Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has greater infiltration of M2-like macrophages (TAMs), which enhances cancer cell invasion and leads to a poor prognosis. TNBC progression is mediated by both tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment (TME). Here we elucidate the mechanism of the interaction between TNBC cells and TAMs.

Limited information is currently available on the natural history and prognosis of two distinct histological subtypes of adenocarcinoma (AC) in the colon: mucinous adenocarcinoma (MAC) and signet-ring cell carcinoma (SRCC). Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the clinicopathological characteristics of colon MAC and SRCC, comparing them to classical AC, using a large cohort of cases from the United States. Patients diagnosed with colon AC, MAC, or SRCC from the SEER database between 2000 and 2018 were included in our study.

Purpose: Ovarian cancer is one of the most common gynecological cancers in women with a low 5-year survival rate. Evaluation of hyaluronic acid-binding protein 1 (HABP1) level can provide important information for the diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer. In this study, we designed a novel HABP1 probe based on Tc-radiolabeled small-interference RNA (siRNA) for detecting HABP1 expression noninvasively in vivo, thereby providing a new method for its diagnosis and treatment.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a lethal disease with extremely high mortality. Although surgical resection is the optimal therapeutic approach for PC, about 30%-40% of those patients are not candidates for surgical resection when diagnosed. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy also could not claim a desirable effect on PC.

The balance between T helper type 1 (Th1) and T helper type 2 (Th2) cells is critical for both innate and acquired immune reactions. However, the precise mechanisms of T helper-cell differentiation remain unclear. As an important T-cell activation molecule, CD44 participates in the differentiation of Th1 and Th2 cells.

Cisplatin chemotherapy is standard care for many cancers but is toxic to the kidneys. How this toxicity occurs is uncertain. In this study, we identified apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 2 (APE2) as a critical molecule upregulated in the proximal tubule cells (PTC) following cisplatin-induced nuclear DNA and mitochondrial DNA damage in cisplatin-treated C57B6J mice.

Introduction: The LAmbre (LifeTech Scientific, Shenzhen, China) is a novel occluder for left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) in patients with atrial fibrillation. This study compares late clinical outcomes of LAmbre and the established Amplatzer devices (Abbott, St Paul, MN).
Methods: Between 2012 and 2018, 265 consecutive patients underwent LAAC with LAmbre and Amplatzer devices at a single center.

Prognostic significance of cytochrome P450 2C19*2 polymorphism in acute myocardial infarction is still not well investigated. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between the genetic polymorphism and the outcome of the acute myocardial infarction patients, and to further clarify the impact of smoking on such relationship. Six hundred acute myocardial infarction patients were enrolled.

Purpose: Noninvasive quantification of chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) expression could serve as a prognostic indicator and may be of value for the design of personalized therapies and posttreatment monitoring. The objective of the present study was to assess the use of (99m)Tc-radiolabeled small-interference RNA (siRNA) targeting CXCR4 to detect CXCR4 expression in vivo.
Procedures: CXCR4 siRNAs were radiolabeled with (99m)Tc using the bifunctional chelator hydrazinonicotinamide (HYNIC), and the labeling efficiency, specific activity and radiochemical purity were determined.

To maximize tumor excision and minimize collateral damage are the primary goals of cancer surgery. Emerging molecular imaging techniques have made "image-guided surgery" developed into "molecular imaging-guided surgery", which is termed as "targeted surgery" in this review. Consequently, the precision of surgery can be advanced from tissue-scale to molecule-scale, enabling "targeted surgery" to be a component of "targeted therapy".

Purpose: To evaluate the performance of N-[2-(diethylamino)ethyl]-(18)F-5-fluoropicolinamide ((18)F-P3BZA) for visualizing porcine retinal pigment epithelium (pRPE) cells transplanted in the striatum for the treatment of Parkinson disease and to monitor the long-term activity of implanted pRPE cells by means of (18)F-P3BZA positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) in vivo.
Materials And Methods: Animal work was conducted in accordance with the administrative panel on laboratory animal care. In vitro cell uptake of (18)F-P3BZA was determined with incubation of melanotic pRPE or amelanotic ARPE-19 cells with (18)F-P3BZA.

Arsenic trioxide (ATO) is presently the most active single agent in the treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). In order to explore the molecular mechanism of ATO in leukemia cells with time series, we adopted bioinformatics strategy to analyze expression changing patterns and changes in transcription regulation modules of time series genes filtered from Gene Expression Omnibus database (GSE24946). We totally screened out 1847 time series genes for subsequent analysis.

The objective of this study was to determine whether (18)F-misonidazole could detect hypoxia in macroscopic and microscopic tumors in mice. In nude mice, subcutaneous xenografts and peritoneal metastases were generated utilizing human non-small cell lung cancer A549 and HTB177 cells. Animals were co-injected with (18)F-misonidazole, pimonidazole and bromodeoxyuridine, and tumor perfusion was assessed by Hoechst 33342 injection.

Purpose: Increasing experimental evidences suggest that ubiquitin-specific protease 22 (USP22), a cancer stem cell marker, plays a crucial role in pathological processes of epithelial malignancies and other solid tumors, which makes it a potential target for cancer therapy. The aim of this study was to study the roles of USP22 in human colorectal cancer cell line HCT116 by suppressing USP22 expression with micro-interfering RNA (miRNA).
Methods: With the knock-down of USP22, the changes of cellular proliferation, cell cycle, cell apoptosis, and major vault protein (MVP) expression were investigated.

Unlabelled: The mouse double-minute 2 (MDM2) oncogene, amplified or overexpressed in many human cancers, has been suggested to be a novel target for cancer therapy. Visualization of MDM2 expression using radionuclide targeting can provide important diagnostic information in malignant tumors. The overall aim of this study was to evaluate whether liposome-coated (99m)Tc-radiolabeled antisense oligonucleotides (ASONs) targeting MDM2 messenger RNA (mRNA) could be used for imaging of MDM2 expression in vivo.
