Physicians, nurses, social workers, and allied health professionals including physiotherapists and occupational therapists play important roles as they work closely with stroke survivors to improve functional independence in daily activities and quality of life. Yet, in Singapore little is known about their perspectives on what constitute quality stroke care based on their clinical experiences. In this project, our qualitative interviews with 15 healthcare workers at a major stroke center in the country yielded a Continuity of Care Advocate Model (CCAM) to help us better understand our participants' experience-based perspectives on quality stroke care.

In a growing body of literature, poor sleep quality has been associated with externalizing problems. In adults, anxiety was found to mediate the relationship, and callous-unemotional (CU) traits were found to moderate it. We sought to examine these relationships in a child population.

Objective: We examined the formal and informal advance care planning (ACP) patterns of older couples and determined how these patterns are associated with individual and spousal characteristics.

Methods: Using data from the 2014 and 2016 Health and Retirement Study, we performed latent class analysis to identify ACP patterns and multinomial regression models to describe characteristics of older couples ( = 2195 couples).

Results: We identified four ACP patterns: high engaging couple (47%); high engaging husband-low engaging wife (11%); high engaging wife-low engaging husband (11%); and low engaging couple (31%).

The number of falls among older adults is rising due to an aging population worldwide. An integrated communication campaign utilizing mHealth (mobile health) encouraged older adults to perform strength, balance, and flexibility exercises to reduce their risk of falling. Campaign development was guided by a mixed-method approach which incorporated expert interviews ( = 3), qualitative interviews ( = 22), and a quantitative baseline pre-campaign survey ( = 274) with older adults.

Virtual reality exposure therapy (VRET) has been commonly utilised as an extension of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). However, most studies examined its effectiveness among adults, with no study focusing on children with selective mutism (SM). We aimed to examine its feasibility and acceptability among children with SM.

Visual illusions are fascinating phenomena that have been used and studied by artists and scientists for centuries, leading to important discoveries about the neurocognitive underpinnings of perception, consciousness, and neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia or autism. Surprisingly, despite their historical and theoretical importance as psychological stimuli, there is no dedicated software, nor consistent approach, to generate illusions in a systematic fashion. Instead, scientists have to craft them by hand in an idiosyncratic fashion, or use pre-made images not tailored for the specific needs of their studies.

Ultrahigh-dimensional gene features are often collected in modern cancer studies in which the number of gene features is extremely larger than sample size . While gene expression patterns have been shown to be related to patients' survival in microarray-based gene expression studies, one has to deal with the challenges of ultrahigh-dimensional genetic predictors for survival predicting and genetic understanding of the disease in precision medicine. The problem becomes more complicated when two types of survival endpoints, distant metastasis-free survival and overall survival, are of interest in the study and outcome data can be subject to semi-competing risks due to the fact that distant metastasis-free survival is possibly censored by overall survival but not vice versa.

We examined whether older adults' health and well-being during their final year of life predicts end-of-life (EOL) quality of life (QOL) and quality of care (QOC). Using data from deceased participants ( = 1125) in the 2011-2015 National Health and Aging Trends Study, we performed latent class analysis to identify profiles of health and well-being, and we examined the association between these classes and EOL QOL and QOC. Four classes were identified: healthy/happy (20%), frail/happy (37%), cognitively impaired/moderately distressed (27%), and highly impaired/highly distressed (16%).

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) requires patients to develop a variety of self-management skills in order to effectively deliver and manage their dialysis at home. eHealth interventions may provide patients with accessible information to develop the skills and knowledge they require to manage their treatment. This review aims to identify and evaluate 'active' eHealth interventions in supporting patients on PD.
