This paper describes the results of tissue pressure measurement according to the Emmet technique in the subcutaneous fat at phlebogenic edema in 31 patients with lower extremity varicosity. The changes in the pressure were recorded over a length of 5-10 after needle impaction. The rate of tissue fluid resorption was measured.

Analysis was made of the results of 11 internal carotid reconstructions using polydioxanone (PDS) sutures 6 months after intervention performed in 10 patients. All operations on the carotid bifurcation were accomplished using 5/0 PDS continuous suture. Nine eversion carotid endarterectomies and 2 internal carotid reconstructions were performed for Kinkiking.

Presented herein is the first case of dislocation of the closing element of the artificial low-profile aortic valve to the abdominal aorta, which happened during replacement. Toward completion of extracorporeal circulation a 37-year-old man showed the signs of aortic insufficiency because of dislocation of the closing element. After resumption of extracorporeal circulation repeated replacement was accomplished.

The recent decades were marked by a noticeable growth of the number of patients over 70 years with abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). As a rule, in view of the high incidence of coexistent cardial pathology and arterial hypertension in patients of this age group with AAA, the risk of the forthcoming operation may be fairly high. The aim of the work was to study the effect of the initial cardial status of the patients and lesion of the target organs in arterial hypertension on the results of surgical treatment of patients over 70 years with abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Perioperative use of ofloxacin for prophylaxis was investigated in 20 patients with focal hepatic formations (hemangioma, adenocarcinoma, echinococcosis). Our investigations show that vital functions of some neurons and glial cells may survive for 4-8 hours after death and disappear in parallel with destructive changes in cells. Up-to-date morphological techniques demonstrate that neurons and other cells of the CNS preserve biological activity not for several minutes as believed so far but up to 4-8 hours. It is too early to judge about functional importance of this phenomenon and further investigations into this problem are necessary.
