Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a common postoperative complication of knee/hip arthroplasty. There is a continued need for artificial intelligence-based methods of predicting lower extremity DVT risk after knee/hip arthroplasty. In this study, we performed a retrospective study to analyse the data from patients who underwent primary knee/hip arthroplasty between January 2017 and December 2021 with postoperative bilateral lower extremity venous ultrasonography.

Limited studies have focused on the impact of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) to albumin ratio (CAR) on cardiovascular outcomes in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Hence, the present study evaluates the association between CAR and cardiovascular outcomes in patients undergoing drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation. We consecutively enrolled 9375 CHD patients undergoing DES implantation.

A study on the correlation of placental characteristics and the onset of selective intrauterine growth restriction.

Sci Prog

April 2022

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 66482Peking University Third Hospital, No.49 Hua Yuan North Road, Hai Dian District, Beijing 100191, China.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between placental characteristics and the onset of selective intrauterine growth restriction (sIUGR) and to explore the influence of placental characteristics on sIUGR onset.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted at our hospital from April 2013 to April 2019. The pregnancy data and placental perfusion of 114 sIUGR patients who had received conservative treatment and delivered in our hospital were included.

Purpose: To investigate the prevalence of dry eye symptoms after successful dacryocystorhinostomy and explore the potential risk factors.

Methods: This cross-sectional study included 565 patients with lacrimal passage obstruction (LPO) who underwent external dacryocystorhinostomy. Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) total score of 13 or more was regarded as presence of dry eye symptoms.

Background And Aim: Distal cerebral circulation aneurysms (DCCAs) remain treatment challenges for neurointervention. The off-label use of the pipeline embolization device (PED) for these aneurysms remains controversial. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of PED for DCCAs in a multicenter cohort of patients.

Purpose: To assess the distribution pattern of aerosol in the aspect of time and direction during the intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement by air-puff non-contact tonometer (NCT) and further offer references for protection from coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) in the routine ophthalmic examination.

Method: A single-center observational study was conducted in the ophthalmology clinics of Peking University Third Hospital. Two air quality detectors were equipped to assess the generated particulate matter (PM) concentration simultaneously within 30 s after IOP measurement in the outpatient hall.

Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.

Objectives: The treatment of giant thoracic disc herniation (gTDH)remains challenging for surgeons worldwide because of its large volume and calcified or ossified nature and the limitations of the prior small-sample-size, single-center studies reporting comparative effectiveness. We aim to compare the anterior decompression and spinal fusion (ASF) and posterior circumspinal decompression and spinal fusion (PCDF) for patients with myelopathy due to gTDH in the largest study to date by sample size.

Exogenous and endogenous formaldehyde (FA) both play an important role in cell growth and migration; however, their potential role in osteoblasts remains largely unclear. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and wound-healing assays revealed that FA exposure at naturally occurring concentrations inhibited the proliferation and migration of mouse preosteoblast MC3T3-E1 cells. Moreover, RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis revealed that FoxO1 signaling pathway components displayed distinct expression patterns upon FA exposure, reflected through significant enrichment of cell migration.

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility and safety of high dose rate interstitial brachytherapy (HDR-IB) assisted with 3-dimensional printing individual template (3D-PIT) for central pelvic recurrent gynecologic cancer (CR-GYN).

Methods: Totally 32 patients diagnosed with CR-GYN received iridium-192(192Ir) HDR-IB assisted with 3D-PIT that was classified in 2 types(Type I: transvaginal template/ applicator, and Type II: transvaginal combined transperineal template). The prescribed dose to gross tumor volume (GTV) was 10-36 Gy in 2-6 fractions.

Introduction: In our previous study, we demonstrated that there might be correlations between laryngopharyngeal reflux disorder and the hue value of laryngoscopic images. And we found that different regions of larynx have different hue values. It was hypothesized that the degree of inflammation varies between different laryngeal regions, due to an acid reflux pattern.
