A Finite Element Analysis of Single, Double & Matrix Miniplate in Fracture of the Mandibular ANGLE Region: An In Vitro Study.

Purpose: To evaluate and compare the efficacy of three osteosynthesis systems in fixation of mandibular angle fractures using Finite Element Analysis.

Materials And Methods: In this study, we used a three-dimensional finite element analysis to assess the stress, deformation and strain in three different groups with bite force loads. A three-dimensional finite element model of the mandible with three different plating techniques using modelling software 'Solidworks2018' and was analysed for stress, deformation and strain produced in the bone following biting loads of different magnitude using analysing software 'ANSYS Workbench'.

A 3D Finite Element Analysis of biomechanical effects on teeth and bone during true intrusion of posteriors using miniscrews.

Objective: The primary objective of this study was to investigate the biomechanical effects and stresses on bone, PDL, cementum and displacement along X-,Y- and Z-axis during true intrusion of molars using mini-implants with finite element analysis; the secondary objective of the study was to find out the best method for posterior intrusion in clinical practice.

Material And Methods: A 3D finite element method was used to simulate true molar intrusion using sliding mechanics. Two groups were made, with mini-implants placed on buccal side and palatal side with a cap splint for MODEL1, and a single mini-implant placed buccally with transpalatal arch (TPA) for MODEL2.

Idiopathic gingival fibromatosis, also called idiopathic gingival overgrowth (IGO), is a rare benign condition that occurs either in isolation or as a part of a syndrome. The overgrowth, if excess, impedes oral functions such as mastication and speech and causes cosmetic disfigurement. Diagnosis and treatment becomes challenging if the overgrowth is massive and accompanies other associated pathologies.

Surgical Staples: A Superior Alternative to Sutures for Skin Closure After Neck Dissection-A Single-Blinded Prospective Randomized Clinical Study.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of staples in skin closure after neck dissection in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma. The authors hypothesized that the use of staples would result in better wound closure compared with the use of nonabsorbable monofilament sutures.

Materials And Methods: A prospective single-blinded randomized clinical trial was performed to compare various parameters, including time for wound closure, inflammatory changes, pain, cost efficacy, complications, and esthetic outcome of skin closure with surgical staples versus nonabsorbable monofilament sutures and to determine their statistical relevance using χ and Mann-Whitney U tests.

Mandibular Arteriovenous Malformation in an 8-year-old Child: A Case Report.

Arteriovenous (AV) malformation is a congenital vascular anomaly in which there is an abnormal connection between the arterial and venous system resulting from developmental arrest during embryogenesis. In children, they are rare and potentially life-threatening. In the present case, an 8-year-old male patient presented with a simple gingival swelling associated with mobility of the corresponding teeth, which appeared relatively simple to excise but had an AV malformation associated with it.

Enhancing retention of partial dentures using elastomeric retention rings.

This report presents an alternative method for the retention of partial dentures that relies on the engagement of tooth undercuts by a lining material. The lab procedures are also presented. A new maxillary and mandibular acrylic partial dentures were fabricated using elastomeric retention technique for a partially dentate patient.
