Article Synopsis
  • The study compared dentinal microcrack formation in human mandibular incisors using hand K files versus different rotary nickel-titanium file systems.
  • Samples included 40 teeth divided into four groups: hand K files, XP-endo Shaper, Neoendoflex file, and Hero Shaper, with the sections analyzed under a scanning electron microscope.
  • Results showed that while all rotary systems except hand K files caused significant microcracks, the XP-endo Shaper resulted in the least amount of damage, indicating that single-file systems may be less harmful to dentin integrity.

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine if there is any difference in fracture resistance between different post sizes and lengths when more than one post is involved.

Materials And Methods: Thirty extracted maxillary first premolars were endodontically treated and divided into three groups: In Group 1 (control group), no post space preparation was conducted and access cavities were restored with composite; in Group 2 (single post), post space preparation of 10 mm was carried out only in one of the canals; and in Group 3 (double post), post space preparation of 5 mm was conducted in both the canals. Appropriately sized glass fiber posts were cemented in Groups 2 and 3 followed by core buildup.

Vascular lesions are indeed very widespread, with vascular tumors numbering the most common tumors in childhood. Researchers and authors frequently use the idiom "hemangioma" to portray or describe vascular malformations and a potpourri of vascular anomalies. Infantile hemangioma, a type of hemangioma, is one of the most common benign vascular tumors in infancy and childhood.

Desmoplastic ameloblastoma (DA) exhibits important differences in gender, anatomic distribution, radiographic findings, and histologic appearance compared to other types of ameloblastoma. Radiologically, DA is seen either as ill-defined mass containing osteolytic and sclerotic areas or as multifocal radiodense flecks within radiolucent background resembling a honeycomb. The radiographic differential diagnosis includes fibro-osseous lesions such as cemento-ossifying fibroma, fibrous dysplasia, calcifying odontogenic cyst, and chronic sclerosing osteomyelitis.

Background: Cancer is Latinized from Greek word 'karkinos' meaning crab, denoting how carcinoma extends its claws like a crab into adjacent tissues. It has been well established by researchers that virtually all oral cancer are preceded by visible clinical changes in the oral mucosa usually in the form of white or red patch (two-step process of cancer development). Mg is an essential mineral that is needed for a broad variety of physiological functions.

Background: Pemphigus is a group of autoimmune blistering diseases characterized by loss of keratinocyte cell adhesion that leads to blister formation clinically. Induction of apoptosis or of proapoptotic proteins by pemphigus immunoglobulin G (IgG) may be part of the mechanism by which IgG induces acantholysis. Some of the current data suggest that activation of proapoptotic proteins such as bax and caspase cysteine proteinases may sensitize cells to the acantholytic effects of pemphigus IgG.

Aim: Restorative dentists employ different bonding systems between the resin and the dentin and other dentinal tissues to achieve the goal of micromechanical retention. Studies have shown that the bond between composite and dentin degrades over time because of the action of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) on collagen fibrils left unprotected by acid etching. The MMPs may be partially responsible for hybrid layer degradation.
