Nickel chloride induces anticancer biological responses in hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines.

Nickel has long been known to have a toxic effect in humans and has been defined as a human carcinogen. However, recent studies have suggested that nickel chloride (NiCl) may also possess anticancer properties. The liver is one of the target organs for nickel, and thus, the present study aims to evaluate the effect of NiCl on anticancer biological responses in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell lines.

Awareness of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis among men who have sex with men using apps for sexual encounters in Turkiye.

Background: New HIV diagnoses are rising in Turkiye. Men who have sex with men (MSM) are estimated to be the main driver of the epidemic. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) was proven to be effective in reducing new HIV diagnoses and PrEP recently became available in Turkiye.

Correction of high astigmatism with toric intraocular lens in eyes with corneal transplant.

Objectives: To evaluate the results of toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation during cataract surgery in eyes with high regular astigmatism associated with prior penetrating keratoplasty (PK).

Methods: A retrospective data analysis of patients with prior PK, who underwent uncomplicated cataract surgery with hydrophobic toric single piece IOL (EyeCryl Toric®, Biotech Vision Care, Luzern, Switzerland).

Results: A total of 18 eyes of 18 patients were included in the study.

COVID-19-Related Stigma and Mental Health of Children and Adolescents During Pandemic.

This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate depression and anxiety symptoms of the children/grandchildren of COVID-19 patients, children/grandchildren of healthcare workers who have not infected COVID-19, and children/grandchildren of the control group. Parent and children's perception about COVID-19-related stigma is also investigated and compared between groups. The perception about COVID-19-related stigma between different age and gender groups among children also investigated and compared.

Short and Midterm Outcomes in Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction: Results of the Nationwide TURKMI Registry.

This recent Turkish Myocardial Infarction registry reported that guidelines are largely implemented in patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) in Turkey. We aimed to obtain up-to-date information for short- and midterm outcomes of acute MI. Fifty centers were selected using probability sampling, and all consecutive patients with acute MI admitted to these centers (between November 1 and 16, 2018) were enrolled.

Histogram Analysis of ADC Maps for Differentiating Brain Metastases From Different Histological Types of Lung Cancers.

Purpose: Our study aimed to investigate the role of histogram analysis derived from apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps in brain metastases (BMs) from lung cancer for differentiating histological subtype.

Methods: A total of 61 BMs (45 non-small cell lung cancer [NSCLC] comprising 32 adenocarcinoma [AC], 13 squamous cell carcinoma [SCC], and 16 small-cell lung cancer [SCLC]) in 50 patients with histopathologically confirmed lung cancer were retrospectively included in this study. Pretreatment cranial diffusion-weighted imaging was performed, and the corresponding ADC maps were generated.
