Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a neutrophilic inflammatory dermatosis, whose management still represents a clinical challenge due to frequent unresponsive cases. The aim of our study was to evaluate the efficacy of a novel, combined approach including local wound management, based on the principle of PG-TIME and a systemic therapy with an anti interleukin (IL)-17A monoclonal antibody (mAb). We presented a case of a 37-year-old female patient, affected by multi-refractory PG.

Treatment of chronic leg ulcers remains a major challenge and it is a substantial financial burden on individuals, families, caregivers, and health care system. There is increasing evidence on using of autologous Platelet-rich-plasma in wound repair but limited clinical data are available on the efficacy and safety of the use of umbilical cord blood platelet gel (CBPG). In our pilot study, for the first time, we aimed to evaluated the safety and efficacy of the use of umbilical CBPG combined with a hydrogel dressing in 10 patients with chronic venous ulcers (VU).

Substances of abuse have the potential to cause addiction, habituation or altered consciousness. Most of the research on these substances focuses on addiction, and is carried out through observational and clinical studies on humans, or experimental studies on animals. The transposition of the EU into Italian law in 2014 (IT ) includes a ban on the use of animals for research on substances of abuse.

The circadian rhythms originate within the organism and synchronize with cyclic fluctuations in the external environment. It has been demonstrated that part of the human genome is under control of the circadian clock and that a synchronizer that helps to maintain daily rhythms is Melatonin, a neuro-hormone primarily synthesized by the pineal gland during the night. The chronic disruption of circadian rhythm has been linked to many conditions such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.

MolecuLight i:X is a autofluorescence, portable device that allows an assessment of wound area, perimeter, width and length and an evaluation in real time of wound surface bacteria (>104 CFU/g). Primary objective of our study was to evaluate the reduction of bacterial load associated to 3 different therapeutic approaches: dressings and multicomponent bandages (Group1), sharp debridement, dressings and multicomponent bandages (Group 2), and 10 patients treated with zinc oxide bandage (Group 3). Secondary objective was NRS pain scale, Wound Bed Score (WBS) and Quality of Life (QoL) assessment.

Background: There are limited data concerning procedure-related complications of endovascular thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion strokes.
Aims: We evaluated the cumulative incidence, the clinical relevance in terms of increased disability and mortality, and risk factors for complications.
Methods: From January 2011 to December 2017, 4799 patients were enrolled by 36 centers in the Italian Registry of Endovascular Stroke Treatment.
Lipid-rich carcinoma is a rare histotype of canine mammary tumors with cytoplasmic vacuolation. In humans, glycogen-rich carcinoma, secretory carcinoma, and myoepithelial neoplasms are included in the differential diagnosis for lipid-rich carcinoma. The aim of the study was to investigate the existence of histotypes other than lipid-rich in canine mammary carcinomas with vacuolated cytoplasm using a diagnostic algorithm based on histopathology, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, and ultrastructure and to evaluate the molecular phenotype of these neoplasms.

Objectives: Ultra-high frequency ultrasonography (UHFUS) is a recently introduced diagnostic technique which finds several applications in diverse clinical fields. The range of frequencies between 30 and 100 MHz allows for high spatial resolution imaging of superficial structures, making this technique suitable for the imaging of skin, blood vessels, musculoskeletal anatomy, oral mucosa, and small parts. However, the current clinical applications of UHFUS have never been analyzed in a consistent multidisciplinary manner.
