Background & Aims: Current guidelines recommend a 2-step approach for risk stratification in patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) with Fibrosis-4 index (FIB-4) followed by liver stiffness measurement (LSM) by vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE) or similar second-line tests. This study aimed to examine to prognostic performance of this approach.
Methods: The VCTE-Prognosis Study was a longitudinal study of patients with MASLD who had undergone VCTE examinations at 16 centres from the US, Europe and Asia with subsequent follow-up for clinical events.
Introduction: Effective health management is crucial for elderly patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). This study applied a Psycho-Cardiology model to CHD management, aiming to assess psychological stress among patients with mild CHD and identify potential influencing factors to provide substantiating evidence.
Methods: This longitudinal study was based on a 9-year follow-up program of a community population in Shanghai, China.

Background: A variety of congenital or acquired conditions can cause craniomaxillofacial bone defects, resulting in a heavy financial burden and psychological stress. Guided bone self-generation with periosteum-preserved has great potential for reconstructing large bone defects.
Methods: A swine model of guided bone regeneration with occlusive periosteum was established, the rib segment was removed, and the periosteum was sutured to form a closed regeneration chamber.

Background: The repair of upper lip defects is difficult and can result in asymmetry. The authors have developed a postauricular scalp composite tissue for the repair of upper lip defects. Herein, the authors, present the feasibility of scalp composite tissue grafts for repairing of upper lip defects.

Intervertebral disc is a highly rhythmical tissue. As a key factor linking biorhythm and inflammatory response, the shielding effect of NR1D1 in the process of intervertebral disc degeneration remains unclear. Here, we first confirmed that NR1D1 in the nucleus pulposus tissue presents periodic rhythmic changes and decreases in expression with intervertebral disc degeneration.

Bifid nose is a rare congenital malformation, and few cases have been reported due to its low incidence. Herein, we report a new surgical procedure to treat patients with excess dorsal nasal tissue and an underfilled tip. A total of 22 patients with bifid nose deformities underwent surgery at our institution between 2012 and 2022.

The goal of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics, prognostic variables, and survival of patients with primary mediastinal diffuse large B cell lymphoma (PMBCL) in the rituximab era. The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database was used to identify PMBCL patients diagnosed between 2000 and 2019. The Kaplan-Meier (K-M) technique and log-rank test were used to assess overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS).

Purpose: Surgical guide plates can improve the accuracy of surgery, although their design process is complex and time-consuming. This study aimed to use artificial intelligence (AI) to design standardized mandibular angle ostectomy guide plates and reduce clinician workload.
Methods: An intelligence algorithm was designed and trained to design guide plates, with a safety-ensuring penalty factor added.

Background: Current strategies for correcting alar retraction mainly include cartilage grafting and composite grafting, which are relatively complicated and may produce injury to the donor site. Herein, we introduce a simple and effective external Z-plasty technique for correcting alar retraction in Asian patients with poor skin malleability.
Methods: Twenty-three patients were presented with alar retraction and poor skin malleability, and they were very concerned about the shape of the nose.

Background: Guided bone self-generation with periosteum-preserved has successfully regenerated mandibular, temporomandibular and interphalangeal joint. The aim of this study was to investigate the dynamic changes of gene expression of periosteum which was involved in the guided bone self-generation.
Methods: Rib defects of critical size were created in mature swine with periosteum-preserved.

Kisspeptin neurons are mainly located in the arcuate (Kiss1, vis-à-vis the GnRH pulse generator) and anteroventral periventricular nucleus (Kiss1, vis-à-vis the GnRH surge generator). Kiss1 send fibre projections that connect with Kiss1 somata. However, studies focused on the role of Kiss1 neurons in the LH surge are limited, and the role of Kiss1 projections to AVPV (Kiss1) in the preovulatory LH surge is still unknown.

Background: The potential correlation between progestin-primed ovarian stimulation (PPOS) and the risk of compromised embryo competence still lacks sound evidence. Methods: A large retrospective cohort study was used to compare the incidence of pregnancy loss and neonatal birthweights in frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles using embryos from PPOS and GnRH analogue protocols. Propensity matched scores were used to balance the baseline confounders.

Introduction: Although several surgical methods have been introduced to treat mild-to-moderate blepharoptosis, including levator-based techniques such as Müller muscle-conjunctival resection, few complications and better functional and aesthetic outcomes remain elusive for plastic surgeons. Hence, this study aimed to provide a new technique (bridge technique) using the levator aponeurosis-Müller's muscle flap to achieve optimal blepharoptosis correction for function and aesthetics among Asians.
Methods: From January 2019 to May 2020, this new technique was performed on 157 consecutive patients with mild-to-moderate blepharoptosis.

Background: Chemotherapy improves the survival rates of patients with various cancers but often causes some adverse effects, including ovarian damage, characterised by a decrease in primordial follicle stockpiles. Recent studies have revealed that chemotherapy may stimulate the PI3K signalling pathway, thereby resulting in accelerated primordial follicle activation and a decreased ovarian reserve. Quercetin is an inhibitor of the PI3K pathway; however, its protective effects against chemotherapy-induced follicle loss in mice have not been established.
