ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

April 2020

State Key Laboratory of High Performance Ceramics and Superfine Microstructures, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai 200050, People's Republic of China.

Magnetite (FeO) nanoparticles have been extensively used in noninvasive cancer treatment, for example, magnetic hyperthermia (MH) and chemodynamic therapy (CDT). However, how to achieve a highly efficient MH-CDT synergistic therapy based only on a single component of FeO still remains a challenge. Herein, hollow FeO mesocrystals (MCs) are constructed via a modified solvothermal method.

In the pathological mechanism of pulmonary arterial hypertension, the role of apoptosis-resistant pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells (PVECs/AR) has been emphasized on the pulmonary vascular remodeling. In the present study, we investigated whether PVECs/AR can promote the proliferation and migration of pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMCs), and to study the role of miR-195-5p in the crosstalk between these two types of cells. We confirmed that PVECs/AR can promote the proliferation and migration of PASMCs in a co-culture system of AR/PVECs and PASMCs.

Role of HIPK2 in kidney fibrosis.

Kidney Int Suppl (2011)

November 2014

Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, New York, USA.

Homeodomain interacting protein kinase 2 (HIPK2) functions as either a co-repressor or a co-activator of transcriptional regulators. Dysregulation of HIPK2 is associated with cancer and neurological disease. Recently, we found that HIPK2 is also an important driver of kidney fibrosis in the HIV-1 transgenic murine model, Tg26.

Introduction: The potential value of proximal femoral locking compression plate (PFLCP) for extracapsular femoral fractures has been discussed in several case reports; however, clinical control studies are lacking. Therefore, we performed a case control study to assess: (1) If PFLCP offers better functional results and fewer complications than dynamic hip screws (DHS)? (2) Which kind of extracapsular femoral fractures would benefit from PFLCP fixation?

Hypothesis: The PFLCP fixation offers better functional results and fewer complications than the DHS for the treatment of extracapsular fractures.

Patients And Methods: A total of 83 patients with extracapsular femoral fractures were recruited.
