly through integrated risk assessment (IRA).

In recent years, systemic inflammation has emerged as a pivotal player in the development and progression of various degenerative diseases. This complex, chronic inflammatory state, often undetected, can have far-reaching consequences for the body's physiology. At the molecular level, markers such as C-reactive protein, cytokines and other inflammatory mediators serve as indicators of systemic inflammation and often act as predictors of numerous musculoskeletal diseases and even certain forms of cancer.

Background: The advent of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine has introduced innovative approaches to treating degenerative and traumatic injuries, particularly in cartilage, a tissue with limited self-repair capabilities. Among the various stem cell sources, umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (UC-MSCs) have garnered significant interest due to their non-invasive collection, minimal ethical concerns, and robust regenerative potential, particularly in cartilage regeneration.
Methods: A comprehensive literature review was conducted using multiple databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar.

Unlabelled: Operating room fires are considered 'never events'; they are uncommon but can prove to be potentially damaging to the humans involved and the expensive operating room instrumentation. Research indicates that significant knowledge gaps exist in orthopaedic community relating to fire prevention, fire safety and fire management. A 24-year-old male patient with clavicle fracture was planned for surgical fixation.

Extrapulmonary tuberculosis is less commonly reported, and isolated tuberculous involvement of bones such as the radius, without any pulmonary lesions, is extremely rare. Diagnosing this condition can be challenging due to ambiguous clinical features and non-specific radiological findings in the early stages. The present case describes a rare instance of isolated tuberculosis of the radius in an immunocompetent Indian male with no pulmonary involvement.

Tuberculous infection of the extrapulmonary sites, especially the small bones, is a seldom reported entity even in endemic countries. Moreover, simultaneous involvement of the forearm muscles is a very rare presentation with no such case reported showing concurrent involvement of the two sites. The diagnosis is challenging due to the paucibacillary nature of the disease, a lack of awareness among primary clinicians, and ambiguity in clinical features with other musculoskeletal disorders, especially when there is no pulmonary involvement.

Type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has experienced a dramatic increase globally across countries of various income levels over the past three decades. The persistent prevalence of T2DM is attributed to a complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors. While numerous pharmaceutical therapies have been developed, there remains an urgent need for innovative treatment approaches that offer effectiveness without significant adverse effects.

The integration of fog computing into healthcare promises significant advancements in real-time data analytics and patient care by decentralizing data processing closer to the source. This shift, however, introduces complex regulatory, privacy, and security challenges that are not adequately addressed by existing frameworks designed for centralized systems. The distributed nature of fog computing complicates the uniform application of security measures and compliance with diverse international regulations, raising concerns about data privacy, security vulnerabilities, and legal accountability.

Novel investigations of how microgravity affects cellular and tissue development have recently been made possible by the multidisciplinary fusion of tissue engineering and space science. This review examines the intersection of cartilage tissue engineering (CTE) and space science, focusing on how microgravity affects cartilage development. Space microgravity induces distinct physiological changes in chondrocytes, including a 20-30% increase in cell diameter, a 1.

Pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and leprosy are of public health importance, as all three diseases are communicable and contribute to disease burden in society. Co-infection with these three entities is extremely rare but leads to significant mortality and morbidity. We report a case that highlights the diagnostic challenges and therapeutic management of a patient who was diagnosed with pure neuritic leprosy on multibacillary-multidrug therapy (MB-MDT) and subsequently co-diagnosed with PTB and HIV.

Metamizole, or dipyrone, has been used for decades as a non-narcotic analgesic, providing pain relief from musculoskeletal disorders and antipyretic and antispasmolytic properties. Despite being in use since the 1920s, its mechanism of action still needs to be discovered. Despite causing fewer adverse effects when compared to other analgesics, its harmful effects on the blood and lack of evidence regarding its teratogenicity make the usage of the drug questionable, which has led to it being removed from the drug market of various countries.

Introduction: Needlestick and sharps injuries (NSSIs) represent an existential occupational hazard risk to orthopaedic surgeons during their career due to the interaction with various devices, instruments and bone fragments. Consequently, NSSIs have the potential to transmit infections such as Hepatitis B (HBV), Hepatitis C (HCV) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) leading to serious illness. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to identify the clinical settings predisposing orthopaedic surgeons to NSSIs and assess their adherence to safety protocols in the Indian context.
