Advanced primary urethral cancer: a case report.

J Med Case Rep

November 2019

Yichang Central People's Hospital, Institute of Urology, The First College of Clinical Medical Science, Three Gorges University, No. 183, Xiling District, Yichang, 443000, Yichang Hubei Province, China.

Background: Primary urethral cancer is exceedingly rare, resulting in a limitation in clinicians' experience, and an accurate diagnosis is often delayed due to the non-specific clinical presentation. Here, we present this case report to show the treatment of a patient with primary urethral cancer. Our patient was diagnosed as having primary urethral cancer in the First Clinical Hospital of Yichang by cystoscopy and biopsy.

Endocannabinoid 2-Arachidonoylglycerol Suppresses LPS-Induced Inhibition of A-Type Potassium Channel Currents in Caudate Nucleus Neurons Through CB1 Receptor.

J Mol Neurosci

August 2016

Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, College of Medical Sciences, China Three Gorges University, 8 University Road, 443002, Yichang, Hubei, People's Republic of China.

Article Synopsis
  • * 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG), an important endogenous cannabinoid, shows neuroprotective effects by counteracting inflammation, but its mechanisms are not completely clear.
  • * The study found that lipopolysaccharides (LPS) reduced A-type potassium currents in CN neurons, and that increasing 2-AG levels could reverse this effect through CB1 receptor pathways, hinting at potential therapeutic applications for inflammation-related neurological conditions.

Effect of Homocysteine on Voltage-Gated Sodium Channel Currents in Primary Cultured Rat Caudate Nucleus Neurons and Its Modulation by 2-Arachidonylglycerol.

J Mol Neurosci

December 2015

Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, College of Medical Sciences, China Three Gorges University, 8 University Road, 443002, Yichang, Hubei,, People's Republic of China.

Article Synopsis
  • Homocysteine (Hcy) is linked to Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases, affecting the caudate nucleus (CN), which is crucial in neurological disorders.
  • The cannabinoid 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) offers neuroprotective effects in the central nervous system (CNS) and may counteract the negative effects of Hcy.
  • Research using whole-cell patch clamp recordings found that high levels of Hcy increased sodium currents in CN neurons, but 2-AG was able to reduce this increase, highlighting its potential as a treatment for Hcy-related neurological issues.

Endocannabinoid 2-arachidonylglycerol protects primary cultured neurons against homocysteine-induced impairments in rat caudate nucleus through CB1 receptor.

J Mol Neurosci

February 2015

Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, College of Medical Sciences, China Three Gorges University, 8 University Road, 443002, Yichang, Hubei, People's Republic of China.

Homocysteine (Hcy) is a high risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). Caudate nucleus (CN), the major component of basal ganglia in the brain, is also involved in many neurological disorders. 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG), the true natural ligand for cannabinoid type-1 (CB1) receptors and the most abundant endogenous cannabinoid, has been shown to exhibit neuroprotective effects through its anti-inflammatory action from proinflammatory stimuli in the hippocampus and CN.

Inflammation plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of many diseases in the central nervous system. Caudate nucleus (CN), the largest nucleus in the brain, is also implicated in many neurological disorders. 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG), the most abundant endogenous cannabinoid and the true natural ligand for CB1 receptors, has been shown to exhibit neuroprotective effects through its anti-inflammatory action from proinflammatory stimuli in hippocampus.

Polyhydroxylated phragmalins from the fruit of a Chinese mangrove, Xylocarpus granatum.

J Nat Prod

July 2006

Chemistry & Life Science College, China Three Gorges University, 8 University Road, Yichang 443002, People's Republic of China.

Three new polyhydroxylated phragmalins, named xyloccensins Y, Z(1), and Z(2) (1-3), were isolated from the fruit of a Chinese mangrove, Xylocarpus granatum, together with eight known compounds. The structures of these compounds were established on the basis of spectroscopic data and chemical methods.
