Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a prevalent and aggressive global malignancy. Conventional surgical treatments, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and targeted therapies often fall short in halting disease progression due to inherent limitations, resulting in suboptimal prognosis. Despite the advent of immunotherapy drugs offering new hope for NSCLC treatment, current efficacy remains insufficient to meet all patient needs.

Background: Rotator cuff tears (RCTs) are culprit of shoulder pain and dysfunction. Tendon-bone interface (TBI) mal-healing is an essential contributor to retear after RCTs. Consequently, present project was conducted to investigate the role of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs)-derived exosomes on TBI healing.

Background: This study aimed to explore the effect of a nanomaterial-based miR-320a inhibitor sustained release system in trauma-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (TIONFH).

Methods: The miR-320a inhibitor-loaded polyethylene glycol (PEG)- Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA)- Poly-L-lysine (PLL) nanoparticles were constructed using the double emulsion method. The TIONFH rabbit model was established to observe the effects of miR-320a inhibitor nanoparticles in vivo.

To introduce the methods of retrograde anterolateral thigh flaps in repairing anterior knee joint wounds under the concept of precise flap surgery and to explore the clinical effects. A retrospective observational study was conducted. From August 2014 to March 2022, 7 patients with anterior knee joint wounds were treated with retrograde anterolateral thigh flap under the guidance of the concept of precise flap surgery in the 920 Hospital of Joint Logistic Support Force of PLA.

Background: Flow-through flaps have been widely applied only for the reconstruction of complex defects in the extremities because they can be used for arterial reconstruction and soft tissue coverage simultaneously. This report attempts to fully demonstrate the role of the anterolateral thigh (ALT) flow-through flap as a versatile method for reconstructing complex defects in the extremities.

Methods: From February 2011 to March 2017, we retrospectively analyzed the use of a reconstructive surgical technique based on the ALT flow-through flap to treat complex extremity defects in 87 patients (trauma, n = 79; diabetic ulcers, n = 5; squamous cell carcinoma, n = 3).

Connexin 43-modified bone marrow stromal cells reverse the imatinib resistance of K562 cells via Ca 2+ -dependent gap junction intercellular communication.

Chin Med J (Engl)

January 2023

Medical Center of Hematology, Xinqiao Hospital, State Key Laboratory of Trauma, Burn and Combined Injury, Army Medical University, Chongqing 400037, China.

Background: Imatinib mesylate (IM) resistance is an emerging problem for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Previous studies found that connexin 43 (Cx43) deficiency in the hematopoietic microenvironment (HM) protects minimal residual disease (MRD), but the mechanism remains unknown.

Methods: Immunohistochemistry assays were employed to compare the expression of Cx43 and hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) in bone marrow (BM) biopsies of CML patients and healthy donors.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a specialized circular structure, are deregulated in cancers and play essential roles in biological processes involved in tumor progression. However, the mechanism by which circRNAs affect lung tumorigenesis and progression remains largely unexplored. To investigate the role of circRNA in lung cancer, circRNA expression profile was screened by bioinformatics analysis.

Objective: The objective of the study was to compare the safety, efficacy, and accuracy of the pedicle screws with the three-dimensional (3D) printed navigation template to the free-hand screws for type II odontoid fractures.

Patients And Methods: A total of 60 patients with type II odontoid fractures, treated with either template guiding pedicle screws or free-hand screws, were retrospectively assessed. The guiding group was treated with pedicle screws with the assistance of a virtual reality (VR) software-designed, 3D printed navigation template with two guide tubes.

Gut Microbiota Influences Neuropathic Pain Through Modulating Proinflammatory and Anti-inflammatory T Cells.

Anesth Analg

April 2021

From the Center for Translational Pain Research, Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts.

Background: Gut microbiota, a consortium of diverse microorganisms residing in the gastrointestinal tract, has emerged as a key player in neuroinflammatory responses, supporting the functional relevance of the "gut-brain axis." Chronic-constriction injury of the sciatic nerve (CCI) is a commonly used animal model of neuropathic pain with a major input from T cell-mediated immune responses. In this article, we sought to examine whether gut microbiota influences CCI neuropathic pain, and, if so, whether T-cell immune responses are implicated.
