We aim to evaluate stone-free rate (SFR) and complications after flexible ureteroscopy (F-URS) for kidney stones, using a flexible and navigable suction ureteral access sheath (FANS), comparing thulium fiber laser (TFL) and high-power holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser (HPHL). Data from adults who underwent F-URS in 15 centers were prospectively analyzed (August 2023-January 2024). Exclusion criteria were ureteral stones, concomitant bilateral procedures, and renal abnormalities.

Background/objectives: Recent data indicate the involvement of skeletal muscles in the regulation of metabolism and in the pathogenesis of chronic noncommunicable diseases. The goal of our study was to describe the serum concentrations of myokines in patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and hypertension (HTN) and their correlation with laboratory parameters, blood pressure (BP), and MASLD severity.
Methods: A total of 67 patients with MASLD and HTN underwent anthropometric measurements, laboratory tests, and point shear-wave elastography.

Morphological evaluation of the small intestine mucosa and apoptosis activity (caspase-3) is necessary to assess the severity of damage to the small intestine. At the same time, proliferative index based on Ki-67 can be used to assess the regenerative potential of the small intestine. Fragments of small intestine of Wistar rats (n=60) of three groups: I) control (n=20); II) experimental group (n=20; local single electron irradiation at a dose of 2 Gy), III) experimental group (n=20; local single electron irradiation at a dose of 8 Gy) were studied by light microscopy using hematoxylin and eosin staining and immunohistochemical reactions with antibodies to Ki-67 and caspase-3.

Systemic inflammation and coronary microvascular endothelial dysfunction are essential pathophysiological factors in heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) that support the use of statins. The pleiotropic properties of statins, such as anti-inflammatory, antihypertrophic, antifibrotic, and antioxidant effects, are generally accepted and may be beneficial in HF, especially in HFpEF. Numerous observational clinical trials have consistently shown a beneficial prognostic effect of statins in patients with HFpEF, while the results of two larger trials in patients with HFrEF have been controversial.

Introduction: Impaired function of brain morphogenic genes is considered one of the predisposing factors for the manifestation of psychiatric and cognitive disorders, such as paranoid schizophrenia (SCZ) and major depressive disorder (MDD). Identification of such genes (genes of neurotrophic factors and guidance molecules among them) and their deleterious genetic variants serves as a key to diagnosis, prevention, and possibly treatment of such disorders. In this study, we have examined the prevalence of genomic variants in brain morphogenic genes in individuals with SCZ and MDD within a Russian population.

Mental illness and cognitive disorders represent a serious problem for the modern society. Many studies indicate that mental disorders are polygenic and that impaired brain development may lay the ground for their manifestation. Neural tissue development is a complex and multistage process that involves a large number of distant and contact molecules.

The materials used in dentistry for the fabrication of all-ceramic restorations have undergone great and rapid developments over the last two decades. Among the most common ceramic materials in dentistry are those based on zirconium and lithium disilicate. Due to the properties of these materials, they are in great demand in the field of dental restoration production.

Material And Methods: The study included 24 patients (24 eyes) with primary Fuchs' endothelial corneal dystrophy and cataract, who underwent cataract phacoemulsification with IOL implantation and of Descemet's membrane endothelial keratoplasty with a semicircular graft (hemi-DMEK). The effect of treatment was assessed by best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central corneal thickness (CCT) and endothelial cell density (ECD).

Ilya Matveyevich Kovarsky (1856-1933) - the founder and permanent head of the First Moscow Dentistry School, organizer and honorary member of the Moscow Dentistry Society, editor and publisher of one of the first Russian dental journals «Odontological Revue» - was deprived of his personal pension and suffrage in 1930 as a former owner of a private capitalist enterprise; his name was actually erased from the national dentistry. The portrait of Ilya Matveyevich Kovarsky - a remarkable doctor, teacher and worthy man - is reconstructed by the documents preserved in the Kovarsky family archive (on the basis of which this article was written) and the memories of his eldest daughter (published for the first time).

Material And Methods: The experiment included 20 mature (at age 20 weeks) male rats of Wistar line weighing 290-350 gr. The animals were divided into 3 study groups (5 rats in each) depending on experiment's duration after 85 mg/kg baclofen administration: 3, 4.
The article presents data on the relationship of pathogenetic mechanisms for the development of menstrual disorders of functional and organic origin in connection with mental disturbances from the point of view of the psychosomatic concept. According to the latter, functional disorders of the menstrual cycle are considered as psychosomatic, in which gynecological pathology develops as a result of psychopathological illness. A striking example of such a disorder is functional hypothalamic amenorrhea.

We report an optimized Kalinnikov-Dinh technology for pre-Descemet's endothelial keratoplasty (PDEK) that involves the use of a ring fixator, base, 30G needle connected to a 5-ml syringe with a spring-loaded plunger, and storage media. Our method allows to minimize graft preparation failure and preserves the PDEK graft efficiently, by reducing complications associated with the formation of type 1 big bubbles, including bubble rupture, perforation of Descemet's membrane and endothelium, and formation of type 2 or mixed type of big bubbles, and may contribute to increasing the number of surgeons performing PDEK around the globe.

Atherosclerotic plaques are sites of chronic inflammation with diverse cell contents and complex immune signaling. Plaque progression and destabilization are driven by the infiltration of immune cells and the cytokines that mediate their interactions. Here, we attempted to compare the systemic cytokine profiles in the blood plasma of patients with atherosclerosis and the local cytokine production, using ex vivo plaque explants from the same patients.

Unlabelled: There is an increased prevalence of respiratory infections among dentists, which is associated with a heavily polluted breathing area in the dental office. Patients and dentists are at high risk of cross-infection due to the spread of aerosols in the form of droplets suspended in the air. The ultrasonic scaler is the largest source of aerosols and spatter in the dental office.

Statistical analysis of mechanical properties of thin-walled samples (~500 microns) obtained by selective laser melting from AlSi10Mg material and subjected to heat treatment for 1 h at temperatures from 260 °C to 440 °C (step of aging temperature change 30 °C) has shown that the maximum strain hardening in the stretching diagram section from yield strength to tensile strength is achieved at the heat treatment temperature equal to 290 °C. At carrying out of correlation analysis, a statistically significant positive correlation between deformation corresponding to yield strength and the sum of heights of the largest protrusions and depths of the largest depressions of the surface roughness profile within the basic length of the sample (Rz) and the full height of the surface roughness profile (Rmax) was established. It was found that the reason for the correlation is the presence of cohesive states between the extreme values of the surface roughness profile that persist along the entire length of the specimen.
