Background: Cardiac toxicity resulting in long-term complications are recognised side effect of anthracycline-based chemotherapy used in the treatment of breast cancer. Current management modality involves measurement of left ventricular ejection fraction which has inherent limitations due to its dependence on haemodynamic conditions, and inability to detect subclinical changes in left ventricular systolic function. This study aimed to evaluate changes in the concentration of cardiac biomarkers present in serum as indicators of cardiac toxicity in breast cancer patients undergoing Epirubicin-based chemotherapy.

Introduction: Peritoneal dialysis (PD) remains underutilised and unplanned start of dialysis further diminishes the likelihood of patients starting on PD, although outcomes are equal to haemodialysis (HD).
Methods: A survey was sent to members of EuroPD and regional societies presenting a case vignette of a 48-year-old woman not previously known to the nephrology department and who arrives at the emergency department with established end-stage kidney disease (unplanned start), asking which dialysis modality would most likely be chosen at their respective centre. We assessed associations between the modality choices for this case vignette and centre characteristics and PD-related practices.
The World Health Organisation advice for post-partum women living with HIV (WLHs) in low- and middle-income countries is to breastfeed on suppressive antiretroviral treatment and use infant postnatal prophylaxis. In resource-rich settings, where formula feeding is safe, avoidance of breastfeed is advised. A questionnaire was created to survey attitudes to breastfeeding in WLHs in the United Kingdom.

Background: Little is known about long-term survivors with encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (EPS). Published literature focuses on patients managed surgically. We describe our experience of the long-term outcomes in patients with EPS conservatively managed with nutritional support alone.
