Background: Relationships between distinct antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence patterns and risk of drug resistance are not well understood.

Methods: We conducted a nested case-control analysis within a longitudinal cohort study of individuals initiating efavirenz-based ART. Primary outcomes of interest, measured at 6 and 12 months after treatment initiation, were: 1) virologic suppression, 2) virologic failure with resistance, and 3) virologic failure without resistance.

Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine, 573932College of Dentistry, 50699The University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA, USA.

Objective: The etiology of cleft palate (CP) is poorly understood compared with that of cleft lip with or without palate (CL ± P). Recently, variants in Grainyhead like transcription factor 3 () were reported to be associated with a risk for CP in European and some African populations including Nigeria, Ghana, and Ethiopia. In order to identify genetic variants that may further explain the etiology of CP, we sequenced in a South African population to determine if rare variants in are associated with the presence of syndromic or nonsyndromic CP.

Women with a history of pre-eclampsia (PE) tend to have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular and neurological diseases later in life. Imbalance in oxidative markers and purinergic enzymes have been implicated in the pathogenesis of neurological disease. This study investigated the effect of PE on oxidative imbalance, purinergic enzyme inhibitory activity, acetylcholinesterase and chymotrypsin activities in the brain of PE rat model at post-partum/post-natal day (PP/PND) 60.
