Scombroid food poisoning (SFP) is a foodborne disease that develops after consumption of fresh fish and, rarely, seafood that has fine organoleptic characteristics but contains a large amount of exogenous histamine. SFP, like other food pseudo-allergic reactions (FPA), is a disorder that is clinically identical to allergic reactions type I, but there are many differences in their pathogenesis. To date, SFP has been widespread throughout the world and is an urgent problem, although exact epidemiological data on incidence varies greatly.

The clinical course of the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has shown that patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) are characterized by a high mortality rate, poor response to standard treatment, and low virus-specific antibody response after recovery and/or vaccination. To date, there are no data on the safety and efficacy of the combined vector vaccine Sputnik V in patients with CLL. Here, we analyzed and compared the magnitudes of the antibody and T cell responses after vaccination with the Sputnik V vaccine among healthy donors and individuals with CLL with different statuses of preexposure to coronavirus.

Background: The aim of the study was to assess the ratio of bone elements of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) in children and adolescents with distal occlusion according to cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Material And Methods: CBCT of the TMJ was analyzed in 121 patients aged 12-18 years, which were divided into two age groups: group I - children aged 12-15 years (62 cases in total, of which 47 patients with distal occlusion and 15 patients with physiological occlusion) and II group - adolescents aged 15-18 years (59 cases, of which 48 patients with distal occlusion and 11 patients with physiological occlusion). CBCT of the temporomandibular joint was performed by the standard method in the position of habitual occlusion and maximally open mouth.

The purpose of this study was to provide an immuno-mediated substantiation of the etiopathogenesis of mucositis and peri-implantitis based on the results of experimental, laboratory and clinical studies. The biopsy material was studied to identify impregnated nanoscale and microscale particles in the structure of pathological tissues by using X-ray microtomography and X-ray fluorescence analyses. Electron microscopy with energy-dispersive analysis identified the composition of supernatants containing nanoscale metal particles obtained from the surfaces of dental implants.

Biomedicines

November 2022

Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases and Gastroenterology, A.I. Yevdokimov Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry, Moscow 127473, Russia.

Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), previously known as primary biliary cirrhosis, is an autoimmune liver disease that mostly affects women. A progressive disorder in the processes of bile secretion and enterohepatic bile salts circulation in patients with PBC already in its early stages, leading to an insufficient release of bile acids into the bowel and their entry into the systemic circulation. Insufficient bile acids released into the duodenum contributes to the development of malabsorption, energy malnutrition, and slowly progressive weight loss.

Left atrial (LA) dysfunction seems to play a central role in the pathophysiology of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), is associated with disease severity and poor outcomes and potentially impacts management. Identifying LA myopathy can help guide tailored therapy for HFpEF. Echocardiography allows the accurate measurement of atrial size and function, where LA strain appears to be a sensitive measure of intrinsic LA myopathy.

Background And Aims: Validated questionnaires help to minimize diagnostic bias, to standardize symptom assessment and to achieve comparability between studies and centers. In a recent European guideline the adult and the pediatric carbohydrate perception questionnaires (aCPQ and pCPQ), were recommended to be used for the diagnosis of carbohydrate intolerances in adult and pediatric patients. The implementation of this guideline into clinical practice makes availability of validated translations a necessity.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is common in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). A chronic increase in mean left atrial pressure leads to passive remodeling in pulmonary veins and capillaries and modest PH (isolated postcapillary PH, Ipc-PH) and is not associated with significant right ventricular dysfunction. In approximately 20% of patients with HFpEF, "precapillary" alterations of pulmonary vasculature occur with the development of the combined pre- and post-capillary PH (Cpc-PH), pertaining to a poor prognosis.
