Ammonia nitrogen (NH-N) discharge has caused eutrophication of water bodies and harm to humans and organisms. In this work, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), diatomite (DE), and FeO were used to prepare magnetic immobilized carriers by encapsulating microorganisms for the treatment of NH-N wastewater. The response surface methodology was used to explore the optimal ratio of the immobilized carriers.

Antibiotic resistance is recognized as one of the top ten global public health threats, posing a significant challenge to human health. The stereochemistry of chiral molecules, alongside their specific interactions with biological targets, provides essential insights for the development of novel antibacterial agents, This study investigated the antibacterial activity of 32 previously synthesized 14-position chiral matrine derivatives. Among these derivatives, compound Q4 exhibited the strongest activity against Propionibacterium acnes, with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.

On acidified soil, the growth of Eucalyptus is seriously restricted by aluminum (Al) stress. Therefore, breeding Eucalyptus species with excellent Al tolerance, developing the genetic potential of species, and improving tolerance to Al stress are important for the sustainable development of artificial Eucalyptus forests. By observing the occurrence and distribution of the main reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) in root tips of Eucalyptus seedlings under Al stress, this study analyzed change in the growth and physiological indexes of Eucalyptus seedlings under Al stress.

Poly (lactic acid) (PLA) is a widely produced bio-based polymer known for its biodegradability and renewability, but its brittleness, low heat resistance, and weak mechanical properties limit its broader use. To address these challenges, TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibers (TOCNF) were extracted from dissolving pulp using TEMPO-oxidation and high-pressure homogenization. These TOCNF were modified with silane to reduce hydrophilicity and improve compatibility with PLA.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) due to abundant apertures, adjustable components, and multi-purpose structures have broad application prospects in supercapacitors. However, its low conductivity, poor stability, and difficulty growing evenly on the conductive substrate limit the electrochemical energy storage performance. Herein, with FeCoNi-OH nanosheets serving as the precursors, the trimetallic FeCoNi-MOF (FCNM) multilayer structure is successfully synthesized on activated carbon cloth (AC), and its optimal growth state (FCNM/AC-12 h) is achieved by regulating the reaction time.

A highly efficient Minisci reaction of pyrimidines with alkyl radical generated from visible-light-induced activation of simple C(sp)-H feedstocks such as (cyclo)alkanes, ethers, alcohols, esters, and amides is reported. A mechanistic study revealed that alkyl radical was generated via hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) of C(sp)-H with dichloromethyl radical (·CHCl), which was generated by photoreduction of chloroform.

Metal halide perovskites and their derivatives are gaining significant attention as photoluminescent materials due to their exceptional light-emitting properties. However, most research has concentrated on electroluminescence and photoluminescence, there remains a substantial gap in the exploration of mechanoluminescence (ML) properties in perovskites, making this field largely uncharted. ML is an ancient and intriguing luminescent phenomenon that occurs when a material is subjected to mechanical forces.

Two dipicolylamine (DPA) derivatives with the pyrene and anthracene groups, 1-(pyren-1-yl)-N, N-bis-(pyridine-2-ylmethyl)benzylamine (L1) and 1-(anthracen-9-yl)-N, N-bis-(pyridine-2-ylmethyl)benzylamine (L2) were synthesized, characterized, and their affinitive properties for metal ions were studied. The mass spectroscopy and Job's plots showed that L1 and L2 reacted with Cu and formed complexes [Cu(L1)(solvent)] (L1-Cu) and [Cu(L2)(solvent)] (L2-Cu), respectively. Both L1 and L2 were fluorescent probes recognizing Cu via the emission quenching and further detecting HS via the emission revival.

Emerging organophosphate flame retardants (E-OPFRs) are a new class of pollutants that have attracted increasing attention, but their bioaccumulation patterns and trophodynamic behaviors in aquatic food webs still need to be validated by comparison with legacy OPFRs (L-OPFRs). In this study, we simultaneously investigated the bioaccumulation, trophic transfer, and dietary exposure of 8 E-OPFRs and 10 L-OPFRs in a tropical estuarine food web from Hainan Island, China. Notably, the ΣL-OPFRs concentration (16.

Although classical fluorescent dyes feature advantages of high quantum yield, tunable "OFF-ON" fluorescence, and modifiable chemical structures, etc., their bio-applications in deep tissue remains challenging due to their excessively short emission wavelength (that may lead to superficial tissue penetration depth). Therefore, there is a pressing need for pushing the wavelength of classical dyes from visible region to NIR-II window.

Ester collectors have rapidly developed into the main flotation collectors for copper sulfide minerals since they were developed. In this study, the collecting performance of four collectors, O-isopropyl-N-ethyl thionocarbamate ester (IPETC), 3-pentyl xanthate acrylate ester (PXA), O-isobutyl-N-allyl-thionocarbamate (IBALTC), and O-isobutyl-N-isobutoxycarbonyl-thionocarbamate (IBIBCTC), was investigated through microflotation tests, microcalorimetric measurements, and quantum chemical calculations. The results of the microflotation tests show that IBALTC and IPETC have stronger collecting abilities than IBIBCTC and PXA; the order of collecting ability is IBALTC > IPETC > IBIBCTC > PXA.

Background: Sugarcane is a crucial crop for both sugar and bioethanol production. The nobilization breeding and utilization of wild germplasm have significantly enhanced its productivity. However, the pollen sterility in Saccharum officinarum restricts its role to being a female parent in crosses with Saccharum spontaneum during nobilization breeding, resulting in a narrow genetic basis for modern sugarcane cultivars.

As a novel fluorescent carbon nanomaterial, carbon dots are restricted by their poor fluorescence in the solid state, although they exhibit favorable photoluminescence in solution. N-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) and solid-state fluorescence films were prepared using green and renewable cellulose-derived materials, respectively. The hydrogen bonding network of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) inhibits the self-aggregation behavior of N-CDs, which leads to solid-state fluorescence.
