Thymolipomas are benign lesions in the anterior mediastinum that most commonly present in the first three decades of life. They often are asymptomatic and can be very large at time of diagnosis. After incidental detection of a thoracic mass on an abdominal ultrasound, an otherwise well 10 years old male was evaluated with further imaging, including a cardiac-gated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) study.

Arabidopsis MORC1 (Microrchidia) is required for multiple levels of immunity. We identified 14 MORC1-interacting proteins (MIPs) via yeast two-hybrid screening, eight of which have confirmed or putative nuclear-associated functions. While a few MIP mutants displayed altered bacterial resistance, MIP13 was unusual.

Background: Studies in critically ill adults demonstrate associations between serum renin concentrations (a proposed surrogate for renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system dysregulation) and poor outcomes, but data in critically ill children are lacking. We assessed serum renin + prorenin concentrations in children with septic shock to determine their predictive ability for acute kidney injury (AKI) and mortality.
Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis of a multicenter observational study of children aged 1 week to 18 years admitted to 14 pediatric intensive care units (PICUs) with septic shock and residual serum available for renin + prorenin measurement.

Introduction: Fear surrounding nosocomial infections, expanded telehealth, and decreases in ED (emergency department) utilization altered the way patients sought emergency care during the COVID pandemic. This study aims to evaluate COVID-19's impact on the frequency and characteristics of unscheduled return visits (URVs) to the adult and pediatric ED.
Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, the electronic medical record was used to identify ≤9-day URVs at a tertiary adult and pediatric ED from 4/16/19-2/29/20 (control) and 4/16/20-2/28/21 (COVID).

Sex and gender differences in rehabilitation are important because more than half of patients seen by allied health professionals are female. Sex- and gender-specific curricula should be audited to enhance interprofessional education in women's health. The research question was: What is the extent of information about sex and gender differences that is included in selected allied health professions curricula? Student scholars from allied health programs audited courses in real time for references to sex and gender differences.
