Supernormal conduction is defined as better-than-expected conduction in patients with depressed conduction during a short interval in the ventricular cycle. It is mainly observed in long-duration electrocardiogram (ECG) assessments. Its occurrence during 12-lead ECG is uncommon and its interpretation demands knowledge on electrophysiological alterations that are hard to understand.

One of the first steps to be taken in order to reduce lesions in sports, such as stress fractures, is to know the nature and extension of this pathology. What follows is a case report of segmental stress fracture of the tibia in recreational athletes, which is considered somewhat rare in the literature. Case report: a 40-year-old female patient who started to have follow-up medical checks due to unusual pain in her right leg, concentrated mainly on the proximal region of the knee and ankle, after a 10-km run for a period of one month.

Spitz and Reed nevi, also called spindle and/or epithelioid cell nevi, are a special group of melanocytic lesions due to their peculiar clinical, dermoscopic and histopathological features. The study of these nevi is of great interest because both their nomenclature and classification are still a matter of discussion. Most importantly, the difficulty to differentiate them from melanoma can lead to inadequate therapies.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore dynamic hyperinflation (DH) during treadmill exercise in patients with moderate to severe COPD, focusing on its occurrence, extent, and patterns.
  • A total of 30 non-hypoxemic patients underwent cardiopulmonary exercise testing, revealing that 63.3% experienced DH, with correlations observed between exercise tolerance and specific assessments in the DH group.
  • The findings indicate that while DH is common in some COPD patients, its impact on exercise tolerance varies, with progressive DH patterns leading to lower tolerance and higher dyspnea perception compared to stable patterns.
